  1. I did try that and mine would not budge for toffee :(
  2. Basically the things that hold the heater box to the bulkhead are screwed into the heater box on one side, and then there's a nut with a captive washer on the engine bay side. Either they act nicely, and when you undo the nut on the engine bay side, it comes out. Or as is probably the case for most Corrado's with 20+ years of engine bay corrosion, that nut is welded onto the thread so as you turn it, it's actually unwinding it from the back of the heater box. Does at least mean then you can put the thing in a vice and dremel the old nut off, and new ones are still available from VAG for not much money. There's two fairly central which need spraying, and then one about 2/3 of the way across the dash about level with the top nut from the heater box which is connected to the ducting that runs between the heater motor, and the heater box.
  3. He's a member on here - RedTyphoon. That thing is unbelievably fast with something like 500BHP!

    Cooling issues

Just curious to know where you picked up your fan switch? I got a pattern part one but it seems to come on far too late (when the coolant is at or near 105-110 centigrade) and I keep meaning to replace it. Did you get a genuine VW one?
  5. It'll either go gently or with a big bang depending on how lucky you are. Mine took the silent approach and the result was: * Very occasional whiff of coolant * Bits of foam from the flaps in the heater box disentegrating and being fired out in my face every time I put the heater on * Coolant level had randomly dropped enough to flash the coolant warning light, one morning despite there being no obvious leaks in the engine bay I'm crap with the spanners but it was definitely a do-able job - just takes bloody ages!
  6. Wow! Well I guess the Corrado would be the 'cheap coupe with a V engine' and then the Monaro mid priced, and the E92 the expensive. Can't wait to see the feature and so awesome to see the Corrado is going to be on Fifth Gear again! :)
  7. I agree with the suggestions to mention it to the police to be honest.
  8. Pull the fuel pump relay. No matter how hard he tries, he won't be starting it in a hurry.
  9. Actually..... a mate of mine is down that way on Saturday to watch Grimsby Town take on Torquay but I think it might be a bit cheeky to get me to get him to meet up with you to pick up the headlight switch so.. I'll settle for paying the postage :)
  10. I have the following information for you Glassmen99 :) If you have any other questions, PM me and I will give you my friends email address - he's happy to answer other questions you may have.
  11. Actually can I get my name down for another one please Matt? :)
  12. Another thumbs up for these. Had one in my VR now for a year or two and it's still perfect. An absolute no brainer part to pick up and put away for the day your old headlight switch finally breaks - because they all do! :)
  13. If its of any use I can put you in touch with a German friend who has gone through the process of importing a UK car, getting it through the TUV test and so forth. Let me know of that would be of any help. Welcome to the forum though :)
  14. If it's of any use there's a place in the UK that can refurb the reflectors in headlights... a lot of folks on here have talked about these guys over the years (myself included) but I'm not sure if anyone has actually used them yet?! :) http://www.dual-metallising.co.uk
  15. Not so sure about that mate - it is apparently pushing 700BHP! I don't think the fact that it's a Volvo has any bearing on things... that's just the shell to house a serious engine and drivetrain.
  16. Faster car in the UK? I guess all the folks who own Bugatti Veyron's over here will be crying into their glasses of champagne. Not. :) The 458 is a quick car, but it's pretty far from a hyper car. And there's plenty of those that'd mop the floor with that Volvo.

AH on my '95 VR key.
  18. E90 M3 is on the bucket list in a couple of years I reckon :) Just need them to get a bit more affordable.
  19. We're gonna need some prices, please.
  20. Nice tidy original looking valver!
  21. Fair enough :) Just letting you know that the worst of the problems seem to be sorted now after a few hasty patches! :)
  22. Chunky 5 spoke alloys always look good on the Corrado - not sure I've seen those before though. What make / model are they?
  23. IOS8 seems fine to me? But then I don't do a lot other than receive emails on the device.
