  1. Are those the right words in the wrong order? Should that have been "Hello could help you"? Wullie - definitely the right choice, but really the only choice!
  2. As said, shouldn't be too bad to get sorted - either diy, or professionally. The only problem will be if it's corroded beyond what you can see, but I think you'll be okay.
  3. I'll take the dash blank and the number plate light surround please.
  4. There should be the mounting for it too. Have you got a photo of that area? I'd say you should definitely fit one, as it runs after the engine (and main pump) have stopped.
  5. I wasn't expecting classicline to accrue NCB, so I wasn't thinking of trying them at all, but from their website: "However, that doesn’t mean you still don’t accrue NCB, you’ll gain a years bonus for each consecutive claim free year you’re with us. Should you have any existing bonus we can also keep this valid, and it will accrue in the same way." So from that I was assuming I could NCB as usual - though i guess I couldn't protect it. And yeah, I'd have thought the weekend would be the busiest period for buying / sellings cars - so why don't they open longer and Sundays too? So infuriating.
  6. Insurance time again for both cars (corrado and a saxo). Struggling to get a decent price on the Saxo (I don't consider £500 for a 40yo decent). So I was wondering whether I might be able to switch the 14 years NCD I have on the rado to the Saxo, and switch the 5 years off the Saxo to the rado and try classicline for that. Does that sound like something you can do? One problem I can see is that the insurance for both cars is due 2 days apart - so technically I won't have 5 years ncd on the Saxo until after I need to insure the rado - I could just not insure it for a couple of days - but don't know if that would cause problems with the requirement for continuous insurance. Does any break in insurance get you in trouble, no matter how short? Anybody else switched NCB between cars? And why do all (or most) of the 'specialist' insurers only open 9 til 6 (or earlier). How are you supposed to sort insurance out when you're at work. I hate insurance renewal time!
  7. Whilst not a classic policy, my limited mileage policy with adrian flux states (not that noticeably imo) that there will be no refund after 4 months. My other policy with them (not limited mileage) doesn't say that. I assumed most classic/limited mileage policies were like that due to the (supposedly) low price.
  8. Sorry to hear about this. The main thing is that everybody is okay. However, I understand how much you want to keep the car. From experience (not Corrado though), I'd expect the insurance to have a limit on how much they'll pay - market value of a replacement car - but that's NOT book value. I'd echo what others have said - use second hand parts and try to speak to the assessor directly. You might end up having it written off but keeping the salvage - there's certainly no reason you shouldn't be able to keep it as salvage if it comes to that. But basically, fight for what you want, and fight hard, don't give up. If you feel you're not getting anywhere write to the MD/CEO of the concerned insurance. It's clearly not your fault, and your not meant to be out of pocket. But I'll repeat, I think you'll struggle to get them to pay out more than the market value of a replacement - so do your homework and find comparable for sale ads for your car - as good or better. Good luck - hope it works out for you in the end.
  9. Payment sent for a set of VR6 straps. Cheers.
  10. Absolutely no apology necessary. You've taken the time and trouble to organise this, so if it runs slowly that's not a problem - it's your time your investing in this, to make it easy for the rest of us. Hopefully they'll be a good fit first time round. Fingers crossed!
  11. Tom, that sounds okay. Is the mech and motor from a late model (or are they all the same anyway)? Could you let me know payment details please? Thanks.
  12. If Voo51 doesn't take the sunroof mech & motor, and you would post it, I'll take it.
  13. You can't apply logic to car insurance. In the past I too have found 3rd party to cost almost as much as fully comp. Prices fluctuate on a daily basis. And it can be more expensive to insure a low value car than a higher value one. Think of insurance quotes as random numbers, where the info you provide just affects the range of numbers used. Anyway it seems you *can* get insurance it's just too expensive. All you can do is keep trying.
  14. You need to subscribe to the thread I think. Click where it says Thread Tools at the top of the thread, and choose "Subscribe to this thread..." Also, you may be able to change your profile to automatically subscribe to every thread you post in if you want.
