  1. I think the fans are kicking in ok as it never goes above 90 deg on the water. But I will check it at the weekend and the hoses as suggested. I was going to do a coolant change soon anyway so I will factor in a thermostat change at the same time. Thanks guys.
  2. Also consider the cost of higher insurance on the R32 every year, and the potential to reduce your buyers market when selling. On balance I would probably go with the VR6 rebuild although it's a tough decision.

    Greetings!

Welcome. which model are you looking for?
  4. I have a Samsung Note which is half a phone and half a tablet (5.3" screen). I love it and use it for so email, messaging, a phone obviously, games, Kindle ebooks, music, TV (iPlayer and can get a lead to plug into the TV) and satnav. It's smaller than a regular tablet but that just makes it even more portable.
  5. Do you need to strip it all down or just grease it? I greased mine at the weekend and it only took about 15 mins. A very simple job and Yandards did a great guide on the CCGB site (members area --> technical). Or if you need to fully strip it down then Dragon Green did a guide to it here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51125-Spoiler-motor-cleaning-and-repair
  6. Just wondering if mine is behaving as expected or whether it's worth swapping it out... When driving the water temp usually stays at about 70 deg (oil temp around 90 deg). However if I stop for a period of time with the engine idling then the water temp rises to almost match the oil temp. Is this the expected behaviour or should I swap the thermostat?
  7. For £210 I'll take my nearly new ones off mine and post them to you :) EDIT: I hadn't realised that the OP was new. Welcome :)
  8. What do the Storm badges smell of?
  9. £115 + VAT for both sides from Veedubmachine too.
  10. Today I greased the spoiler mechanism as it had become noisy. I followed the guide on CCGB. It's now silent and smooth. It was actually quite simple :)
  11. I'd like a 70 because I lightly scrape my 90 on the way out of my road. But I'm tempted to just get a new one from the dealer. Hey it just occurred to me... Would people be interested in a group buy from the dealer? I'm happy to call my local one and find out if we could get a discount on them for a large order. Edit: I doubt it would work out any cheaper though by the time.delivery is added.
  12. Blooming heck that's useful to a n00b like me. Thanks.
  13. Jim hopefully it will be fine with a top up. How does cold start sound now you've topped it up?
  14. Dark H reg driving around the one way system in Kingston today at 12:15. I was in the golf on the other side so didn't wave as you wouldn't have seen me.
  15. Also watched Senna a couple of days ago. Fantastic film if you are a petrolhead - 10/10
  16. Check the boot lock key position. It's possible to lock it such that the central locking won't open it :)
  17. Thanks for the offer of help, it's much appreciated. I think I will take a look first if it's that simple (I surprised myself last week and managed to do the aux belt which is something I would never have considered in the past). I'm not sure yet what I'm doing with the decat. I will probably keep it for a bit in case I'm tempted to put it back on after the MOT. But if not then I'll let you know :)
  18. I'm putting the cat back into the car. When I bought it it was decatted but the previous owner also supplied a cat. How simple a job is it to do it myself (complete novice) or is it a cheap job and I'm better off just getting a local place to put it on?
  19. I loved my TT 225 Coupe back in the day. It's the only car I've ever bought new and it was a lovely midnight blue (Moro blue) with black leather. I nearly bought another instead of a Corrado. They really are quite cheap now. However the electrics were not the most reliable and it wasn't unusual to come back to the car and find the window open. The 1.8T Golfs, TT's (and I assume the S3's) of that era tended to suffer from coilpack failure and recent issues coming to light are haldex problems and dashboard display failure. But both of those last two can be fixed by specialists and no longer require quite so expensive repairs. The issue I'd have with an S3 is that it's a hot hatch rather than a true coupe.
  20. Great cars. But the don't have the character of the Corrado. So no.
  21. Welcome. One of my favourite colours :)
  22. I think part of the reason some people lose the love is that they get to a point with the car where the ongoing maintenance overtakes the improvements being made. e.g. when you first buy one then you have a long list of improvements. That might be an engine conversion, respray, adding leather, etc. And once that's done it then becomes a matter of living with an old car which breaks and needs fixing (if you can find the parts). That's also why I think that the community is important; it makes the car a much bigger thing in your life and not just a mode of transport. But the lack of any local parking would hack me right off I must admit.
  23. Ok then, staying with the Watchman theme, how about Ozymandias or The Comedian?
