  1. Roger - I moved up from 10w/40 to the Silkolene/Fuchs Pro Race S 10w/50 stuff. It made a noticable improvement to the amount of noise from my engine I have to say (it sounds like ours are getting similarly tired) but was extremely expensive at about £65 for 1x 5 litre and 2x 1 litre bottles. You can buy it from Opie Oils.

    Will it fit?

Apparently you cannot get a Corrado bonnet, into a Corrado :(

    new car

    Very nice Karl :)
  4. Definitely one to pursue Classic Parts about putting into production, especially with prices as ridiculous as that!
  5. Hi mate.. the rules are that you need to put a fixed selling price to sale items. Please put up a price, even if it's a guideline and you'll invite offers. Cheers.

    DBP VR6 Daily

Can't believe thats the second VR6 in a week that's failed in the same way! Horrendous news. I hope you manage to get it back on the road without too much expense - good luck!
  8. I can't imagine there are that many Corrado owners who are active UK MKIV's members to be honest, purely given that it's geared around newer VW's. Any chance of sharing a picture?
  9. INA are the ones I've always been strongly advised to go for!
  10. VW really value their enthusiast owners. I think we have already established that to be the case. They really don't deserve the loyal following they have sometimes.

    US front bumper

Depends how flush you're feeling but these are available new from VW Classic Parts. 420 euro's to you, sir.
  12. Agreed - 18's are just too big on the Corrado. You'll have problems with rubbing, it'll handle like crap, and ride will be backbreaking!
  13. My oil pump is certainly getting noisy.. had it on the ramps a few weeks back and it sounded quite um.. well, you could certainly hear it chuntering away. Graham said that it definitely sounds like it wants changing. And like you Jim Bowen, thinking of ditching the 263's if / when I go in for an engine rebuild.
  14. I think the tappet change might be a waste of time, and I'm starting to get curious as to whether this is some side effect of running schimmel SP263 cams - does yours have them fitted, Roger? I forget the name of the forum member who I was talking about this problem with but he'd posted up similar sounding problems to both you and me and was fairly sure it was valvetrain noise. He decided to swap the tappets and this did fix the problem for a few weeks but it didn't take long for the problem to come back. He too, I think, had the Schimmel cams. I'm not rubbishing them as I think they're excellent and the power gains can't be disputed, but I just wonder if they're doing something to one of the valves or tappets that wears them in a very specific way, to make them noisy? Graham at DG had a listen to mine and said that a head rebuild would ideally be wanted - he suspect the noise is down to worn valve seats I think (though I may be misquoting him here).
  15. Good work. The silicone sealant alone set off the alarm bells - means they've had problems before and tried to effect a cheap repair rather than just replacing the thing - which is understandable I suppose as new ones aren't cheap!
  16. This seems to be a VR issue as they're getting into truly tall mileage. I've discussed it with other members on here in the past. Do you find you get the noise appearing at certain revs and then vanishing at some revs? And some days does it seem louder than others? I get similar, often from the air box rather than chains side. I think the only way round it is going to be a full head refurbishment.
  17. Hi swampy - can you please confirm if you have outstanding orders to fulfil for people on the forum. This thread was bought to my attention, and after a lot of digging it's not entirely clear if all orders were settled and any refunds promised actually paid. Thanks.
  18. I always liked those - and as you may or may not know I ran an Octavia VRS (MK2) for a year up until pretty recently.. was a superb car, and would have taken it over a similar age / spec Audi or VW any day of the week.
  19. Nearly £1,000 to, essentially, replace a headlight. Insane. I appreciate that xenon's do light the road up nicely but the cost associated with them is so ludicrous, I think I'd rather live with regular headlights!
  20. A scenario that any VR6 owner would dread - good luck getting the car back on the road and hope it doesn't bankrupt you too badly! :(
  21. Stealth know the 1.8 16v's really well - a visit to them will be money well spent :)
  22. Really? Damnit! That's a bargain! :( I can't imagine they'll have any more left at that price.
  23. Did you buy the cylinder head direct from VEGE, mate? And if so how much?
