Before I drop the sump , for the wishbone bolt .....
robrado974 replied to robrado974's topic in Engine Bay
I'm fine Mic , thank you . I'm stuck now , very frustrating . Nuts n bolts may as well be welded on ! I've plus gassed them so many times . I'm waiting for a mate to come back , he got called into work . You cannot hold a ratchet and a spanner at the same time and undo the nut , that's how I split my forehead lol . -

Ok chaps . Thankyou all for getting back to me , I've dropped the sump . I don't have enough jacks n bits to hold the engine up . It's a bit worrying doing stuff like that on your own . I've already had an accident , bleedin spanner slipped and smacked me straight between the eyes ! -

I only did the oil less than 250 miles back , I had a leak from the gasket , so I removed it then . I was glad to see the sump was very clean. -

I may do that , not sure if I can get to it to cut it , where it needs cutting though . -
I take it there is no other way of getting the bolt out ? Other than moving the engine up slightly which is even more than a faff. Any secret way I don't know about ?. Thanks Rob

Looking great , nice new shiny parts . I hope mine will look like this one day . -
That's the one !

I think I may be a loony too ! . I will be on the lookout for the nuts n bolts . I have most of the parts for the underside , a few more needed . It would be a lot easier to drop the whole lot , chuck it and fit the new parts with new bolts . I started today and got stumped on rounded bolts I've never touched .

Cool pic !

Hope it's sorted for you Hasan .

Sounds like a good run around for the dough buddy .

Thanks Cressa . My battery tray is in pretty good nick , a little surface but not a lot . So yes I will be painting it too. When you lift the wiring up and see all that grease and grunge ! , but that's what's helped to preserve it .
-
It's defiantly not OEM . It was that long ago that I did it , I can't remember where I nicked the idea from . I'm certain it was from someone's car on the forum though .

Thank you Stu .

Thanks Sean . When I was younger I used to get on with it and loved messing around and fixing cars , I'm a little older now and I must say a little worried about delving into a job like this . Especially when your on your own.

I think it was Sean used the 95 beige from Gliptone ? . I got the info and used their product , its probably just because it's an iPhone pic .
-
Yep there's a few 90s dance tapes in there ! . I love the beige , black mix . It breaks it up and goes well together .
-
Thanks Hasan, the Gliptone stuff is pretty good . And it's easy to use .
-
Thanks Easy . While I was taking off the front end , I had a look at the ball joints , they are shot . Yeah it will be nice to get all the new parts on .
-
You too bud .

Ive got to get on with it now Cressa , the rear underside took ages to get started and finished , there are so many parts stored under the spare bed , wardrobes ect lol. I may replace the rad while im at it , it will be just my luck that i get it all back together and the rad will go two months later . It will be nice to get all the new parts on .

Time for a photo update and a few words The interior is now at the stage that im very happy with , the only part which is not in the pics which i have replaced is the hand break cover .I think they are obselete now so i may have grabbed the last one , i have a habit of getting the last bits !. I say happy , i would really like the steering wheel to be refurbed , but funds are tight and the front underside is more important .Aside from that the interior is just about as good as it gets . So last week i decided to take the car off the road , i have a double drive but no garage , so i have given up the rest of the summer driving so i can get to work on the underside . I really dont want to be in the position of working in the dark wet winter nights on the drive , though if i dont get a move on i will be lol. The front end is nearly all off ,i need to remove the front subframe next . I cannot afford any powdercoating, so i will be prepping and painting myself . I was lucky enough to get hold of a really great condition subrame from a mate a while back , with hardly any rust at all , so it has come up very well when painted . Ive also painted the radiator fan frame and the splitter bar . I hope to get back on it tomorrow and get some more work done . Rob .

The springs and shocks are the only thing I'm not replacing , not yet anyway .ive made a start on my jobs Sean . Front end is off , no going back now !.
