Will there be no issues with the sheer length of ducting that the air will have to take to get round to the intake port on the inlet manifold? Assuming you have to run it round the original route and then into some sort of 180 degree bend I wonder if you'll get any strange resonance or other sounds under acceleration!

Spoiler motor not been wired into the alarm full closure system somehow has it?!

[Event] Stealth Racing RR Day - November 27th, 2011 -- PAYMENT

I'll be getting in touch to sort out payment for this in a week or so folks :) -
Kev - have you looked into other same era VW's to check out different airbox configurations for inspiration? Is the objective to keep the air cleaner box in the factory location, or would you use the original box in an alternate location..?

I admire the engineering for VTEC (and the amount of horse power that can be extracted from such low engine capacity) but I've never really had much love for high revving engine screaming unless it's a V12 or something - I much prefer the noises made by 6/8/10 cylinders on the way up to the top end of the revs, especially a bit of low end induction roar... rather than the very top end! And that's not just being snobby about 4 cylinders.. but I just don't like the noise! :)

Anyway - sorry to pollute your thread with discussion about my car mate! Looking forward to seeing yours when it's done.. be sure to get some pictures up :)

Well he reckoned under a grand which would ordinarily worry me, if I hadn't seen what a good job he did with Eric's car... and besides, even if it's only a reasonable job then I can just get it done a few years down the line. Whatever I get will look a lot better than how it is now :(
-
Brilliant. I'm so pleased it's all coming together for you so well - just shows if you put all the time in beforehand with the research, etc then it pays off! As the old saying goes Proper Planning Prevents P!ss Poor Performance!! :)

Pretty much everything apart from the roof... it's fair to say it needs it pretty badly! It's the same for me really seeing so many clean cars and then looking at the damage, the rust, etc on mine... taking it to the bodyshop that sorted out Eric's MK1 Scirocco after a recent incident - he seems to be really enthusiastic, good, and very well priced :)
-
That's a very good price it seems mate - looking forward to seeing some pics! Hoping to get my old girl in for a fair bit of paint over the winter months so I'm sure we'll both be eager to get to some shows come spring 2012! :)
-
LOL.. not even remotely interested mate :)

Given that he lives in the Isle of Man and you're insisting on collection only - then I'd say he probably isn't your ideal customer ;)

Depends on the year of Corrado - they didn't all have ABS!
-
Doh! How did they overlook that!! Still sounds like a good bunch turning it around so quickly, etc...

Blah blah ;) -
The little spark plug test is excellent... am I just being stupid, or does it have that offbeat VR6 sort of sound to it just from the sound of the sparking?! :)

Yep... The Corrado Club has been allocated a slightly miserly 3 car stand. There will be lots of people from the forum and the club there though this year as it's popular event for us! -

I'm afraid I don't know actual clearance required.. in my experience it's only ever been the lowest of G60's which have had problems. Never seen a VR struggle to get rollered even if it's very low! Certainly if your car is on 16's / 17's you'll definitely have no problem.. -
Always confuses me when I see stuff I posted years back - I never remember writing it 99% of the time!

I believe the engines were shipped to them complete and ready to fit but Karmann pressed the metals and assembled the shells, the interior, and complete assembly of the cars! Contrary to what VW said at the time, most of the design and engineering work was done by Karmann too - NOT VW!
