I went out in her for the first time in a couple of weeks. It's lovely to drive especially after a break from it. I took the kids to the Brooklands museum which is quite near me. They got to sit in an old McLaren F1 car which was nice and the Concorde experience there was very interesting (apparently 30% of Concorde parts were made at Brooklands). There's something about that spoiler going up as you get up to speed that's addictive :D

I bought a MAF from hombre_paulo. Smooth deal, well packaged. Thanks.

It's probably worth looking around in the 'cars for breaking' threads.

Haynes don't do one but look out for a Bentley manual (£50 to £60 used). You can check if the switch is getting power by turning the headlights on and covering the switch. There should be four LED's that illuminate the little direction arrows. They are very dim though so best done at night. Obviously if it's not getting power then it could be the fuse (sorry not sure which one) or the connector into the switch itself. The door handle cover pops off and can be unscrewed after that. Then the switch can be removed. Check if the connector is firmly seated and doesn't need cleaning. The next thing to check is whether the switch is gunked up inside. It can be opened by prising it apart (lots of small bits inside which may pop out) and give it a good clean and then re-grease the moving parts while you're there. Or a replacement switch is quite cheap second hand. If that's all fine then it may be the motors. But usually one motor will still work so it's likely to be something in the switch.

Yesterday I repaired some of the wiring loom tape which had degraded over the years. The wiring was fine and I just needed to patch up the tape as a bit of preventative maintenance. I'm now thinking whether or not to go the whole hog and re-wrap all of it. But I think that's overkill so will probably leave it.

There is a cut-off year I think but I can't seem to find it. My google skills fail me. But my understanding is that after a certain year (91 or 92 I think) then your car has to have a working ABS if it was originally supplied with one. In the case of a 1995 Corrado this would be the case for all models I believe. But if your car didn't originally have ABS then it can be removed. I#m not 100% certain on the above but that is my understanding.

Depends on the year of registration. I'm sure it's compulsory for the MOT if the car is registered after a certain date?

Mine had two issues which affected only the passenger mirror: 1) The switch was dirty. So I took it apart ad cleaned it up. The mirror then tried to move but wasn't actually moving anywhere. 2) The mechanism inside the mirror had snapped. The motor worked fine but it wasn't moving the glass. So I took it apart and glued the plastic mechanism together again. It now works perfectly.

Steering wheel exchange - Germany. Link required

emu does this too. I recently bought one from him. It's very nicely done indeed. I'd say around 95% like new. He cleans and prepares them and and then re-dyes them. What he doesn't do is fill in any marks or scratches before repainting which would obviously take more time and push up the price. There is a very minor one on mine but the rest of the wheel looks great and I'm happy with it. Obviously if you're after it being re-trimmed then that's a different matter. -
Congratulations :) More pics needed :) Suggest you start a progress thread in the members cars section: http://the-corrado.net/forumdisplay.php?16-Members-Gallery

I reckon you could get a smaller 7% mounted nicely down the bottom if you remove the ashtray and cigarette lighter.

I don't know the cambelt interval but 6 years sounds a little long. So it might be worth budgeting in change. They need changing after a certain number of years regardless of the mileage covered since the last change. EDIT: Does anymore more knowledgable than me know what the interval is?

Yes the spoonfed one. But originals were 50mm and 90mm. The Spoonfed one is 70mm so while it is very close it's not going to be 100% identical. But in my view it's the right size as the 90mm can scrape over humps on a lowered car.
-
I think they are all obsolete so you will need to look out on here it on the bay. There is a group buy on here for an aftermarket 70mm chin spoiler though.
-
Very nice. I've been thinking of doing the same. How does it compare to what they looked like before... in other words does it look like the original finish or does it look painted? If you put the mirror switch in does it look out of place or ok?Did you prepare it or prime it before?

emu - Do you have more than one? If you do, and they are known to be working then I'll take one for £20 posted to add to my collection of spares. Not in a rush.

An HPI check does usually work even if they have changed the plate. I think I used these people: http://www.hpicheck.com/ If I recall, it told me if there had been any number plate changes and then gave me the chance to check the chassis number as well as the registration. Did you see the car in the end or yet to see it?

I've just looked further into the warranty situation and contrary to my previous understanding they don't have to offer a warranty as such. However it must be: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Consumerrights/Buyingacar-yourconsumerrights/DG_183047 If it has come back ok on the vehicle check then it might just be a different car to the one that's been mentioned before.

Well the only things I watch are BBC News 24, Top Gear and occasional F1. There really isn't much BBC stuff I watch now, sadly.

Leather refurbishing + plastic painting NEW - STEERING WHEEL
Portent replied to emu's topic in Suppliers Forum
I bought a refurbed wheel from emu this week. It's great, almost like new. I don't have a decent camera to take pics but I'm very happy with it. -
They have said they won't have adverts next year. But have said nothing about 2013 onwards :(

Not sure how I've missed this thread. Great work there :thumbleft: -
Assuming you're after a 16v rather than a G60 (which can be had for not much more money) then how about this one: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201130405771309/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/corrado/make/volkswagen/page/2/postcode/kt100px/quicksearch/true/radius/1501?logcode=p I hate the wheels but they can be changed easily. It's very low mileage (54k) and white is a desirable colour in any car (not personally mad on white but most people love white). It's only 7 miles from me so I'd happily do a pre-viewing for you. I'm absolutely not a mechanic so couldn't guarantee I'd spot anything but I would be able to give an opinion on whether it feels right or not and go over the usual checks. It's another dealer and slightly higher price than the other car but it might be worth it. I woudn't get to hung up on colour. There are only around 3.5k cars left so I'd suggest having a number of colours in consideration and then find the best car you can afford when one of them comes up. EDIT: I could only view it at weekends as work is silly busy right now.

Just found out this is open. Can't wait to get the VR through it for aural pleasure . It's about 40 mins away from me. The video below is just a random one I found on YouTube. Skip to 1:55 for the tunnel. Mind out for the SPECS though. [video=youtube_share;cfQHSl9r0No]
