  1. I'm really not sure what 'normal' behaviour is for this. I certainly saw it when I was trying to get air out of the system on my car, but I'm not sure once the system is free from air and running normally whether you get coolant returning to the header tank.
  2. Yeah - just to reinforce Ian's point about the coolant. You just need VW G13+ appropriately mixed with water (instructions are on the bottle), with no additional additives or anything. Did the fans come on with the engine running or only after you turned the car off?
  3. It does reek of airlocks still I have to say. The VR can be a bit stubborn for getting all the air out of the system as I found recently changing the radiator on mine. The 16v was a lot less hassle for this. After changing the coolant out of the car, I had to get it warmed up with the expansion cap off, and kept squeezing all the large coolant pipes to help force water round the system. It also took an age for the thermostat to open so you can't really get water moving around properly until then. I'd let it get to that point, and let it all cool down, then restart the car and kept doing it several times before letting it get properly warm and letting the coolant in the expansion tank start to steam and get a bit lively before putting the lid on. And make sure you've got the blue coolant expansion tank lid, and not the black one :)
  4. Seems to be missing a zero there :)
  5. And make sure they are using genuine VW G13 coolant and not some aftermarket ****e! :)
  6. Temperature shouldn't really be getting to 110 after 20 minutes driving. Is that coolant or oil temperature? What is the corresponding oil / water temperature when the other temperature gets to 110?
  7. Really want the comfort indicator but would have no idea how to install it, even though it looks pretty much plug and play from the pictures?

    lower grill

Indeed - it might well just be a visual thing rather than a fitment issue but ETKA says that the 'E' part is for 16V and G60, and the J part for 16V and VR6. Which would sort of moot the additional holes for cooling thing.
  9. Appreciate it's meant with good intentions, but is a legal minefield. There's no way we could have it advertised on here so locking the thread. Cheers.
  10. That membrane sure isn't in a good state!! Hopefully you can reuse the existing bonding glue type stuff - it seems to stay sticky for eternity! Just push the new membrane onto it once you've cut it out.

    lower grill

Hm - seems to confirm it... 535 853 671E for earlier cars.. 535 853 671J for later cars.. You're going to need the E suffix one. Listed as costing approximately £50 on ETKA if you fancy trying your luck at the local VW dealers! :)

    lower grill

The early and late front bumpers are slightly different but I'd be really surprised if the lower grille is different too? I'll fire up the parts catalogue and have a look..

    Which vr6 coil overs?

Absolutely perfect height for a VR for me!
  14. Dark Burgundy Pearl isn't especially rare on the 1.8 16v, but it does look good - and yours looks pretty tidy. Good luck with the sale! :)
  15. Does suggest that a thorough check around the carpets, and inspection of the membranes might not be a bad thing to do! I get mist the whole way round (every window) but usually the rear is one of the first to go / more stubborn to clear - yet I'm quite certain that all the blue grommets are in place and in good condition under all the badges at the rear.
  16. It's a weird thing - I never even notice whether a car is 3 or 5 door most times.
  17. Heheh.. though must say I never got the hatred that some people have for five doors. The car is the same as the 3 door, just.. more practical. Is a 3 door chassis more rigid?
  18. Unbelievable!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151210402629?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  19. Yep mine is a daily currently , and I'm also suffering from insane amounts of fogging up. I even bought a pair of those eBay silica gel bag things but they don't even make a dent some days. I can only assume the seals are past their best and moisture finds its way into the cabin somehow but.. I have no idea really. Would love to get to the bottom of it! Otherwise mine is soldiering on pretty good. Hoping to move even closer to work soon where it'll make absolutely no sense to drive any more, and the Corrado will then get garaged and I'll be walking to work. Should help reduce the miles and the overall wear on the old girl!

    Which vr6 coil overs?

KW's seem pretty well regarded. However if you're not too bothered about height adjustment and are happy with a fixed height drop, might be worth considering some Koni T/A's or similar so you can at least adjust the level of damping rather than ride height?
  21. I'm sure it's an idea that's been mooted before but the problem is the AGM is actually a 'business' type affair where club matters need to be discussed and it's a couple of hours - and typically locations where we have the National Day don't tend to have conference facilities! :) Plus we like to pitch the National Day as being family friendly, etc whereas the AGM is a bit too.. formal / boring.. for partners and kids!
  22. Yes - 3D printing and 3D scanning is the intention. It's a pretty simple, small part but it's highly prized / in demand which is why I thought it would be an ideal starting point. And if it proves to be easy, is affordable and is quite successful, it might be the gateway to getting more obsolete parts reproduced as Volkswagen continues on it's steady path to erase the Corrado from it's parts catalogue :(
  23. Mine has gone a bit shiny now but I reckon it'll still sell to take a bit of a dent out of the cost of the new wheel :)
  24. I think this is going to be a very, very drawn out affair so I hope folks are OK to wait. After an initial response from the company (which took quite a long time to come to me anyway) I replied near enough within 30 minutes. This was a week ago, and I've still had no reply. It's quite frustrating in this day and age how companies can treat email based queries so lazily but.. there we go. So I hope folks are happy to wait. Updates will come whenever I get them. If it ends up dragging on too badly, I may investigate other avenues. Thanks.
