key not not startingcar in hot weather...ignition switch?
Jim replied to dubweiser's topic in Engine Bay
Definitely an ignition switch on the way out. My old 16V started doing exactly the same thing as yours when it got to the summer months, a few years back and then literally weeks later it got really problematic. New ignition switch sorted it right out. -
for sale Red VR6 for 5000 USD in Hegins, PA

Worst. Advert. Ever. -
I replaced the bearing on mine - was nice and easy! You do have to cut the old bearing out of the pulley but once you've done that the new one pressed in easily using a vice and has been fine for over a year :)

National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands
Jim replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
So where were you Wendy... I took a steady jaunt back up the M40 expecting to see your Corrado come steaming past at some point (and was ready to give it some beans to see how the new car kept up with a VR) but it wasn't to be! :) -
Are you sure with those specs it's not as quick as a VR mate..?

Excellent day out! Was fantastic to see so many Corrado's and their owners and just thanking the stars that the weather behaved so we could all get up there! Kicking myself I didn't bring the Corrado now really but that's life! Thanks to the rest of the committee who actually did the work organising this, and thanks to all of you who actually came along :) And great to catch up with all the usual suspects and meet a few new folks :) -

The weather is so uncertain, we may not even be up on the banking anyway - it's really hard to tell. I'm well over my mileage allowance on the Corrado for insurance this year (thanks in no small part for drives to Germany AND Scotland in the last 10 months) so will have to bring the daily along :( -
Cheers Ian :) A friend of mine was poking around in the car earlier and opened a random compartment in the dash that had an iPod connector linked to the stereo in it (didn't know it was there!) and then I opened a panel in the boot and found a 6 CD changer! It's like the gift that keeps on giving! It seems really well put together and SOLID - the doors are REALLY heavy and shut with a reassuring thud.

Nice tip Jake - always like to know about companies who go the extra mile. Cheers.

I had this on my 2.0 16v and it got progressively worse... it transpired that one of my leads was utterly screwed and in fact when I pulled it from the block, the end actually fell off followed by a tonne of green corrosion... I was amazed it had worked at all, at any point. New set of leads sorted it out! But it could indeed be leaky injectors too, flooding one cylinder...

It could still be a wheel bearing? Are you sure you changed the right one? :)
-
Welcome aboard! That's a great looking Corrado :)

Get the cams and fitting done (£573.09) and you will already see an improvement in the way the car behaves. And then put the money away for a few months and then go back for the remap, which I am sure Vince would honour at the GB price? :)

Agreed. Fingers crossed the weather behaves! -
Picked it up this evening :) Crummy picture as it was getting dark by the time I got back. Very comfortable, very quiet, stuck the cruise control on for a steady 70MPH drive home and averaged about 36MPG which is right on the money. And I did have a few quick WOT moments to see how she went and was pretty alarmed at how easily it sailed up to the National Speed Limit. That engine is an absolute peach! Very happy :)

Ah bless her.. great to see it's going to stay on the road for now :) The only real "mods" it had were a drilled airbox, a K&N panel filter, and the KR cams. I never really spent any money on mods (well I swapped from a JE to a K&N panel filter), but lots on general maintenance.. so in the engine bay, the last few years it had new injectors, oil cooler, PAS pump, replaced all the inlet and cam cover gaskets, ISV, ignition leads & ignition reference sensor (£60 by itself!), genuine VAG radiator, a number of sensors and hoses replaced.. so plenty of TLC :)

Yeah - I'm not sure what's going on mate but I am unable to approve the post for some reason. I have tried repeatedly! I will report it to the admin and see if he can work it out..

Not sure what prices you were expecting chaps but I think this is a pretty competetive package that's been put together between Vince & Schimmel! :|
