  1. Ok.. what version of Windows are you on? Also, another test I'd like you to do... at the command prompt again can you type: tracert http://www.edition38.com You should show a number of hops but ultimately (after 10 or so) end at http://www.edition38.com .... should look like the attached!
  2. Ok mate... now could you try at the command prompt again, type: NSLOOKUP Hit enter. Should be taken to a prompt ">" Then type server 8.8.8.8 and hit enter. Then at the > prompt just type http://www.edition38.com and hit enter. It should then give you back the IP address for the server... if that does it then I can take you a through a step which should get you back onto the site.
  3. If it's original as it sounds, it'd be worth your time keeping it as is. There are so few really good, unmolested 16v's left on the road.. they're sure to be valuable in the future!
  4. Out of curiosity Karl, can you open a Command Prompt and do: nslookup http://www.edition38.com and post the result...
  5. Mate - please make a proper classified for this (seeing as you're selling whats left of the car, whole) and set a price for it. Thanks.

    ...........

You could start off with a cheaper and more immediate solution I guess.. those great big discloc or crooklock things are supposed to be fairly good and whilst the goons might start swinging off the column and bend it / damage it, a new one isn't too expensive off a breaker!
  7. Best thing to do is look for a good set on a breaker / donor car and get them cleaned up and powder coated!
  8. Bloody hell.. you're not kidding...! Get it insured ASAP! :)
  9. I'm all for uniformity in number plates, to make ANPR work properly. I want as much chance as possible to catch people who drive off without paying for fuel, drive without tax / insurance, and most importantly steal our cars. Yes, it does stink of the nanny state, but there are many reasons why I'm all for it.
  10. I bet it's not uncommon across other forums, for several reasons. Car people seem to like watches.. it's just one of those things. That and I think once a community grows to a certain size, you'll always get a subset of people in there with commonality in their interests.. like I think we had a bike / cyclists thread and that grew to a few pages too :) But also for guys, in terms of "expressing yourself" women have various items of jewellery or nice shoes or bags and so forth.. guys don't really have much in the same way, but watches is one way you can say a lot about yourself. That and I think it's kind of fun you can be walking round wearing a watch worth up to something like £4,000 and the average joe wouldn't have a clue... :)
  11. I'm gonna go with the classic Idle Stabilisation Valve.. I'd try cleaning your one, or replacing it with another (normally a few on eBay, VR6 ones work as a replacement also - new ones are prohibitively expensive) and see if that helps. Bouncing revs is something I experienced with mine when the ISV was faulty!

That is utter BS mate - I'm so sorry for you. Must be heart breaking :( I hope you manage to get it back on the road somehow.. :|
  13. Perfect stance! I'm not a big fan of 301's (or similar) but that does look really quite spectacular..
  14. DBP on clean speedlines... absolutely lovely :)
  15. lol! Makes the VW price of around £37 seem like a bargain, but the Euro Car Parts ContiTech is identical to the VAG one (minus the VW logo) and half the price again... approx £18.
  16. Um.. given how new that 5 cylinder unit is, and how few cars it's been fitted to, and how bloody expensive one would be.. I can't exactly see that we'd have got to the point where there was a sticky thread about fitting them into Corrado's!! :)
  17. Hopefully we can bump this a few more times to fill in the missing few quid to get us up to the £125 or £150 mark!
  18. Hi mate - thanks for organising this. Just sent my tenner through via bank transfer. I'm same bank as you, so you should have it already!
  19. It's just utterly timeless and just has so much pedigree. And just one of those great understated watches that only watch "enthusiasts" will recognise. It just has it all. And £700 is crazy!! Bet you're kicking yourself now! :) My friend bought one last year for £2,200 and they're now up to £2,800. Realistically with those prices I think I can only contemplate a pre-owned example!
  20. Have had an interest in watches bubbling along for quite a while now but only really getting to a point where I want to do something about it now! Currently have some pretty generic stuff, and on the subject of vintage stuff I have a nice old (and pretty immaculate) Waltham pocket watch that I believe is pre 1900's though really not sure! Just pulled the trigger on one of these, which I should be getting in February.. Mondaine Retro Automatic. Am going to be working my way up to an Omega Speedmaster, my absolute all time favourite watch ever hopefully sometime this year. Just trying to decide between getting paintwork done on the Corrado, or one of those!! :|
  21. Got my parts OK, Neil. Thanks very much for organising this... better get my backside into the garage and have a go at swapping this radiator flange now then!! :) :) Cheers dude.

    200k+ corrado?!

At the end of the day, if the engine is sweet and the bodywork is rot free then I say go for it. Mileage does not need to be a barrier if the car has been looked after!
