One of the few Anime movies I've seen.. and I have to agree... it's sort of like 2001: A Space Odyssey in how it's really interesting most of the way through and then suddenly goes insane towards the end :)
-
Whilst I'm not particularly "hands on" with the Corrado, in all my years on here I've really never heard of the immobiliser actually failing in any way.. it's always, always been the rubbish connection issue and a clean has always fixed it. I don't want to get your hopes up of course.. but just saying :)

Aside from asking your local post office for CCTV or similar, I dont think you have a leg to stand on. Did you not ask for proof of posting when you sent them?
-
All I can suggest is you keep an eye out for a breaker :( The forum is as good a place as any, as is eBay.
-
Are you having the classic problem of the car starting and then the engine cutting out immediately? Are you certain that the immobiliser has actually *failed*, or whether it's just got the classic problem of the pickup for the chip in the key being at fault it just needing a clean? I'm being a little vague here but this has come up on the forum a thousand times but I can't for the life of me find a thread detailing exactly what you need to do to fix it.. I'll update it when I do. Alternatively I believe someone who's handy with VAG-COM (e.g. DG Autotech or Stealth) can defeat the built-in immobiliser so it's out of the equation all together. *edit* A hint at what's involved is here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?69281-VR6-wont-start-after-first-long-run-NOW-Fixed! *edit again* And Cazza's post about 4 down on this one: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?58371-VR6-Starting-Help :)

I know Mike Brewer lives pretty near to where I do (5-10 miles) - often thought of asking if he wanted to buy my VR to do up in an episode! -

whats the fuel consumption on a Corrado VR6 sports auto
Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in General Car Chat
No such thing as a 'sports' version of the VR6 :) -
Yeah the leads can look perfectly fine but degrade internally... I'm also wondering if there's been some water ingress into an electrical connector - you say you drove for hours yesterday in snow and rain... possible something's got in somewhere it's not wanted!
-
If it's misfiring or running on 3 cylinders I'd be suspicious of the HT leads or electrical system generally.. I'd get them checked / replaced.
-
Is it running on all four cylinders.. i.e. does the engine sound normal but just gutless? If the engine sounds normal, the only time I ran into something similar on my 2.0 16v was when I had a binding brake caliper.. the car was making all the right noises but felt like a 1.4 fiesta.. hopped out and touched the front wheels to find one was very hot and stank of brakes. I had my answer :)

There's a trailer up on YouTube that lists them... still no Corrado :( -
Here you go... not sure how up to date it is! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51185-Where-to-find-your-nearest-corrado

Now sold - thanks J :)

Welcome aboard. Seems to be a real deluge of newbies at the moment.. hoping this surge in interest will start to do something to improve their prices a bit as they're in the doldrums right now - certainly the right time to be buying one :) Having owned a few over the years the G60 certainly has it's charms and is a really nice piece of motoring history given that VW only really used that engine for a few years. Responds well to some light tuning (200BHP is easily achievable). Hope you find a good one as and when you get the money together.

Have replied to your PM mate - sorry, didn't see this post. Will confirm the part number is right this evening.

Welcome aboard :) Quite a few folks in the South Yorkshire sort of area... Here's the old buyers guide checklist --> http://wiki.the-corrado.net/the_corrado_buying_guide_checklist.html

Monthly Corrado Meet - Northampton - Tues 12th Feb

Bump :) -
Is it an early or late interior? And where are you based?
-
Ah yes - nice one... Notice the bonnet bulge is now a dip instead.. and the other most obvious feature is the fog lights / indicators - they sit way more recessed into the bumper and don't have the black plastic surround on them like the later ones. Also ensure when looking at any potential cars, to check the wings.. not uncommon for accident damage to be repaired by the unwary, using one later and one early wing as they mount up exactly the same.. but you'll notice your wheel might protrude out of the arch or be more tucked in on one side if the wrong wings have been used!
-
Here's a good up front shot of my old G60 which was the facelift exterior... notice the bump rather than dip in the middle of the bonnet.

I always think of the MK2 Scirocco as a bit of a mistake when you look at the MK1 and the MK3 / Corrado... you can see the lineage, and many similar styling quirks.. the Mk2 never really fitted in amongst them tbh!

Think so Steve! Great pair of cars! :)
