  1. At that price, yes. That's why many are being broken now. As mentioned by someone above, the leather in his is worth nearly as much as the total car.
  2. Headlight plugs and elastic band thingymajigs received. Thanks.
  3. If you are taxed and insured then yes you can drive to and from pre-booked MOT. It must be booked in advance though.
  4. But he has to consider the cost of getting it to the MOT station too; it would need to either be trailered or taxed and insured. That may make it not worth getting an MOT.
  5. Something struck me while at work yesterday; I worked a day for free. I get paid the same amount each month regardless of the number of days. So that means that my annual salary remains unchanged even in years with the extra day. Arse :(
  6. I'm not convinced that sale prices are increasing yet. They still seem lower than when I was looking in 2010. We are in a strange period right now while we transition to owners who actually seek out a Corrado as a second car. Previously it was likely to be people wanting one as a daily but due to their age and the poor availability and high price of parts I think that group of people are filtering away. Likewise there aren't enough of them on the road for most people to even consider one when looking for an older car. They simply don't register in peoples minds. At least with an old 3 series or and old mk2 Golf they are still in peoples memories and sometimes on the street. However, as the poor cars fall away there is a reasonable chance of them increasing in value. I certainly feel that this period is the last chance to get a good example at reasonable money and do enough work to it before they become impossible to find. I'm undecided whether that means values will rise or fall in the short to medium term. ---------- Post added at 9:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:33 AM ---------- Fair point. You could be right. I agree in principle. However, having been to a couple of BMW shows last year with my brother, the E36 M3 is starting to have it's own cult following. It may not be as good as an E46 or E30 but I would argue it's a much better car than the Corrado and BMW have a better commitment to making spare parts available. Many people lusted after them in their youth (just like the Corrado) and now seem to be grabbing one while prices are still in chav territory. Terrible immage currently though. But I think that will change in a few years. EDIT: I don't know what the future will hold for my Corrado onership. I don't really have the time to concentrate on it and a future house move may prove its undoing. But I bought one to scratch an itch I'd had since 1995 and I love driving it so much that I sorely regret not buying a brand new Storm when I test drove it back then. I may sell in the near future or I may try to keep it indefinitely. But prices don't have a bearing on my plans and, in an ideal world, it would never be for sale.
  7. I bought some a few weeks ago. Around £50 as mentioned above, including the fixing kit for the drivers side. The ones I were given were the type with the embroidered Corrado logo.
  8. Holy crap that car is absolutely destroyed.
  9. Actually that's the whole point of the leap year. The earth rotates around the sun in (approximately) 365.25 days. So an extra day is added to the calendar every four years. If that didn't happen then the seasons would gradually move.
  10. New mats in today. A subtle difference but makes the cabin a much nicer place to be rather than the slightly tired ones with the logo rubbed off (new ones are OEM so have embroidered logo).
  11. Horrible rubbing noise from the spoiler today. Still works fine but clearly needs some attention. Looks like a new job on the list is to strip it down and grease it. Is there a simple way to do this or do I need to remove the whole unit as per the wiki?
  12. Claygate / Esher here. Not a million miles from Guildford either. You'll sometimes see mine parked in the Guildford Spectrum car park taking the kids for a swim or skate :)
  13. My aux belt needs doing and it sounds a little like your clip (I have a VR6 though). Yes the alternator belt is the aux belt. My aux belt was replaced a couple of years ago by the previous owner but has got noisy again. Apparently non OEM belts can get noisy again fairly quickly. Yours may not be the aux belt as it has indeed been replaced and only makes it after a drive. But it's a simple test to rule it out... With engine off just wipe some wd40 on a cloth and then into the belt. If the noise goes away then it's likely to be the belt. In your case I suggest driving it until it makes the noise, then engine off, wd40 on a tag, start engine again and listen. If nothing else it will rule it out.
  14. This is a job I need to do shortly. Did you have to remove the drivers front wheel and inner trim to get access to the belt or were you able to do it with the wheel turned fully to the right and jacked up a little?
  15. Welcome. Well the best bet for the keys is to look in the cars-for-breaking section on here and trying to get hold of a complete set of ignition, door and boot locks with a key. Failing that you could get hold of any key and then re-tumble the locks (tumble kit still available at the dealers).
  16. Aux belt? Have you tried wiping some wd40 on the belt itself and seeing if it goes quiet for a while? If so then it could be that.
  17. Looks good. I really like US style indicators too.
  18. Agree with both points about the windscreen trim and the long nose pliers. I thought I was going to break the trim when I popped it off but luckily didn't. And the pliers were invaluable to position it back into thought place when reinserting. Then a quick pry with a screwdriver again. I also put some washing up liquid into it to help lubricate it on the way in.
  19. Some 8v had manual windows. maybe they may have had a manual roof too?
  20. I'm not convinced they are original and haven't simply been recoloured at some point. If they were original then I would expect the door cards would have been green leather too, instead of cloth.
  21. I removed the drivers side undertray and refitted it to prevent the clutch pedal catching on it on the return. Seems to have worked. Then removed the passenger side undertray and replaced the heater fan motor. It turned out not to be the cause of the vibration I was getting so I put the original back in again. Vibration magically disappeared. Weird. Cleaned fan scuttle area too. Removed passenger seat, cleaned and greased the runners for a smoother movement (I did the drivers side last week). Took it for an evening drive :)