  15. Well in my experience they do not side with the seller - they may initially, but ultimately if the buyer appeals they will side with them. There is zero seller protection. Even had the police involved for fraud - as ebay said to do - and STILL ebay/paypal wouldn't change their final decision. And not only does the buyer get the refund once they've returned the item, they get the original postage back, and you still end up paying the final fees. I thought there was limit of £40 in fees that the seller would have to pay as the final value fee - perhaps it's changed now though. However, whilst that might sound a lot, compared to 'normal' auction houses the fee would usually be higher - often 15% or more.
  16. Main thing is everybody could walk away. But now, take every penny you can get out of them. It's not your fault you're in this position, and I wouldn't be surprised if you get penalised in your future insurance renewals - even though it's not your fault. The car value thing is difficult - as said you definitely need to give as much evidence as possible on suitable replacements - look everywhere you can for ads - but you might find it difficult to get them to stump up more than 'top book' price. Keep arguing though - and definitely try to use the cost of the hire car to barter with, as once they've settled they won't have to fork out for that anymore. So it's in their interests to settle quickly. Also, depending who you're dealing with at the other insurance, if you're not getting anywhere then go to the top - my mam did that a couple of years ago and things got sorted out then, still not exactly to her satisfaction but much better than before.
  17. RAC definitely cover cars over 10 years old - but may depend exactly which options you choose. I used to be with AA a long time ago, but switched after problems getting a car recovered. I think you'll probably get mixed reviews for all of the breakdown companies, as it just depends on your experience with the service you get if/when you breakdown. I'm not unhappy with RAC so haven't considered any alternatives for ages. I just know that most of the cheap breakdown cover deals/freebies I've seen advertised don't cover older cars.
  18. Welcome to the forum! Kiwi Green sounds, er, different There's always plenty of help on here so I don't think those faults will pose too much of problem (other than the potential expense). Get some pics up as soon as you can.
  19. I'm with the RAC but wasn't aware of that. But, how will they know unless you tell them?
  20. tbh, I don't think red is the best colour for the corrado - so that's possibly biggest problem (not that I don't like red cars myself, just think metallics are better in this case). The ph ad doesn't have that much info in it really (unless I've missed something). Does everything work? The mot has 5 months left (not terrible, but not great either) - what happened on the last MOT - any advisories, anything that's going to need doing this time 'round. Personally, I'm not keen on the wheels, and as said above, I think standard wheels would make it look so much better. (Finally, a pet hate of mine - "very clean inside and out" - means nothing to me, just some standard phrase trade sellers use). Good luck with sale though - I think it's just a case of being patient to get the price you want. I'd certainly consider Autotrader (and ebay)....
  21. Was a problem for me again earlier today (at home this time) - not matter where I tried to go (even the home page) just arse! It can't be browser thing, as I use chrome at home, and firefox at work.
  22. As others have said, I'd seriously look at other postage options - as I'm sure it will put potential bidders off - definitely puts me of bidding on anything on ebay when I see high postage costs. I know RM prices have gone up - but surely something like an abs light weighs less than a kg and would go as a small parcel - which is £4.10 1st class recorded. Also, in case you're not aware of it - you can send a 30kg parcel with Parcelforce48 for 11.99 if you buy it through ebay/paypal. Alternatively you've got things like myhermes, etc. Just trying to be helpful, as postage is a right pain when using ebay these days.
  23. Are these 5x100 (ie. VR6 fitment)? And what size tyres please? And, would you post? Cheers. Edit - the pictures weren't there when I asked whether they were 5x100 !!
  24. That sounds like a good deal! I paid £60 for a new tyre fitted at the same place a fortnight ago - so paying almost £15 to have it taken of a bent wheel and put on a new one this weekend just seemed a tad expensive. I guess it's the Yorkshire blood in me!
  25. Just wondering how much people pay to have a tyre taken off a wheel and put on another wheel? And similarly for puncture repairs? Just paid £14.50 to have a tyre taken off a buckled wheel and put on a brand new rim (including balancing and a new valve). I thought that was a bit steep, or am I just being tight?! I was expecting about a tenner. (Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section)
