Bearing came in the post today. I've just been to B&Q and bought a vice and M8 bolts. I've read all the guides. Time to get stuck in!
-
Old post I think. I believe it's available still. Just ring up a dealer and ask! :)
-
Sounds like a great example but I have to say that the bodykit needs to go! :)
-
Sensational! That's absolutely brilliant :)

My mate says.. "Load ETKA.. on the top right of the screen there are 3x sets of 6 icons. The first set, the bottom left icon is like a computer window with scrollbars and lines on it. Click that then on the menu that appears scroll down to Sprachauswahl and then select US English. Job done. " :)

Now if only I had a vice I could use.... as you can probably tell I'm not well equipped for mechanical work! I suppose I could pop into a local garage or something and get them to press in / press out..
-
I don't have access to a press for pushing the bearing in and out.. so any idea if you can buy the pulley with bearing in already from VW that I can just swap over on the tensioner?
-
A friend of mine just reinstalled it last night and needs to set the language... I'll ask him what he did this evening if you can't find your note Alex!

Don't know if it's the time of year or something but hopped out of the VR to notice a bit of a bearing whine this Sunday.. and again from cold this morning for a 20-30 seconds or so. Closer inspection showed that it seemed to be originating from the belt tensioner pulley so looks like I need to replace this bearing myself soon!

You need to explore the menu's a bit.. the option to switch from German to English is right there. Allegedly.

CCGB AGM 2011 - Gaydon Museum, 3/4/2011
Jim replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Apologies for being a no show folks. I've been to the last... 5, 6 AGM's but was determined to make a bit more of a go of seeing my folks this year now they live further away and given the day, I really had to go. Sorry :( I look forward to reading the minutes. -
That guy in Greece always has hilarious prices on his stuff... only a mug would pay that!
-
Will definitely keep an eye on this one - nice work so far Tom!
-
Might be worth giving Vince a call.. he's not on the forum too often! Too busy fitting VR6-Turbo's I believe! :)
-
The driver doesn't seem too worried about driving like a plum in heavy traffic, but the car is impressive none the less.
-
The Electric Rolls Royce is real by the way.. it was widely reported on a few months back!
-
I think the estimations of £2,500 are a bit unfair to be honest. Hard to say without seeing the car but the expensive jobs taken care of and a full respray has to be worth £3,500-£4,000 all day long. You only have to ask anyone who's gone out looking for a decent VR6 in recent months to know that there are a LOT of sheds out there so if the car is as honest and decent as you say it is, I think you've got a good chance of asking good money for it!

Second hand price for a set of kerbed BBS RX228 (17x7 1/2) ???
Jim replied to FenderSi's topic in Drivetrain
So you can get brand new originals with rubber for £800'ish, but a knackered set which need refurbishing will set you back £600 before you even put tyres on them? I'd just buy new ones personally! -
Totally driving beyond the limits of his ability and got what he deserved.
-
Go to the people that made the cars! :) Your local VW dealership! I believe a VR6 radiator is in the region of £200, but they're excellent quality and should last your car another 15 years as the original one most likely has. Where abouts in the UK are you?
-
Tempest on here has a left hand drive, US import G60 complete with air conditioning, cruise control and electric seatbelts :)
-
We're always gonna suggest that you buy the genuine VW item. They last years and years! And buy the time you've paid import duty to the UK, it's probably going to cost you more for the copy rather than the real mccoy!

Sam's guide is good but I'm not even sure where you're supposed to be cutting and splicing, etc. Can someone supply more pictures when they do this? Please? :(
-
Hm.. I'd really like to do this but haven't got the first clue on how to do wiring :(
-
Looked pretty spectacular but was pretty good in terms of what he hit, etc.. three pretty clear flips in mid air and a good landing - I'm sure he walked away from that!
