  1. Might have to replace the fan relay then I guess... :( Also worth replacing the rad fan temperature switch the radiator - but I can't stress enough that you seek out a new, genuine VW item to replace it!

I can reccommend Redline MT90 - great product!
  3. You have got to laugh at the attitude of some of these breakers. That's bloody ridiculous!

Yep... check the circlip, oil change on the gearbox and get it adjusted by someone who knows how to set them up and it should be sweet again :)
  5. If you're willing to travel a bit further south, you won't go too far wrong with DG Autotech based just outside Kidderminster! Graham knows the VR6 engine inside out :)
  6. Yep.. no worries mate. Read an excellent guide on Vortex on how to do this that covers all the bases including hand priming it, etc...
  7. Got my second hand PAS pump through this morning. Looks to be in good shape. Slight play on the shaft if I push / pull it (as you described kev) but spins smoothly and silently and seems quite clean so I don't think it's that old, or has come off a car that's done many miles. Comes with a pulley already on it as well (bonus!) so I don't even need to remove my old pulley - should virtually be a bolt / unbolt job assuming everything comes off as it's supposed to. I might see if Eric fancies helping one evening next week :)
  8. There's hope for us after all. Thank god VW are starting to take classic parts semi-seriously. Apparently you can walk into any dealership in the USA or Germany and order directly from the classic parts catalogue.. VW UK need to get their **** together!
  9. I think it's legit Mark - I had heard this was the case, but knew nothing about the company or what they were offering.
  10. http://www.vw-classicparts.de/bestand/index_e.html Then click "Access without prior registration.." Then search for the P/N. Comes up at just under 7 euro's. But as I say, no idea how you order through them! Few folks on here have done though so worth asking around :)
  11. Jesus... getting depressing being a Corrado owner isn't it! :( I wonder if the classic parts lot have manufactured it..? Good news...! Just checked and they have the guide but not the guard! :) Not sure on the process for ordering from them as they're based in Germany.. but there are folks on here who have done it so might be worth having a hunt around.
  12. Stealers? I reckon that won't have been replaced very often so think they're likely to have some stocks of those still..
  13. Ah sorry.. I should have realised it'd come down to scene points. I prefer my Corrado as it was made by Karmann... not by Panini.
  14. WTF! Did they have the YT guy behind the wheel or something?!
  15. Autoglym stuff seems to have a lot of detractors... but Super Resin Polish is the nuts on Flash and Tornado red cars. Really brings the oxidisation out. You'll find it lasts a lot longer too if you seal it in with the Extra Gloss Protection product!
  16. Just make sure it's not on the "widowmaker" standard toolkit jack before you start doing any of this!!
  17. Welcome aboard! Where abouts in Norfolk are you? And yeah... some nice motors there! :)
  18. They'll go on forever.. provided the supercharger has been serviced! What sort of miles are you seeing on the cars you've been looking at?
  19. Have taken a gamble on a VR6 PAS pump on eBay. It's second hand but looks to be pretty new (i.e. silver, and not black with years of road film / oil) and looks to be supplied with the pulley as well - and was the exact same price as the amount of money I had in my PayPal account after selling some bits of tat. Worth a punt to at least test and then decide on whether or not to buy a brand new one.
  20. I just don't understand how you've managed to spend so much on the car John, and have nothing but bad luck with the thing! Similar to another discussion thread, it seems the people who have the most misery with the Corrado's are those who spend large amounts of money on trying to turn them into something they're not - it never goes to plan, they end up disillusioned, sell up and move on. I've no doubt the M5 would cost significantly less to keep on the road over that time - but then so would the Corrado if it'd just been left standard. If you get an M5 you're bound to want to change it.. and I reckon you'll be back in the same boat! And nothing about being an old man liking performance boats like the XJR... I'd LOVE something like that, or an M5! :)
  21. Just think how much a replacement bottom end for an E39 M5 would set you back... that always helps sober me up when my thoughts drift to such cars.
  22. Be interested to know what you do regarding the drive in / drive out conversion Tom and to know how much it'd cost.. engine in my valver is TIRED and a diesel daily driver would be the answer so I could start spending some time on the VR!
  23. That sort of **** really ****es me off :( Hope you can polish it out!
