Speedo Binnacle Covers - Group Buy Feeler - P12 - Prototypes fitted, all OK!
Jim replied to Jim's topic in Group Buy Feelers
I'm about to be away for a couple of days (back Sunday) - anyone who pays I will pop onto the forum to check / acknowledge but won't be able to post any until next week. For those that haven't paid up I'll be working through and dropping you off the list in favour of other people in this thread who missed out on this first batch as I need to get them all sold now. Cheers. -
Message from the owner I've said I'll post, saying that the car isn't a Storm despite the badging. I was curious as I couldn't tell if it was Aqua Blue or Mystic Blue and had just been liberated of it's BBS Solitudes and black leather interior.

Doh :( Thanks for the positive feedback all the same! -
A set of dubpower leads are pretty cheap so a sensible starting point, no doubt about it, even if only to rule out ignition leads as the cause :)

Since my engine rebuild job I have been experiencing similar. Took it back to Graham to get checked out and he traced the problem to an injector starting to play up.. not sure if just dirty and needing a clean, or whatever, but he's just fitted a set of refurbished injectors and says it's cured now :) So may be worth looking into.

There is a lot to be said for something new or nearly new, with a warranty, that's cheap to tax, where everything works, and where you just drive it and service it. Sounds like a nice motor you've picked up :)

The following folks have either not replied at all, but asked for additional time to pay but have gone past when they said they'd pay by: owen g60, volksworld13, eugopnasoj, wesleyvr6, jonny_ash, Album56, sankysvr6, Hatton VR6, spiderfish, Riley, Supercharged.. This is your final chance.. I'll be PM'ing the next people in the thread who wanted sets! Cheers. Thanks Michael! Appreciate the positive feedback from everyone who's bought these. Subject to clearing this lot of trim, I'll look into some other parts we can get reproduced subject to demand. Would be interested to hear some ideas for any parts that are hard to find. Bear in mind they also need to be financially viable as 3D printing isn't especially cheap as the size of the item gets bigger, and as we established with these can be a little brittle unless we make some design improvements to strengthen them! :) -
Glad you caught it quickly Chris.. Must have been a bit of a brown trouser moment!
-
Sure I have seen it listed on VW Classic Parts..
-
I don't think that's any less than VW were charging for them to be fair.
-
Where are you based? I live about 2 minutes from the Costco in Coventry and would be happy to pick one up for you and hang onto it till a meet or whatever.
-
When you say it coughs.. does it actually start and run, then cut out immediately afterwards?

Another (small) batch sent today. Lots of folks who've still not responded to the PM I sent. Please let me know what you want to do either way. Thanks. -
I thought that but am completely unable to find the Continental belt on their website - they only list the Dayco one for the VR now..

Super :) Glad to see a pair fitted! -
Doesn't look like the right belt.. there's no way it should overlap on the pulley. I reckon it must be the bearing going that's causing the vibration in the tensioner. Best thing is just to remove it and have a look - will only take 5 minutes to get off the car. And definitely change that belt!!
-
What did you do to service it mate? I always thought the plastic lining is the 'lubricant' and that sticking WD40 or sommat down it wasn't recommended? Happy to take some advice from more knowledgable folks tho!
-
If you could upload a video illustrating the problem it'd be helpful! :)
-
It needs to be a really long M8 bolt too, to clear the fuel lines that sit right above the tensioner. They ideally want to be at least 4-5 inches.
-
Changing the bearing is extremely easy. I'm a complete wuss when it comes to spannering on my car but I did this repair about 15,000 miles / 3 years ago and it's been fine ever since. Someone even, very thoughtfully, turned it into a Wiki article :) http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_belt_tensioner_pulley_repair.html
