    Sakers' 92 G60

Excellent work :) Nice to see a G60 getting a bit of TLC - you really don't see many of them around these days :(
  2. Insignificant little bit of tinkering today but... two small jobs done. First was the trim around the inside of the window inside the boot, had cracked on one side. I bought a complete replacement set years ago but always forgot about replacing it, so finally replaced the cracked piece today. Then in the engine bay, for some reason when my engine was rebuilt all the correct bolts for holding the HT lead guides in place had been replaced with new stainless items. I'd previously bought a complete set of replacements some months ago, so dug those out and replaced them all - so that's all looking spiffy and correct now! :)

No damage done from the dust at all? Good news if so :)
  4. Already owned 2x 2.0 16v's... no real desire to own another one to be honest :)
  5. Timing chains are something you'll have to do once, if you're unlucky, in the lifetime you own a VR6 - they're really not a big deal.
  6. I don't think you can attach pictures into PM's.. certainly I can't see a way to do it either. Best thing is to just upload to a free hosting service like imgur.com and link back to it in your PM to be honest :)

Certainly worth bringing it up with the council. If they expect there to be plumes of dust from building work, they should exclude parking in that area.
  8. It's your lucky day.. I've sent you a PM! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?95744-For-sale-G60-supercharger-rebiuild-2000-km-ago&p=1119252#post1119252

Gutted for you Wendy - this is horrid news indeed. I think a good soak with water (leave it out in rain even) then a coating with a snow foam lance might be a good place to start to help lift some of that crap off. Worry is what has that brick dust done to the clear coat... hopefully nothing but worrying all the same. You could certainly do a hosing with snow foam and not rub it in.... just cover then wash off. Then evaluate what's left and attempt washing normally..

    VR6 Rattle

Well the tensioner bolt is oil fed / pressurised by the oil system... so I suppose in theory it could suffer from lack of oil in the same way that a tappet could and take some time to fully re-fill... or may need bleeding? But it just seems unlikely. It just doesn't sound like noisy chains to me. People say they're more like a scratchy / marbles clicking sort of noise which this definitely isn't.

    VR6 Rattle

It's pretty hard to say, but I'm going to say I reckon it's just one of your tappets stuck... the car has been sat for some time as you say. I'd be really surprised if it's a tensioner issue and doesn't sound like the normal noise of timing chains at all.
  14. Weird. Will have to look into that..

    L345uge

Showing as having a current MOT and is insured - so at least it's still on the road. Hope you find it! :)
  16. Not sure if th 2.0 16v suffers from that classic VR6 in-key immobiliser problem. Was that system fitted to models other than the VR?
  17. Amazing how many people consider dropping 7k on a car then have a change of circumstances a day later. Are people really that bad at managing their money?
  18. Stupid money, but these guys claim to have one in stock John: http://www.stevensvwspares.com/vw-golf-engines/ht-lead-spark-plug-removal-tool-021-012-213 Same people, on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK3-HT-LEAD-SPARK-PLUG-REMOVAL-TOOL-021-012-213-021-012-213-/371045291865 Having seen that price think I'll unclip mine from the bonnet stay and put it away!! Cheers.
  19. Well, I'm glad for you - but understand. Hope it's gone to a good home mate.
  20. Welcome. Look forward to hearing more about the car, seeing some pictures, etc!
  21. I hope your garage didn't charge you a lot of money for doing a cambelt on your VR6! The VR6 has a timing chain, not a timing belt. If this is something you've recently paid for, I'd be making some phone calls.
  22. Ok.. then I reckon the best thing to do is throw the net over to German eBay... something like this: http://www.ebay.de/itm/g60-LADER-gebraucht-golf-gti-corrado-passat-g60-syncro-g-lader-g-lader-/162207195475?hash=item25c44d6153:g:ErYAAOxyF0pTikJY Looks pretty good. Get it shipped here, and get it sent straight for an inspection / rebuild with someone like JMR - then you know you should be in good shape.
  23. What a nightmare :( That bahnbrenner is pricey but... looks to be a drop in solution so may really be the only way to go. Footnote mentions it's a fair bit louder than the standard G-lader.. I've heard some horrendous videos of aftermarket chargers on G60's which sound like police sirens... would hope it wasn't anything like as loud as them!
  24. Pretty sure the 2.0 8v has electronic fuel injection, and therefore won't use the metering head arrangement as used on the KR and 9A engines unfortunately.
