This is why I'm enquiring about a prototype pair - I don't want to take £400 from members, for a substandard product. We're up to 47 pairs 'spoken for'… only 3 more left! -
I'm going to wager he's definitely US based still :)

Looks superb - welcome to the forum :)

I'm convinced there's some shady listings going on in their classifieds at the moment. A friend of mine is car hunting currently and we looked at several classifieds yesterday which listed something like "I can't be contacted through piston heads but please call this number" - in every case the cars were way, way too cheap for what they were… I'd give that a wide berth personally.

I'd try and factor in a free pair for you as you sorted us out with the 'master' items to be scanned :) -

OK guys and gals - I have some good news :) I had a reply from the original company I was looking to use. They've come back with a price of £400 for 50 pairs of the covers to be produced - which works out as £8 + some postage (which I'll work out the best way of doing once I actually have the covers). At this point in time I think I'm going to limit our first order to just 50 pairs (which will satisfy our current list of people plus leaves some room for a couple more folks to put their name down) just for convenience as I do have quite a lot on currently and could do without this being an ongoing concern - but of course once they have the CAD model I don't see why we couldn't put in additional orders later on down the line. I'm going to enquire about whether they can do a prototype pair that I can test fit to my own car, and once I'm satisfied with them and the quality of them, I'll update the group buy and declare it as going ahead. -
I honestly think I'd take the Octavia! Thought mine was terrific.

I would say at that price point it's worth looking at the same era Octavia VRS - same engine, arguably more practical, and you can get more car for your money (as a lot of people are still sniffy about Skoda) :)

We're up to a potential 43 pairs already. Great response guys. Still zero response from the company on the email address I tried (not a great start!) so I will attempt to get through to them via their contact page instead. Have also made contact with a different company to keep my options open! -
Looking at this old sensor diagram from another 16v head, it looks like that is indeed just a blank hole.. you can see it underneath the coolant flange..

Rare/Sought After/Desirable Corrado parts - What Ya Got?
Jim replied to Jamie's topic in General Car Chat
I don't have any rare parts.. apart from a brand new in the box pair of 'Corrado' sill cover strips! -

They will cost not a penny more than it costs me to get them scanned, printed, and posted. But if it works out as something insane like £25 a pair or something even I can't imagine many people will want to proceed. But we'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it. -

Indeed - I might see about dropping them a line. Maybe arrange a group buy on these parts and see what they can do on like 20 pairs. I'd suggest folks keep registering their interest and we can go from there! -

Yes - but I was under the, clearly mistaken impression, that these were obsolete and no longer available! Already looks like there's not much point in doing this group-buy?! -

Cheers chaps. No reply from the company yet. I will keep you all updated as and when it progresses along. -
I'd have suggested Roose Motorsport but I don't think they've done a 16v engine kit - if they have they could probably mix and match a kit together for you if you know exactly which ones you need. Failing that I guess it'll have to be Samco..
-
It's a 2.0 16v mate :) I still reckon ISV. I was thinking Lambda sensor when you said it runs ok for first five minutes then starts to go lumpy. But the fact you can keep it running by revving it rules that out in my mind.

Well I guess you'd need to get both a Corrado 16v and a (whatever the donor was) 1.8T silicone kit, and fit the ones applicable to your installation, and just sell the rest?

My hope is they'll be a gloss black plastic and won't need painting! -
Hi folks.. Thanks to diarmaid16 very kindly loaning me a pair of new speedo binnacle covers, I'm making enquiries with a company I talked to at the NEC Classic Car show, who reproduce obsolete car parts by 3D scanning and 3D printing them. They showed me a demo of the hardware they use, and I also had the chance to check out some items they'd already printed - it was all quite impressive. At this point I have literally no idea on possible prices, and lead times for getting them made. However my intention would be for them to be no more than something like a tenner a pair, bearing in mind that the cost for the covers will need to factor in the scanning, and any tidy up work on the image that's scanned as well as the manufacturing costs. The benefit with the 3D printing solution is that there should be no tooling costs so the prices shouldn't be insane. If they do turn out to be expensive, we'll need to get a consensus on whether there are people who want these parts so badly they're willing to pay more, and decide whether we still go ahead. So at this point, I just want to know who would be interested in a pair (or pairs), subject to them being a reasonable price. More details will follow as soon as I have them! Thanks.
