(other than the mk1 with nos, but thats cheating!) please please someone buy this before i do something stupid :D ps it was sold for 3k in 07 so wouldnt pay what they are asking for it.

Really im looking at 600 as it comes with a rebuild reciept for 400. Will have the new teflon oil feed pipe with it. As i guess your finding they are pretty hard to find now.

crock of ****e. i got my reminder for tax on the rado today and enclosed was a leaflet saying "from early 2011" you will be fined £100 for not insuring, possible court and clamping/disposal. i own a second car and its not insured, but is taxed and mot'd. i will hapily insure it when i need to use it, but have no intention of doing so for it to sit on my drive as the £100 fine is a hell of a lot cheaper. as far as im aware if they come on to my private property to clamp my vehicle they have broken the law, same applies if they remove it. any legal minded people to clarify? where are we supposed to find the spare money from then? its not like you read the newspaper everyday saying how skint people are!

not 100% sure but i seem to remember there being something said on here about the wiring being slightly different on some pumps. worth a search to see what it brings up, or maybe somebody with a better memory than me can point you in the right direction. edit: or are you using the original pump?

cheaper to go stainless then. parkers are normally quite reasonable for spares.

check throttle cable and butterfly valve on throttle body, but im sure you have already. getting a smoke test is helpful to spot any leaks. when mine was idling high and revving itself it was the inlet mani gasket. i hated looking like a gimp at the lights too. good luck.

yeah it is a little low on the reading but as you say (and i forgot to mention) silencer box is a nightmare, the sooner it goes in the bin the better. you may well find that the psi will pick up after this. if your friendly with the mot place they will prob not mind checking the cambelt tensioner for you as they would possibly get the resulting work from it. def worth getting a rebuild for peace of mind then. jabbasport are becoming quite reasonable on price. as mr shoes says over tight cam belt can cause noises but from my personal experience its more of a groaning/whirring noise, sounds alot like gearbox problems. if/when you change the fan belt youll be able to tighten up the water pump belt tension too. youll get your head round it soon enough though.

cambelt tensioner should have been changed at the same time as the belt without exception. not uncommon for the reciept to just say "timing belt change" or likewise. if you can buy a tin of anti belt slip, then give the fan belt a spray, if it stops squeeling at you then you know what it is. as you are using a 68mm pulley, fit a smaller belt than the standard one if you replace it. squeeling fan belt not an mot fail as far as im aware. 68mm pulley should ideally be making around 15 psi, but depends where youre taking the measurement from, if your using the mfa (might not be dead on accurate), and have headwork done it will under read. do you know whent the charger was last rebuilt?

bets thing to come out of the series is that you can buy a kick ass senna dvd. poor job top gear.

doh! just read the first page of this, love the new forum! change the stalk because it will be fooked. veedubmachine do a pretty much spot on non genuine one for a reasonable price (£18 ish i think). then put the correct fuse in so it doesnt set your dash on fire!!
