  1. The only consolation being at least they were complete cars that have gone on to provide parts to keep other Corrado's on the road. Still a crying shame though!
  2. Isn't it just. Also some mental deals on the Focus ST as well lately.
  3. Kinda curious to know where you would stand if you could prove their part failing had directly contributed to major engine damage.. But I would have to agree with Mic on this one. Buy a genuine one from VAG if you can stretch to it for some peace of mind!
  4. Admire your tenacity Rog. Speaking from my own experience, it's not just the inconvenience of the car breaking all the time that's the issue but also the cost - and I don't even have a wife or family to justify the expenditure on the car too, either! Good luck getting this sorted - hope it's nothing terminal on this engine either.. would be seriously gutted for you if it was.
  5. Strong price but a very strong looking car - looks extremely clean and well loved so has to be worth that all day long.
  6. Removed mine from the car windscreen last night along with my expired work parking permit. Quite weird having no crap cluttering up the edges of the screen any more! :)
  7. Try these guys, Kev - I ordered a Scirocco MK2 Otto model for a friends birthday earlier this year from them and they were great to deal with and cheaper than anyone else on Otto stuff that I could find. Item was with me the next day and extremely well packaged. http://www.swapmeet-models.co.uk/
  8. Looks good :) Welcome to the forum!
  9. There was some speculation on Pistonheads that is was more likely not to be one of the desirable / rare Mexico's but more likely one of the later types - apparently they re-used the name Mexico on I think MK3 or MK4 Escorts?
  10. It's just a little earth strap that connects from the bulkhead to the bonnet. It's a pain in the arse - I've replaced them several times on my Corrado's but they always corrode and break in exactly the same way. So far as I can tell it makes zero difference having there so don't lose sleep over it.
  11. Unbelievable. Looks like it was total chaos there. You'd think there may be a little common sense as the road does look greasy and it's right next to a petrol station so plenty of opportunity for diesel etc being spilled. Lots of nimrods in leased expensive cars is all it looks like to me, trying to show off to kids.
  12. Are there ever going to be any plans for making OEM style silver finish Corrado badges? There's a huge demand for them I think.
  13. Indeed. I keep wrestling with my conscience around leasing a car, but when I see what that'd cost vs like keeping the Corrado on the road and/or picking up (another) nice old 7 series which is just going to something I enjoy driving WAY more, I just can't bring myself to do it.
  14. Some people can't even afford a car, let alone two :) So I'd say all isn't that bad!
  15. Well not entirely. In fact it pretty much guaranteed the parts. Part of the scheme was that the cars could be taken to scrap yards and stripped for parts, so if anything it probably helped generate a surplus of used Corrado parts!
  16. You got a whole 16v Corrado's performance with that remap. Heh.
  17. Jeez that looks a bit battered. But someone got a bargain at 700 quid.
  18. From speaking to some audio enthusiasts and experts very recently on this subject, essentially the advice was quite loudly to forget about the rear 6x4's. They're too small to make any meaningful contribution to your sound setup in the car - so just put some new / reasonable replacements in of any brand, and concentrate on the soundstage up front.
  19. Couple of BMW 750 (V12's) and even some 8 series including another V12, an M3, an M5... ooft :( There does seem to be some nonsense in the data too though... apparently they scrapped 2 BMW Mazda 323 Series! 79 Scirocco's too.
  20. It makes for grim reading, in terms of what cars were scrapped under the scheme. Pistonheads story about it here: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=30915 The entire list of vehicles is available as a CSV file download here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/357672/bis-foi-2014-20775-scrapped-vehicles-supporting-data.csv An eye watering 64 Corrado's were scrapped :( Also a Polo G40. Philistines!
  21. Christ - that's a difference you'd feel! Most impressive. I bet it goes like a train!
  22. I was only just at Goodwood for the Revival a few weeks back.. hence my uncertainty about slogging back down there again. Will give it some thought this coming week!
  23. Would love to come down for this if it wasn't such a huge drive. Hmmm.
