Hi all.. Had a bit of a search but didn't turn anything up. Noticed this weekend my horn isn't working. Checked the usual stuff and found the fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse and found as soon as I went to use it, it blew the fuse immediately without making a sound. The horn has worked up until fairly recently though I'm racking my memory to think if it's worked since I did the heater matrix job and just wondering if somehow I've managed to put a screw / fixing through a wire somewhere or something equally crap. Any thoughts on common things to check? Anyone had this before? Thanks. Thankfully my MOT is not due for some months but just worries me if I can't trace it as it obviously will never pass without a working horn :( Thanks.

We've not yet been told the number of spaces for the stand so we haven't opened up the event for registration yet. As soon as Eric knows the situation with how many cars we can have, he'll open up registration :)
-
It's kinda like the Classic Car Show but a bit smaller, and the clubs are actually granted permission to do work on their cars on the stand. Guys opposite us were welding and all sorts of stuff last year!
-
Wow - he certainly has some amazing stuff for sale.

Thanks mate! Very pleased to say it was a full committee effort as we had EVERYONE from the CCGB committee together at a show for the first time since I don't know when. Alas the organisers don't tell us that kind of statistic so no real idea on numbers but it certainly seemed as busy as I've ever seen it. Anyone who's been will know that the aisles are literally full of people and it's like that on both Saturday and Sunday from 11am till 4pm at least. Such an amazing, huge show. We've of course applied for a club stand for next year, and the CCGB will have a stand at the Restoration Show at the NEC at the end of March so hope to see some of you there for that :)

Afraid not. My camera is terrible with the lighting in the NEC so I never even bother to take it! Hopefully someone else with a decent camera got a few pictures!

Have had a super weekend so far. Caught up with so many folks off the forum / club, and really enjoyed it hugely. All been out as a big group this evening for a big meal and some beers, and just about to hit the hay ready for the last day tomorrow. Just amazing how quickly the time goes by though :( Soon back to the daily grind.

Thought it was quite touching. And the fact that it actually happened.. well.. it's nice to see it recognised even if in a supermarket advert for a chocolate bar!

Unique karmann colour - twilight bramble mauve. ;)

Laughable. Absolutely laughable.
-
I'd find it worth it just to see how long I could keep a straight face ;) Oh well.. I just hope if someone does buy it, it's worth the money.
-
Might be worth just going to have a look and see if it's condition is anywhere near what it would need to be for that sort of price.. just for the lols!

Good luck with the matrix :) It's really not so bad - just daunting, especially when all the dash is out with cables everywhere. Seriously, if I managed it, ANYONE can do it :)
-
It'll probably be either a leak on the windscreen, maybe your heater matrix, or possibly the gasket on the foliage cover that sits above the heater motor in the scuttle tray on the passenger side. The gasket on those can eventually fail and then it's easy for rain water to cascade in down over the heater motor, etc.

I have to say I put a VT front mount on my 16v and found the increase in vibration, etc into the cabin intolerable - so would personally stick to OE style mounts if I were to have to refresh them all again.
-
It does amaze me how many people buy these cars, and then seem to lose interest in them quite quickly. Not quite sure what they're expecting when they buy a Corrado as I certainly think they punch above their weight given their age, etc.
-
Awesome :) How is your (presumably standard) gearbox holding up with the extra power?
-
I was looking at his profile pic and the air intake and washer bottle had been relocated since that was taken, but I think it does check out. SWG full scuttle cover, red bit of silicon on the BMC air intake, black battery cover, blue coolant hoses... I wonder if he ended up p/x'ing it in the end?

Who's put an early heater control panel in a late car?
Jim replied to fonzooorooo's topic in Interior
3D printed material doesn't seem to be as strong as the 'cast' type plastic that stuff like the heater controls are normally made from so not sure how durable that would be. But I do have the details of a good 3D printing company (who I used to do the speedo binnacle covers) if you want their details to try and get a prototype run of anything made up. -

Good to know :) -
Good work mate. Went through similar pain getting the rear axle bushes out when we did the rear beam on my old valver some years ago. Hacked out the remains of the rubber bushes, then sawed through the remaining collar just enough to not start cutting into the beam. Just a cut through that was enough for it to release it's strength in the beam and could then be reasonably easily removed. Must suck to know all that work has been done on the underside, and the only person who'll get to appreciate it is the MOT tester though ;)

Welcome to the forum. Sub 100K cars are getting increasingly hard to find, but good luck with your search :) There are a couple of very nice cars which I know the owners would consider selling for the right kind of money, but it would all depend on your budget of course.

Just to confirm they are sided, and the RHD version of the part has a number of 536 819 045. The LHD one (on VW Classic Parts) is 535 819 045. -

Good spot. I'll check the parts catalogue and see if they're "sided" .. think they are unfortunately :( -

It's a part we could really do with getting remanufactured :( Wonder if VW Heritage could lean on Classic Parts? I'd certainly order a set of controls if they were reasonably priced as mine are well past it.
