  1. Ok thanks. I'll go with the dedicated line. Yes it was the 20 amp at the top of the plate. And can I just earth anywhere?
  2. Not in a rush but will be on the lookout for some of these.
  3. I appreciate the original wiring had a dedicated line but is it absolutely necessary? Do you know if it was dedicated for a reason, or just because it was an optional extra? Do you mean you spliced from an existing 20 amp line, so you had one 20 amp supply shared between two 'things'? Oddly mine does have a 20 amp fused connection at the point I would expect the factory installed electrical seats to be wired. But I'm not sure what it's feeding. It does have some very original looking german writing on a label and I'm half wondering if it had electric seats at one point in the past and they have just been cut off somewhere.
  4. I believe all I need to to is supply a live with 20 amp fuse and then an earth. Is this correct? My fusebox has a couple of 20 amp lines already. So would it be safe to splice off of one of these (with appropriate connectors, not just taped together), provide an in-line fuse, and then earth to any part of the bodywork? Or have I got it so badly wrong that I should just call someone who knows what they are doing This is for electric movement, they are not heated. Thanks.
  5. Sorry hadn't seen this question before. I'm not sure which he used but I would guess satin.
  6. Bought some cloth recaros from harryc. Really nice guy to deal with.
  7. Electric black cloth recaro's in, courtesy of harryc :thumbleft: We spent the morning swapping interiors. Thoroughly nice guy. Picture also stolen from his advert... They really are in great condition and make the car look and feel just that little bit more special. I also find them more comfortable. The standard seats are great and definitely hold you more securely. But I'm finding these more comfortable, slightly firmer, and with better back support. I still need to wire them in though. I have the loom but nowhere on the fuse box to wire it into. There is another 20 amp feed on there so would it be ok to splice into that with an inline fuse and then earth on any part of the body? Or is that going the set fire to the car???My concern is that the other 20 amp wire is there for a reason so would it overload the line to splice into it?
  8. I'm 42 and have both a corrado and a golf. I'd rather drive the corrado.
  9. I've got the 2.8 24v in my Golf 4Motion and the 12v in my Corrado. The engines are definitely different in character and there is no doubt that the 24v is quite an improvement on the older 12v. The power delivery is from a lower rpm and is very linear. Even in the heavier Golf it does seem slightly better economy. Right now If I were to need an entire engine replacement and there was not much difference in price then I'd probably go 24v. However in a few years, if values had started to rise then I would stay with 12v and rebuild it.
  10. I think you've already got a long line of people queuing for the seats. But I'd be interested too :) EDIT: Ah, just seen you've got an advert out there.
  11. Possibly. But that brings back the question of whether any Corrado will be worth decent money in the future.
  12. Always loved moonlight blue :)
  13. I put a bit of a write-up of replacing mine in the link below. It's very easy but can be a little fiddly to get it sitting right. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?56555-Roof-trim-question&highlight=roof+strips
  14. While I have a good Sony in mine (it came with the car) I always liked Alpines and they do several models with a green fascia which look very OEM in a Corrado. For example the X301/X311 and the CDE-9880. The X301/X311 are a little more modern looking with a large jog/dial but the CDE-9880 looks very 90's in my opinion and would probably be the one I'd get.
  15. I saw the green one again today that I often see local to me. for some greasing it's usually on a Saturday at about the same time. Today it was driving past three Hinchley Woo Shell station at around 12:30. I was in mine this time though so gave a toot if the horn and got a wave back.
  16. From my recent invoice: P V535 853 719 P V535 853 720 (yes they are different left and right)
  17. This is what I love about mine... it makes me smile while driving and that hasn't happened to me in other cars for years. Welcome to the fold.
  18. I like the feel of the brakes on my mk4 4Mo. They aren't as sharp as the mk5 R32 I mentioned but have a lot more bite than the Corrado. Mind you I can't complain about the Corrado too much either. Last weekend some idiot pull off the hard shoulder of the M40 right in front of me without getting up to speed. I managed to slow the Corrado right down very quickly. I did have a brief second when I thought "no way I'll stop in time" though. I think it does help if you've recently had the brake fluid changed recently too (which mine has). But I do find the 4mo steering very wooly and imprecise compared to the Corrado. I can place the Corrado exactly where I want it.
  19. I test drove a mk5 R32 recently and nearly put myself through the windscreen the first time I touched the brakes :D
  20. ^^ This is why I always buy online with a credit card if possible. It is far safer.
  21. Has the heater matrix been changed recently? If not then it could be that.
  22. I just saw City of God again. Despite seeing it numerous times I'm always struck by how good it is.
  23. Welcome to the club. They do feel special don't they :)
  24. Thanks :) It has 205/45's on it. To be honest I've not had 15's on there. I bought the car with these 16's. But from memory of driving other Corrado's there doesn't seem much difference between them in ride comfort. I have BBS centre caps on them.
  25. I bought the following recently. Both arrived well packaged, quickly, and as described: Front VW badge from leeeeshad New rear VW badge from dragon green Thanks guys.
