  1. Welcome back Rog - good to see another enthusiast coming back :)
  2. Think that's karma - after all the woes with your VR, you certainly didn't deserve your daily blowing up as well!
  3. That's a cheap price - I can't see it hanging around for long.
  4. Not to my knowledge, John. I'm thinking I might head up there for the Sunday myself.
  5. In my experience, not that often - I've never had to replace one and I've owned a few Corrado's!
  6. Does the fan work if you bridge the pins on the radiator fan switch connector, at the bottom of the radiator? If it does come on, that will basically highlight that temperature sensor in the radiator as being at fault.
  7. No progress at all. Sucks :( I guess it gives you time to save up for the potential bills though.
  8. I have made brake pipes using a similar tool before, and whilst it's definitely more in the realm of amateur level and not workshop grade, it certainly does the job. Can't fathom what's happened with the sizing though - have you tried clamping it in the next smallest hole or is that miles off?
  9. I've owned Corrado's now pretty much solid for 15 years.. and I still glance into the rear view mirror to see the spoiler most times as I go past 55. It's crazy.

    VR6 engine noise

Been through several sets of cams.. doesn't seem to matter :( Would love to know if new OE cams are available from VW though. *edit* Listed at £240/each from VW.. wonder if they're actually still available and actually still that price :)

    VR6 engine noise

There must be some core reason why it happens. I've been through just about everything on my car, and am now a mere 750 miles into a completely rebuilt engine by Stealth racing including rebored block and new oversized Mahle pistons and even a replacement head... and piston slap is back first time you fire it up for a couple of minutes, and the valve train ticks as badly as it ever has especially between 2000-3000RPM. It's gone back for them to have a look at, but I'm trying to come to terms with it just being a VR6 trait. As infuriating as it is. I do think that there is some silver bullet answer / solution to it.. it must relate to oil pressure or something but.. I just don't know.
  13. Have to try make it along to this :) Not been to Santa Pod for years!
  14. Not sure about these Land Rover clips. I have a bag of them here and comparing them to the clip on the reproduction cables they do seem a lot smaller. Hmmmm.... Be interesting to hear how you get on fitting it.
  15. So popped back to the lock-up and re-visited the bonnet cable. Ordered some heavy duty bowden cable sheathing on eBay and made up a nice new replacement for the 'middle' bit of the cable that sits across the radiator. Looks spot on. Also raised the height of the coilovers a bit (too damn low) and adjusted the camber on the front wheels - sitting, and riding much better this evening! Off to Stealth tomorrow morning, as it's 750'ish miles since the rebuild so ready for a second oil change and a new filter.

Popped over this evening and sorted out the ride height a bit, and also had a go at correcting the camber using a highly scientific implement - a spirit level on my mobile phone :) Much happier with the ride height now and the camber actually seems pretty damn good and fairly even each side.. will try grab a picture tomorrow as I'm taking it over to Stealth for second post-rebuild oil change.
  17. Are you going to get the carbon roof from LWS too? What's the plan for the paint - paint the body, leave the carbon 'naked' - or paint over all of it?
  18. Holy moly :) I don't think I've ever seen a chemical stripped Corrado shell either - looks like it's just been pressed / welded at the factory! Amazing. Well you guys already have one incredible project Corrado under your belts - I can't wait to see this build.

Not yet Ray. Been busy for much of the week and just not had the energy to spend the hours faffing with the car. If the weather behaves this evening I may go over there and have a tinker.

    Ignition Switch

Should be fine as long as your VR isn't late enough to have the built in immobiliser. There's a slip ring that goes around the key hole which will be looking for the presence of the key....
  21. Gotta recoup what it's going to cost them for the emissions scandal somehow!
  22. Nightmare. Working on these old cars sometimes can be really, really testing. Some good ideas in this thread if you haven't seen it already: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?14599-Wishbones-what-the-hell-do-I-do-now
  23. Would love to have a 2.0 TFSI engine in a Corrado with about 250BHP. That engine is a real peach and would give a Corrado a perfect level of performance and driveability!
