  1. Not certain, but seems likely. Had that happen to me a few years ago. Drove to work okay, but when I got back in to drive home - pedal was on the floor. Have you check the hydraulic fluid level / check for leaks? When it happened to me, I was fortunate that GSF were just 10 minutes walk away - so I got some brake fluid, topped it up and managed to drive home. Changing the clutch slave cylinder is straightforward, but fiddly.
  2. I'd like a set for a vr please, if I'm not too late. Cheers.
  3. Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the forum. A lucky purchase indeed with the VSR. More pics required! :D
  4. I had a spell of this at work (which is not good!) using firefox, though it had settled down last week. The same threads worked okay on my phone via 3g at the same time. I've only occasionally had the problem at home (where I use chrome). I know it would disappoint a lot people, but it would be nice if the picture could be changed for something more work friendly.
  5. Having gone through multiple standard hoses (mine's an earlier VR that never had the valve - just a hose) - I didn't want to buy yet another hose - silicone or not - so I'm quite happy with the replacement metal tube (assuming it's still in one piece in a few years time). Conversely, I've never had a problem with the standard inlet, so for me that would be a waste of money - unless it's purely for cosmetic purposes or for smoother airflow.
  6. Excellent - great price. I did think the import duty seemed a bit low, makes sense now!
  7. When I did mine, I was looking for VDO dual sender V360023 with a 10bar measuring range and 0.5bar warning trigger point, thread M10x1. I found an equivalent/same VAG item, part number T11 919 081. I ordered mine from VAGParts website for £22 delivered, but that was back in 2005! It fitted and wired in okay, and did seem to work as expected.
  8. As said above, sounds like you should keep it and fix it - though I guess it might depend what damage if any has been done to the body. Wheels will be relatively cheap to sort out, for a temporary set at least. Stereo and wiring shouldn't be a problem, not a significant cost - though the dash/centre panel may have been damaged? Are you able to beef up the security on the garage?
  9. This is the kit -> http://store.42draftdesigns.com/Mk3-VR6-PCV-Fix_p_309.html Awesome have the kit listed on their website, but when I ordered it from them they phoned up to ask if my car was lhd, when I said it wasn't they cancelled the order. So I bought it direct from 42Draft. The main bit in the kit is the metal tube to replace the crank breather. I was on my 3rd or 4th oem breather and sick of replacing them.
  10. Fitted the 42 Draft Designs PCV fix kit to my VR - as I was sick of buying replacement hoses - hopefully that's a permanent solution now!
  11. Looks like a good price. I've considered buying a press myself - but it's having the space to keep it somewhere, though I guess if you can remove the feet then it would be reasonably flat.
  12. Excellent! Great price - just the import duty and uk shipping to worry about then. Thanks for organising this. :thumbleft:
  13. Southie - do you know the list has 2 number 3 entries........
  14. Great progress thread. :thumbleft: Don't let the problems get you down - you've done great so far, stick at it. It's great to see somebody making such an effort, rather than just breaking another one unnecessarily. Don't know if the proper wind back tool will help with the calipers or not - ideally I'd say get a proper wind back tool anyway, but probably replace the calipers anyway. Keep the updates coming.....
  15. If they turn out to be a good fit and the right finish, then I'd definitely want a set, probably 2.
  16. As others have said, definitely worth a try with hammering a spline into it after soaking with plus gas. I can recommend buying an electic impact wrench though but NOT a 12v one. I tried a 12v one and it was useless (perhaps I was just unlucky), but I now have a mains Clarke one (this one) and it's been very, very useful - especially on strut top nuts! Hope you manage to get it sorted in the end without too much trouble.
  17. I've no idea what that is, as you say could be related to a previous ice install. I wouldn't worry about the disconnected plugs if everything is working okay, I'm sure my vr has some oddments like that. To be certain what that wiring is for you're going to have to trace it I think. Take off the under dash panels both sides and see if you can figure out where it goes. Are you sure everything else is original, no options added later?
  18. I'd like a set for a VR please, no emblem - assuming the final cost is somewhere around £40 or so. Cheers.
  19. Need it posting please. I think I've sent a pm but wasn't sure it worked. Anyway if could let me know total and payment details please. Cheers.
  20. I'll take the scuttle cover please, assuming it fits a vr6.
  21. Yes, as you've guessed this is a common fault. You need a door handle repair kit (I'd get 2 as you WILL need to do both sides eventually) from Daves16v on here. See this thread -> http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?10426-Door-handle-repair-kit-THEY-ARE-NOW-AVAILABLE
  22. I used to use Benfield VW on Scotswood road - some of the guys were really helpful, some weren't - on some occassions when I'd ordered parts on back-order, they didn't bother to phone me to let me know they were in, or to let me know they were obsolete - and then they stopped giving any discount whatsoever on parts, and I've not been back since. Some departments are helpful though, especially if there's a dub enthusiast working there - Lookers VW Teesside have a parts enquiry thread on http://vagcars.co.uk but I don't know if they'll post items - so probably only useful if you're in the Teesside/Darlington area.
  23. Also says "No MOT or tax." but then says "Has sat for the last 4 years but been put through an MOT which it passed 1st time" - very odd.
  24. Good choice of battery I think. Battery disposal - you should be able to take it to a household waste recycling centre, a scrapyard (who may even give cash for it) or possibly to ecp as they may be obliged to accept.
  25. It's been a while since I looked at this in detail - but you *might* be able to recalibrate the tps using vagcom, basic settings mode, but I can't remember. If you search the forum you may find some posts on it. The simplest way to tackle this, is to replace every sensor but that was too expensive for me at the time (and I wouldn't be too keen on doing it now). Hence reverting to heel and toe, which I learnt on my scirocco that had a pierburg carb where the auto choke didn't work.
