  1. Precisely mate. I'd be happy to - but I'm sort of leaving him active as I'd like to at least hear him justify his actions or explain his thinking. I'm not sure we're gonna get that sort of common sense though.
  2. Best in the country.. Hah. Would love to see if it actually lives up to its hype.
  3. You cab get DAB aerials that replace existing bee sting aerials like those on the Corrado and its multifunction too so has connection for DAB, FM and I think even GPS.. But it was like 90 quid. Maybe another time!!

Just go for genuine original ones - they'll last for years and years :)
  5. Guess ours are a couple of old timers! :)
  6. Ok - pictures attached, showing the head unit and aerial. Outside: Inside (two tax disc holders is because of work parking permit which is also tax disc sized): Stereo - off: Stereo - on: Hope that gives you an idea :)
  7. Halfords one in a medium size - almost like it's designed to fit the Corrado! Think it costs about £60 :)
  8. Unbelievable. I know a forum user on here talked about putting an Audi 4.2 V8 into a Corrado, but the updates sort of fizzled out on that one - not a surprise given how much of a monumental task it looks. This guy looks like he knows no fear. Amazing. Can't wait to see it finished!
  9. It's not too bad mate - the head unit is this one: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_1007676_langId_-1_categoryId_165655 Doesn't look too blingy in person (but is pretty far from being understated like Blaupunkt radios, etc), and the illumination colour is customisable - there is a Corrado illumination type green colour, but it is quite bright.
  10. At the end of the day it seems pretty short sighted mate. You chose to use pictures of one of the most well known Corrado's in the country - it's been magazine featured, has won countless trophies at VW events up and down the country. I fully understand why Kip reacted the way he did to you using his pictures, and your subsequent lack of interest in taking the pictures down. Paul has worked extremely hard to get his car to that standard and he doesn't want people using pictures of it to advertise their goods, probably for several reasons - firstly it might lead people to believe that these are parts in excellent condition from a show winning Corrado. Secondly, if people receive a less than satisfactory experience in dealing with you (which I'm not saying they would, but saying hypothetically) then they will quite possibly assume that you are the owner of KIP VW - and if they see you at a show in the future, they might decide to have it out with you, assuming you to be the same person. What blows my mind is after all the negativity you've received on both here, and from people directly on eBay, how you can't seem to see that you've done anything wrong and instead feel you're entitled to pursue police and legal action. Frankly you need to re-evaluate your priorities.
  11. I can't tell if there's a difference between VR6 and the 4 cylinder versions. Certainly doesn't seem to be a different diagram for it...
  12. Will try and grab some tomorrow if I think about it. And you're in luck... I notice you're in Lincolnshire. It's likely I'll be driving up to Grimsby on New Years Day in the Corrado will get a chance to try the DAB reception on way through places like Market Rasen, etc.
  13. Genuine originals are available from VW Classic Parts in Germany, or via VW Heritage in the UK. Make sure you're sitting down when you get the price though :)
  14. Thought I'd post up a little thread now that I've had the stereo in the car for a few days. Like many, i've suffered from continual radio reception problems in my Corrado, apart from (randomly) the time I had the whole front end off the car for a radiator swap a few months back. After I put it back together it seemed to tune into everything crystal clear for a few days, but has gone back to being utterly hopeless. I could basically only get Radio1/2/3/4 but reception was continually patchy and breaking up. I thought about a new aerial and and then having to drop the headlining, etc and instead thought maybe time to get with the times and try out DAB. Also meant I could get a head unit with a USB port for iPod or Pen Drive's loaded with music. Picked up a £99 Pioneer unit from Halfords, and their £20 windscreen mounted aerial and installed it all a few days ago. Standard stuff for installing the head unit (comes with all the cabling to connect to the Corrado wiring harness, the metal cage it mounts into - and remember to switch the red/yellow cables so that the head unit keeps its settings after you remove the ignition key!), and the windscreen mount I affixed to the top of the windscreen of the passenger side and ran the cabling down behind the A pillar trim. The aerial also needs a 12V feed so I took that from the wiring loom of the head unit (the switched 12V feed). It may not be suitable for those who like their Corrado's totally original and unmolested but I'm quite pleased with how discreet it is. To aid installation I had the passenger under-dash shelf and glovebox out (relatively easy to do) so that I could easily see what was going on with the cabling, etc. I'm blown away by how good it is! Since putting it in, I've been driving around with the radio on pretty much constantly and it's been crystal clear and perfectly uninterrupted the entire time. I'm still working out how it all works but seem to have 12 stations (mostly BBC ones) immediately available. If you like radio in your Corrado, but have reception problems as I've had for some time, I can only recommend this option.
  15. It is terrible news really, regardless of how you feel about old Schumi - as I know he certainly divides opinion. Can only hope he goes on to make a full recovery, either quickly, or more gradually ala Richard Hammond. Sounds like he got good quality medical care, very quickly and obviously he's in excellent physical shape - so hopefully the deck is stacked in his favour.
  16. Pretty shocking for a museum piece too - I'm not lying when I say that cars like Paul Kippax's, and Chris Gaskell's old Storm were in better condition than the VW museum one. Actual scrapes on the bodywork, mud in the arches.. it was crying out for some TLC from an enthusiast but instead languishes in a forgotten corner of the museum. Sad.
  17. Indeed - it doesn't have to be just one person. A few folks helping to organise occasional local meets, suggesting venues to the events organiser would be terrific.
  18. We'd love regional hosts to come back too - but simply no-one volunteering for the positions.

That's just aching to be put back to standard! Wouldn't need much, and I'm sure selling those big TarOx brakes would go some way towards getting the cash together for putting it back to original.
  20. Nice one Alex - look forward to seeing this project progress :)
  21. That's an interesting suggestion indeed! Certainly is an amazing part of the country! :) Wonder if there are any big shows or venues up that way, as we do always try and join an existing meet or similar or a venue to give folks something to do throughout the day.
  22. Heh... you should ask something like "I've seen the underside of this car at a number of shows and know it to be in great condition - I believe the rear axle was recently refurbished and rebushed. Are you looking to sell that?"
  23. Unfortunately I never took any pictures, but the guide that Cazza has linked to has a few in. It's pretty straightforward, and to be honest I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Corrado DIY - I didn't even own a drill so had to go and buy one to do the modification! But with the bolt and nut in place (as well as a few washers) it tightened up the whole column really nicely - the MOT tester hopped in the car for the retest and said "Ahh - that's a LOT better. I'm happy with that.." so it definitely did the job! The added bonus is that if you're careful how you drill, the mod is just about reversible so you could fix it for the MOT and put it back again if you really need the adjustable column - fortunately for me at the adjusted height, it's pretty much bang on how I angle the column anyway so I've kept it in place :)
