Swap for a G60? Hahaha! Just buy a bike and only use the VR when it's ****ing it down!

Bit of change for the fleet again. About 10 months ago I bought a Fiat 500. It's been a fun, reliable, cheap little car but I have to say I got bored of it pretty quick. I thought I would at least see it out of it's warranty period but after 10 months it had to go. Also because I was fed up of the abuse I took off friends at work!! :) Have gone for something rather different - just went to put the deposit down and sign the paperwork today. It's a Skoda Octavia VRS Estate (I love estate cars! The old man coming through again!) with the 2.0 TFSI engine. It's a 2006, and done 54k. I got it from a main dealer so have got it backed with 1 years warranty and an additional year which is good peace of mind. Everything I've read about these is glowing and I know the engine is a peach. Strangely I knew it was going to be "the" car when I went to see it earlier today. The salesman had the same name as me (!!), and then upon approaching the dealership, I saw a sign saying "Welcome to Derby - Twinned with Osnabruck!" - and as I was in the Corrado I couldn't believe the coincidence. Anyway - picking it up next Thursday. Will stick some pictures up when I get it :)

Bloody hell!! No kidding. I'd understand if it had like 30,000 miles or something. Good luck to him but I don't think he has a chance at that price.

'Rebuilding' a driver's seat with parts from a passenger seat
Jim replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Interior
Look forward to having a read of this when you post the info up Kev! :) -
Welcome aboard :) Looks nice from the picture.. Corrado's do look great when they're quite low at the front.. gives them real road presence :) Just about every single problem that can happen with these cars has been talked about on here so the search will remain your friend. But look forward to seeing this car develop over time!

I admit I only had a day driving a VR6 turbo so not exactly an authority but was surprised at how usable it was despite the horror stories of "front wheel drive only being good for 250BHP" and all that guff. I drove one on a fairly wet day and predictably if you were too heavy with the right foot it would immediately break traction. But if you were sympathetic in the first few gears you could make good progress then obviously in third and beyond it was absolutely devastating. Enjoy - I'm not in the slightest bit jealous. Honest. :)

You need to get a bike and get training really as that's a fair distance. £150 isn't much.. but buying second hand is definitely a good idea and will help you get some decent for a bit less. I'd check out the Classifieds section of bikeradar.com - I sold two road bikes there over the years whilst on my way up to the nice one I own now and always had to sell at at least 50% less what they cost despite them having seen much action and being in mint condition - no reason why you shouldn't find similar deals. I'd suggest you up your budget to about £250-£300 and you should find a decent, pre-owned bike. Something well known like a Specialised Allez or a Trek 1.2 or something would be a good starting point! :)

Hopefully the national day would be a convenient time to do some pass redistribution too?

Have heard nothing but good things about Avengers Assemble - really must get and see it!

Well then it sounds like there may be a leak in the expansion tank or the cap. I'd possibly replace the cap, and if not that the expansion tank..
-
So are you saying you actually get steam coming out of the expansion tank, or does the coolant just disappear after you've done a few miles?
-
What colour is your expansion tank cap - blue or black?
-
The one I am hoping we will eventually get :|

Stuck a second hand sunroof motor on and now it tilts AND slides like it's supposed to for the first time since I've owned it - just in time for the summer too :) Schweet :)

They're £1,250 with H&R adaptors to fit them to 5x100 fitment..
-
A set of genuine LM's that fit a Corrado in 17" are going to be quite expensive as they're not too common, just in case you didn't know. Are you after real / original ones, or replicas?
-
If we can get a list of folks together who can make it I'm happy to post my pass directly to them.

I'm out too :( I'm being the driver for some friends completing the 3 Peaks Challenge that weekend. Ho hum.

Great idea and great price on booking the workshop for a whole weekend for a group. Good luck with your venture!

Anyone see Trigger on 'The Apprentice' last night???
Jim replied to Walesy's topic in Off-topic Chat
Good spot! I haven't watched any of this years apprentice. Picked him up at the train station and took him to Stealth the time he got his OBD-2 conversion done there. He always seemed a really nice guy.
