  1. Shall bookmark this to watch later - thanks :)
  2. The engine bay looks to be a different colour - respray?
  3. Always appreciate forum members doing this sort of thing for otherforum members. Fingers crossed the part numbers check out.. Look forward to receiving and fitting a shiny new steering wheel!
  4. May look into this when the weather gets a bit better - how easy is it to drop the headlining at the back to access the aerial? Something I've never had to do but always had visions it'd be some kind of nightmare..
  5. Looks like one of the pipes that goes into the heater matrix - but kinda hard to tell from the picture!
  6. First I've heard of it .. look forward to hearing about it though!
  7. I so can't afford a new wheel for my car at the moment but this is such a good price and I'd be amazed if I couldn't get like £50 for my old wheel (minus the centre) which is still in reasonable shape. Thanks for sorting this out Ron - will fire some money over later tonight but I'm 100% in. Cheers.
  8. Yeah - that's all there is to it. You just wrench the horn cover off, disconnect the wire that makes the horn work and undo the nut holding it onto the column. Remove, and replace.
  9. What has whether I'd do it got any bearing on anything?! Some folks are mega hands on with their cars and wouldn't think anything of doing an engine swap over a weekend.. I was just throwing it out there :) I'm not one of those types of people but plenty of folks on here are!
  10. You got space / time to work on and store both cars? Buy back your old one, get the engine and all the decent bits swapped from that into the grey one, and the less good bits into the green one.. then sell the green one, and then get the bodywork sorted out!
  11. Well - at least it's one of those jobs you'll probably never have to do again :)
  12. Ugh - always makes me sad when I hear of Corrado's getting smashed up in accidents, especially when it's not even your fault :| Good luck getting it all sorted!
  13. That's too thin for the VR6, especially ones of advancing years IMHO. New / tight VR6 engines seem happy on 5w/40, then progress onto 10w/40 generally. I'd stick with 10w/40 personally (just use VW Synta Silver).
  14. There's definitely one or more guys over there who can deal with you in English - I've had English responses to queries I've sent in the past :) Would also be interested in a wheel at that price - just too much of a bargain to pass up.
  15. Was chatting with Stealth Racing about this as apparently the R32 got this. Just pulls in additional fresh outside air, and puts it straight back out the exhaust, thus 'diluting' the emissions with fresh air and making it seem to be more environmentally friendly. I'm slightly confused how they got away with it to be honest.

  17. For whatever reason, the Golf became the most iconic / recognisable cars whilst the Scirocco's and Corrado's only seem to remain popular amongst journalists and ex-owners. I'm really not sure that'll change in the future and I just don't know that either Corrado or Scirocco will be as popular (or valuable) as Golfs from the same era, relative to their original retail prices.
  18. Nevermind - I just checked. Part number checks out! An absolute bargain!
  19. Has anyone confirmed this part number on ETKA to be the leather steering wheel? Just that I have a vague recollection that VW produced a wheel with the same shape as the Corrado VR6 wheel, but in a cheaper plastic rather than leather finish..
  20. Just so hard to know really. I've got to be honest and say I've never been really crazy about them.. though I would quite like a MK2 Scirocco 'Tropic' in Kiwi Brown.
  21. I had an eye opening experience today whilst out looking for a new car with a friend. He's decided he wants a Honda Civic Type-R (EP3). His budget should net him a good condition 2002-2003 model with average mileage. We drove to look at two today and I was rather disappointed. Both were up for sale with dealers. The first was a very nice guy, no problem letting us take the car out for a test drive.. but within minutes of us arriving I noticed countless little issues with the car: * Alloys corroded to hell (apparently a Type-R problem) * Paintwork in a pretty poor condition with stone chips aplenty * Grotty interior, many contact points (switches, etc) all worn away * Engine bay looked pretty tired, noticed there seemed to be an oil leak from the rocker cover gasket * Lever missing from the seat tilt for letting passengers in the back * Brake pads looking pretty worn all round * Missed services in the service book, very few useful receipts for any work actually done * Battery flat, windows all misting up… Driving it didn't get much better. I was immediately concerned at how the car didn't really want to go into gear some times, and clutch bite point seemed very far down on pedal travel. Then drove to see another one - lower mileage, and seemed OK but countless bits of overspray, mismatched paint, scratched trim, rust starting to appear. Engine sounded OK but didn't even bother with a test drive as I didn't want to waste the guys time. I don't know if I'm just expecting too much from a 10 year old hot hatch (which will no doubt have been ragged by every owner) and I think perhaps I've been spoiled by surrounding myself with folks who are enthusiasts for the cars that they drive, here on the Corrado Forum and in the CCGB. Aside from my engine sounding a bit tired, my VR looked far more loved and 'complete' than either of those cars despite being almost twice and old and having done twice as many miles! I think it spoke a lot that we got back into my friends previous generation X reg Civic - interior is mint, drives really nicely, doesn't feel clapped out…
  22. Funnily enough I'm not sure if they're even sold in Germany. Had some German friends over last year and one of them was unbelievably excited to go out for a passenger ride in the Octavia I had at the time - they really liked it!
