  1. Anyone know the VW part number for it? Might be available direct from VW on classic parts?
  2. If anyone is seriously interested in this, I would be willing to go and view it as it's in Coventry apparently..
  3. Was very pleased with the economy of the VR on the trip up to Scotland. We took a steady run from Glasgow up into the highlands.. was a total of approximately 240 miles done on windy A roads at sensible speeds (60/70MPH with the occasional overtake) and we used about 27 litres. Works out about 35.5MPG. Who says the VR6 isn't economical! :)
  4. Dunno though Jay as it'll be more modern electronics behind all the fascias as presumably they're running much more modern engines and so forth despite the retro dash!
  5. Would be nice if those clocks could be made to work in a Corrado!
  6. It's fantastic to see a Campaign getting this level of restoration. Really great news that one has landed in the hands of such an enthusiast. Nice one James :)

    Colorado :D

Joking aside, if you're getting everything in the picture (cowling, column, stalks, wheel) then £20 is a bloody bargain!

    vr running issues

Good result :) Leads, MAF, coilpack and an ECU reset seem to be the gateway to VR6 happiness :)
  9. You've come to the right place :)
  10. And that's why you're going to absolutely have to forget about mileage and buy purely on condition! If any more cars come up that you want an opinion on, post them up. And if other folks are local enough I'm sure they'd go and view them for you.. I will if any come up in the Warwickshire area.
  11. You just missed one of the best in the country that went for a ridiculously cheap £3,000! I think we're all kicking ourselves for not buying it. I know I am. They always say you should buy cars of this age based on condition rather than anything else. Personally if I was looking to go and buy I wouldn't be looking for a Full Service History as such but would want to see reciepts and see what has been done. I'd take a wallet full of receipts and a patchy service schedule over a handful of receipts and a full service history! Don't let mileage put you off provided that high mileage work has been done (e.g. replacement of tired bushes, suspension, timing chains, etc etc). Make sure the bodywork is good.. if there's a bit of surface rust then that wouldn't concern me as it can just get sorted in a body shop. I'd also try and avoid buying a modified car aside from rudimentary stuff like aftermarket suspension or exhaust. Make sure you check all the electrics like the spoiler and sunroof. Check for damp carpets in front / back / boot.... beyond that I'd say it's down to looking for all the normal stuff you would when buying a car! :)
  12. Jesus - talk about bad luck! :| You've not had a good relationship with Corrado's and fire mate. Good luck sorting that out :(
  13. Hm - you're a bit far away then. There is a garage based down that way though, the name of who escapes me - Walesy is based in Cornwall and would remember the name. Think they know Corrado's pretty well! It most likely has the KR cam fitted but I don't believe this should affect the emissions - my 2.0 16v had the same cams and always went through the MOT emissions test without too much trouble! Good luck getting it sorted.. I really don't think you will need to replace the metering head though :) There are several on eBay if you do end up needing to go down that route though..
  14. I'm really surprised they simply suggested the metering head was faulty. I think the days of a garage doing proper setup work and tuning is long gone - and now it's "it's broken, replace it" attitude everywhere! :) Where are you based mate? The 9A is apparently a bit of a sod to set up properly, but I can highly recommend DG Autotech in Kidderminster as they know these engines well and can setup a 16v properly. You might find that the metering head is fine and just needs some other adjustment and I'm sure the screw in the metering head can be replaced no problems. There might also be other factors at work, such as the temperature sensor for the ECU not working properly and thus making the car run rich, or even the timing might be out a little bit. Most of those other jobs are cheap as chips so shouldn't be a bank buster getting the car back on the road!
  15. What exactly did they fail the car on mate, and why did they lead you to suggest that the metering head needed replacing? I've rarely ever heard of a faulty one on a 16v and usually it's something else causing the problems but a few places that aren't too good on old-school engines tend to blame them! Rear calipers are used on MK2 Golfs of the same era so should be plentiful in breakers or on eBay, etc. If you have the funds available it might be a good time to look into a set of MK4 Golf rear calipers though which you'll also need a set of conversion hoses for!
  16. This was definitely worth more. I don't understand why it was a slog to get it sold. Very strange.
  17. Will get in touch when I receive my working one and we can go from there.
  18. Ouch. That was a bad one! Looks like someone nudged the back end of his car :|
  19. It does work with the allen key still just fine. I think someone with some good skills in electronics could probably refurbish it. I've literally no idea on value however.. how does something like £6 posted sound?
  20. It was only a matter of time!
  21. Yes please mate. PayPal OK? PM me your info :)
  22. Hi folks.. following an unsuccessful attempt at repairing my existing sunroof motor I now need one! Anybody got one in good working order please? Needs to be for a late Corrado.. my existing one has the Rockwell logo on it. Cheers.
