Another Midlander - where abouts are you based? Just sold a car to Volkswizard - very nice chap indeed :)

You have to unhook it from the back of the throttle pedal, and then actually feed the entire cable (including the outer sheath) up through the bulkhead and pull it out through the engine bay, and then unhook it from the throttle body. You don't just replace the inner cable if you order a new one from VW - you replace both the inner cable and the outer plastic together as a single part. It's quite easy once you get your head into the footwell!

I'm rather dissatisfied to hear about this. Will escalate for the attention of the other mods. Thanks.

Super choice and destined for future classic status surely... I honestly don't remember the last time I saw one of these on the road! :) Very nice indeed mate.

Didn't notice it was a P reg before... not many P reg Corrado's around!
-
Great residuals too... a friend of mine has had his over a year and it's not actually lost any resale value at all. Wish I could have said the same for my Octavia!!

Well I've had the pleasure of quite a few drives in the new Scirocco now, thanks to the generosity of the VW Press Office: 2008: Took the just released Scirocco 2.0 TFSI to the 20th Birthday Corrado event in Germany for 5 days. 2011: Scirocco R for a weekend 2012: Scirocco BlueMotion driven 1,500 miles around the UK in 24 hours doing the 3 Peaks Challenge! Honestly they were excellent cars, every time. If I were in the market for a new car in that sort of class, the Scirocco would have to be the choice. I think they look great, they're all pretty brisk regardless of what engine you get, comfortable over long distances (can definitely confirm that). Great cars :) As for VW releasing a new Corrado - that'd be awesome too. Not least because it would trigger a flurry of rose-tinted reviews about the old Corrado from all the motoring mags, and I would at LAST have some content for the CCGB magazine ;)

Most classic insurance companies make that point quite clearly, and for the majority of folks they insure their Corrado on a classic policy as a second car - with their NCB used / accrued on a different car.

I'd love it if someone here had access to a wind tunnel so we could try reproducing the tests and doing our own measurements :) Apparently MIRA's is about £500-£600 an hour :|

MK2 Octavia VRS with a Shark Performance remap will see you at 240BHP easily. I just sold mine for £4,400 with 62k on the clock, FSH, and a few desirable options so they're out there in your price range. Was a truly excellent car as well!

I think maybe at 45MPH it's not going to help much but there are some good photo's of the effect of the spoiler in the wind tunnel showing that it does seem to have some effect.. I believe the idea wasn't just for downforce but also for stability under braking?
-
I am surprised to hear that as over the last 7-8 years on here I've only heard positive (glowing in fact) comments about his work.

Genuine VR6 radiators are now obsolete... the Hella ones which can be found on eBay have been tried and tested by several forum members and are supposed to be very decent.

To be honest I'd take a day off work and go visit this guy in Guildford: http://www.trim-wizard.co.uk/ He's done countless alarm installs for Corrado owners and has tens of satisfied customers on here. He knows Corrado alarm installation inside out. Given how much of a lottery it is getting a decent alarm fitter, if I was to have to get another alarm install done, I'd be seeing this guy.

The handbrake 'grip' is really the only hard bit, Pete - once you've got that off removing the rest is a 5 minute job tops! Assuming they're not already broken, be careful of the four C shaped mounts at the bottom of the handbrake tunnel which are anchored in place by four screw on plastic 'bolts' - they're VERY brittle and it's easy to over tighten those bolts and break them so the centre tunnel doesn't anchor down properly and ends up rattling round. Bit of a double edged sword as, if you don't tighten them up enough, they come loose too..
-
I should have some kicking around.. i'll check and get back to you.
-
You do seem to be missing a little white rubber 'plug' that sits on the top on the right hand side - it fits into the hole on the top right..
-
There is a little spoiler control module which controls which speed the spoiler activates at. I think the 45/55MPH difference is purely an early / late thing though not 100% sure on that. They are interchangeable if you really want it to come up at a lower speed. And without getting involved in soldering the speed can't be changed from the 45/55MPH options sadly.

Looks pretty decent quality to me and should be more than enough to cover you in the event of an accident that's not your fault! Be interested to see what the quality is like at night though..

I know winter is on the way out (finally!) but having just sold my Octavia, these are now up for grabs. Set of Michelin Alpin A4 tyres - H rated (130MPH), 205/55/16's mounted to a set of 16" ET50 5x112 steel wheels. I bought these from MyTyres (at a cost of £520 + about 35 quid for the centre caps) in November and they did about 5000 miles on my car maximum. Pictures below. Come supplied with VW Caddy Van centre caps (which I thought looked a bit more fun than full size hub caps). As you can see MOUNTAINS of tread left. These were excellent in the snow and I never got stuck at any point. Will fit many other models of VW and Audi but I really am not sure which. Looking for £350 collected only. Alternatively can bring to the AGM next week, or to Stanford Hall. Or collection welcome from Warwickshire. Thanks.

Elsecar Mega Meet + Rallye Golf Show 2013
Jim replied to macvwnut's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
It was absolutely baltic, Vorn! Couldn't wait to get back in the car and go home!! :) Great weekend though and nice to see the usual faces and have an enjoyable curry - sorry for being the plague bearer and hope none of you lot get my lurgy! -
I think there are some decent improvements under the hood on Windows 8 but that Start Screen and a lot of things that are hooked into it, are a total mess. The lack of consistency in the UI, the split locations for configuring things (control panel or the 'charms bar', etc) drive me up the wall. Thing is Dave as you say there are 3rd party tools that can fix this but I don't want to really reward Microsoft with my custom for something I think they screwed up.. I'm trying to vote with my feet - if that makes sense. Anyway - sorry for taking this WAY off topic Fay!
-
Agreed - test drive both and find what you like. Then buy a VR6 ;)
-
I think think you might find a chromebook too restrictive like if there are any specific applications you need to run, band ordinarily I would say a MacBook is rather expensive for just a machine for web and email surfing.. But Windows 8 is so terrible its hard not to suggest trying a Mac laptop instead!
