Sherry pearl (?) Corrado of unknown model driving through Esher this morning at 9:10.

Neighbour stopped while I was cleaning it yesterday... "You'll clean that to death. Lovely car though" :thumbleft:

Gotta be this: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?31570-VR-Mincy-Now-up-for-sale/page35&highlight=mincy

Oooh, 24v mincing?

Yes I got that too when I ordered. I've spent more with the Golf and never got a discount but it seems they like Corrado's :D

Good effort with the LED's. Was it hard to do? Personally I prefer green in the Corrado simply because it's period 90's. But you've done a good job there. I'm considering replacing mine but with brighter green ones. What's that display in the drivers left vent? The car looks lovely, especially under the bonnet. And I love the wheels. Not mad on the sticker in the window though.

It's my birthday today and I happened to be working from home so I popped out to the dealers and collected the service items I'd ordered... all three engine and gearbox mounts, various new bolts for them, oil filter, new blank key (currently only have one key for the ignition) and of course the new gear knob. I also went for a new fuel filter as I assume it probably hasn't been done for a long time, if at all. Most of these probably don't need replacing yet but it won't hurt to do them pro-actively. I now need to get up to my brothers at some point for him to help do all the work and the service. He has access to garage facilities including a lift which should make it a lot easier. No idea when we're both free but it's not urgent. I have mixed views on the new gear knob. I thought it would be quite weighty (especially for the price!) but it's not. It's quite light and flimsy. So I will leave my current illuminated one on there for now and keep this in storage for the future. The oil also arrived (yep I know one 5l bottle isn't enough - I've got another unopened one in the garage). So that's over £400 in parts and oil. This Corrado mallarky isn't exaclty cheap. I was only going to do an oil service and got a bit carried away. It will be worth it when done though. I had to smile at the garage. I didn't even need to hand them the order receipt for the parts. I walked up to the counter and they recognised me and just handed the parts over. I never used to get that with the Golf :) And in other news emu's refurbing an OEM wheel which I'll buy off him when complete. It's a little more expensive than I was really looking to pay but hopefully it will be better than most others I would find. And I guessed I wouldn't have been happy with anything sub standard sat in front of me. I'll have the old wheels and bosses for sale shortly so will recoup some money there. Time to celebrate my birthday with a few glasses of pear vodka :)

Loving the house. Very nice :)

Well the seller hasn't contacted me and I can't remember who it was. So I can only assume I didn't get it for some reason. Will probably just email the seller next time as this way doesn't work.

Welcome. Always loved mk2's. Got any pics?

Or buy the V9 kit currently for sale on Pistonheads and put that into any VR6 you buy.
-
That looks quite a good deal. But what *really* annoys me with similar ads is the dealer saying "trade sale - no warranty". It clearly isn't a trade sale and they are just trying to get out of their obligation.

You could try Andy from Trim Wizard. He mainly does alarm work and fixes various trim. But his site also lists auto electrician work. He did a great job on installing my new alarm and more relevantly on removing the various old alarm bits left over from previous installs. He knows Corrado's quite well (he used to own one), gets a lot of recommendations on here, and comes out to you (I live not too far from you - near Kingston - and he came to me). http://www.trim-wizard.co.uk/

I'd be sending this in a recorded delivery letter to him: Dear xxxx Re: VW Corrado G60 registration xxxxxxx I absolutely refute any allegation that I misrepresented the car prior to sale. I will state the facts below: 1) This was a private sale with no warranty offered or implied. It was xx years old. It was sold as seen. 2) At the time of sale the supercharger was, to the best of my knowledge, working correctly. 3) As stated in the advert and as discussed during the sale, the gear linkage was faulty. This was confirmed by the AA who are entrely independant in this matter. The gear linkage failure occured three days prior to sale and therefore the AA had investigated the fault just prior to your purchase. They made no mention of a supercharger fault to me and there was no reference to a supercharger fault on the AA worksheet. 4) You viewed and inspected the car prior to purchase. While the car could not be driven, due to the gear linkage fault outlined above, your inspection included starting and running the engine for a period of time. You had ample opportunity to identify any faults including an opportunity for a professional inspection had you so wished. My position on this matter is clear; the car was represented correctly and, to the best of my knowledge, the supercharger was working correctly at the time of sale. Had it been faulty at the time then I was certainly unaware of such. I am not a professional mechanic. You inspected the car to your satisfaction and removed the car after agreeing the condition and completing the sale. No warranty is offered or implied with a private sale. Should you wish to take this matter to court then I am happy to defend my position and am confident that I will be found in the right. Additionally, the constant phone calls and text messages must stop. These are now amounting to harrassment and I will take further action if you persist. As this may potentially result in legal action all further contact must be in writing and I will not respond to phone calls, texts or emails. Yours sincerely, xxxxxxxx

With the auto gearbox issue it will probably get bought by someone breaking it for profit at that price.

What Parts Do You Want To See Made From Carbon?
Portent replied to 8vMatt's topic in General Car Chat
I'm not sure I'd want to be in an accident with carbon fibre wings or more importantly doors. -
Yeah go on then. It's more than I was looking to spend but I'm trying to get the car spot on and I know I won't be happy unless it's top quality. So if you can guarantee it will be great condition after the refurb then I'll go for it. I'll drop you a pm. I've got a new gear knob sitting at the dealers so I've got that sorted, but thanks anyway.

I seem to recall some threads on here about cleaning the MAF. That might be worth a try first?
-
Thanks guys.
-
Yeah that's the point. If I had clicked 'email the seller' I would actually feel more confident they have seen my request to buy.As it is I can't recall the seller and the ad disappears off the face of the earth when you click to buy. Did I manage to buy it? Or did it get bought by someone else at the same time and my click was discarded? Oh well, will wait and see what happens :)

I have a spare set of speedlines that were part of the sale when I bought the car. At some point I want to get them refurbed. I'd welcome any recommendations either in the Surrey area or further out. Also what sort of price should I budget for? Thanks.

Can you not explain the situation to your insurers and supply them instead of proof you paid for membership. E.g. email confirmation from paypal. To be honest I doubt they will ever try to validate the membership number anyway.

Great, thanks.

I think Butterfly on here is one of the club runners so probably worth pm'ing her.
