Interesting thread here on Vortex.. Not just bearings but significantly accelerated wear in other areas of the charger to consider. But sounds like it could be fun if you really don't care about longevity of your g-lader :) http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4464229-58mm-pulley-on-g-lader Also check out page 4.. Limitations on the head causing the engine to run lean and melt pistons. A lot to take into consideration.

Can't blame you at all. Regularly dream of 911 ownership and with 996's getting to very affordable its hard not to be lured in. I think they have the potential to ruin you with expensive faults so I would seriously consider finding approved used, or enthusiast owned examples.. And be sure to keep an emergency fund in case something terrible happens with it. I had the pleasure of driving a 997 Turbo last year and it was so clinical and effortlessly fast.. Seemed to lack real soul but just jaw dropping how it got up to speed :)

I think all Corrado owners go through this.. All I can say is, one or two standings through flat batteries does wonders for improving your memory :) -
Wonder what it'll go for...

Just to let you know that they were ALL Karmann interiors because the Corrado was built by Karmann :) Afraid to say it's not a special edition or anything like that. But seems a very fair price for a good condition late interior. VR6 owner bear in mind this has the 'bench' rear seats rather than the type with the rear arm rest!

Can you cut one off a breaker with a bit of spare cable and just join them together - properly solder the connections and then protect each one with heatshrink and then wrap over with loom tape.

Agreed with Baz.. really depends on other modifications, etc.

You need to get in touch with John Mitchell - username is 16VG60 - for G-Lader rebuilds :)

Good to see it's had a G-Werks rebuild on the charger :) Looks like a pretty nice honest example!

Very nice piece of work as always from Dave - the man is a legend! :)

Bargain for someone :)

Does it have any service history? Any sort of higher mileage maintenance work been done (e.g. timing chains / clutch)?

Which versions are these? (FK AK's, Highsport, etc..?)

I know nothing about aerodynamics but I'd presume that open wheel arches cause drag... so closing them off helps reduce it?

I use the forum as my barometer for parts pricing - there are quite regularly some hilarious prices coming up on eBay from breakers. Honestly I think they see that Corrado's are less common and immediately think it means they can multiply the price by 5x - clowns.

Obsolete. Except that it isn't.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=27169 I know electric / hybrid / eco cars often stir up divided opinions. What do you folks reckon? Personally.. I think it's awesome :)

Aha! :)

Interested to notice that the expansion tank cap is black - someone must have changed that at some point as it had the newer blue type on when I had it. Weird. Anyway - interesting to see that it was the headgasket after all. So glad to hear it's still soldiering on :)

Engine bay looks surprisingly grubby for a 55k car though.. really needs tarting up there!

Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the West Midlands?

Make sure you're sitting down when you approach him for a quote though. He may do excellent work but is f@cking expensive (I think he estimated about £4,500 to respray my VR6). Manhattan Motors in Coventry are supposed to be good - I know rsgtnx (I think is his username) had his Corrado resprayed there and was happy with the work. They're in my list of places to approach for a quote as and when I finally get around to getting some cash together to respray mine. -

Either Redline MT90 or Silkolene SynTran5 seem to get great reviews :)

Good to hear that this car is finally going to get restored to former glory - really not very many G60 Jets around at all so this is great news :) However interestingly there is a thread here by the former owner, Nigel, which contains several photo's - all of which seem to suggest it should have early style front end rather than late.
