  1. Thanks Sean . I've had various paint done in the past , I trust the chap that I used last time a local painter who works next to my friendly mechanic . However he doesn't want to remove the windows and would rather let someone else do the job . There is a firm in Exeter that will remove and fit . If I have an average cost , I won't get my pants pulled down on the price . £144.00 sounds very reasonable indeed . Thanks bud .
  2. Obviously prices vary , I'm just looking in my area in Devon . But would be interested to know a ball park figure . I need the windscreen , rear screen and both rear windows removed . I have rust bubbles on these areas , I've spent to much and had this car too long to leave the rust worm to do more damage . As I said an average cost would help me to know what I need to save and compare to what I get quoted . Thanks , Rob .just wanted to add . The front pillars were replaced , six years ago , so there should be no rot at all in this area , so the screen should be able to be removed with the minimum of fuss .
  3. Sorry buddy , I should get there on Friday .
  4. Will get there next week ! . If I can get stuff for people I will , it's just work is manic ATM . But I will fish them out for you .
  5. Glad it's sorted Jim . I hate my suspension , I don't have coils overs just soft to hard adjustment , even on soft it's crashy .
  6. When the damper goes it doesn't pop n crackle , it goes off like a gun shot . I've been next to a VR when one has exploded , I s&&t my self lol .
  7. Another vote for OEM . I used Tps to get my last set .
  8. Thanks dude , you have no idea how many times I've paced the carpet lol.
  9. Thought i would update my thread . I will get my pics up this saterday of the interior . Ive replaced the two oil senders as they were leaking . Other than general tinkering i havent done much else. Im going to have to do a diy job on the rust bubbles . I have a nasty patch on the roof line by the windscreen seal , one on the rear window just under the seal and one by the rear wiper. I will be looking into prepping these and painting them myself , i just dont have the funds to get it done professionally at the moment .I cant leave it too long , the winter will be here soon and obviously it can only get worse . The summer is not over yet but I'm thinking off taking it off the road . Its only twenty odd quid a month for the tax , but its another twenty quid in the bank .Ive got most of the parts i need to do the front underside , i just need the motivation to start it lol. Ive come so close to selling over the last couple of months, with all the trouble the TSI has brought us . Im still not convinced ive done the right thing by keeping it . The money has gone on the dreaded credit card to pay for the rebuild of the Goof . My head is the sensible part of me, telling me to sell and that you dont need the stress of the debt which is what i should do , but my heart just could not let it go !. Even the Mrs said not to sell , you will begrudge the Goof for it and be unhappy . So for now the VR is staying , it does feel like im living on borrowed time with the car though. Sorry for the moan !.
  10. I haven't been able to get to my mates lock up I'm afraid .
  11. I will check in a bit , I'm sure it does .
  12. I have one bud , but no switch I'm afraid .
  13. Mine appears to be with Marker study . Ins companies seem to be the most underhanded business in world ! .
  14. Good info . When I get round to sorting this out ,ie when funds allow , I will mention this . As far as I can tell there is no damage further down . It will be a windscreen out job for paint though , I won't know of any other damaged until it's taken out though.
  15. I could be wrong Dave , but from what I've heard OEM is the way to go . I thought the more harder after market versions give a harsh ride . I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though .
  16. There are two sensors on the oil housing , I've just replaced mine as it was leaking from them . I think I paid £34.00 for both from TPS .
  17. Sounds pretty cool . Mr Ryder drove your car , are you mad ! Lol. Will look out for it .
  18. Six cars ! . Your Mrs must have the patience of a saint as well lol .
  19. Thanks for all the feedback chaps , it appreciated . Looking at the rust bubbles and from what Sean says , it could have been done when it was fitted . There's no way I can prove that now , it was way back , either that or poor prep and lack of paint on the lip . It really lets the car down in an otherwise lovely car .
  20. Will do , I will let you know ASAP .
  21. I could not believe it when I picked it up. Me and a friend drove to bath in his Corrado to pick up the car. I looked at the windscreen and thought what the bleedin ell as gone on here!. The seal was completely wrong, it was some flappy thing that was not designed for the car , it was a joke . I had told them it was a three part system. They came out again when I got it home , the bloke walked up the drive and said , I've been given the wrong seal , I can tell just by looking at it . The third time after I had rung them and told them yet again it was fitted with the right seal . I can lift it from the top , it looks wet underneath.
  22. Mmmmm, this does not sound good . The windscreen broke on removal when it went in for paint . It had so much bonding in it because of the rust , that it broke when they tried to get it out . As I said , new pillars were fitted and then it went in for paint . So the whole area was mint . What I don't won't to do is remove the outer strip and put it back after inspecting the area , for them to turn round and say it's been tampered with . I'm sure you know how these companies work , anything to get out of paying!. I'm thinking of ringing them to express my concern and they can come and take it out .
  23. When I had my respray , I had a new windscreen and new pillars as they were rotten . Over the past months I've noticed bubbling right on the edge of the outer seal at the top . Am I right in thinking that because it's bonded and has an inner seal it won't be letting water in ? . It was done by the dreaded auto windscreens , I didn't know about private fitting at the time . It took them three attempts to get it right !. As far as I'm aware as long as you still own the car the warranty remains . So if any damage or rust is present I know whose paying for the paint job !.I can't afford to get it painted ATM and I'm worried it's leaking and holding water . I don't have any condensation on the inside after rain or washing the car . Any comments welcome chaps . Kind regards, Rob .
