I'm not very good with electronics, ampages and voltages but.. is it not possible that the battery could make the effort to turn the car over several times but simply not be putting out enough power to actually start the car?

And whilst the Corrado is expensive for some things, we still have the luxury that the 16V engine is quite basic and parts are pretty common across the (old) VAG range so nice and cheap. Even things like brake discs, because they're so much smaller than on modern cars, are cheap. You get something sporty, new and modern.. and you run into some problems.. believe you me, the bills will be substantially worse.

Why have you started multiple threads? Please keep the griping in one thread. Thanks. And for what it's worth, a £500 bill for a load of engine work is pretty good. Wait till you start getting into modern cars, with sealed units that can't be swapped without swapping substantial parts of the car. A £500 bill would seem cheap... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?54946-what-the-f-k

Guess again... they most certainly are. But were a rare / uncommon option.

lol! Was gonna say - looks like it's been left in the sun for about 3 years!!

Do you find you only really suffer this in 1st gear? I get something similar with mine and have never been able to get to the bottom of it... pulling away from traffic lights or at a junction, the car just feels like it's running about 50HP! Even if you put your foot down it just feels gutless. Had all sorts of stuff changed on mine, had timing checked etc.. never been able to improve it!

All it seems to mean is that your IT people screen what sites people are visiting, and will act accordingly on people who are not using the internet for work related purposes.

insurance is up soon !how much have the prices gone up ?

Best quote I've had so far for the VR, with all mods declared and 10,000 miles per year is £495. You wouldn't think I'm 30, have 9 years no claims and live in a low risk area and have never made any claims or got any points :| -
You need to buy these stateside - UK cars are right hand drive and the wiper mechanism is reversed.. so our wipers won't work on your car!

Such an innocent little pile of parts for what is such a b*stard of a job! :)
-
Nicely done. Always makes me happy to see another Corrado being saved by an enthusiast, and not just being broken for bits!

Out of curiosity fla do you tend to notice this noise towards the left hand side of the block rather than the right where the chains are? Mine does exactly this.. I get a sort of ticking like noisy chains that comes in at almost exactly 2,000RPM and seems to vanish once you rev past 2,500RPM as you describe! Graham from DG reckons tappets - I don't doubt him for a second as he knows the VR inside out! But the fact you mention the noise at those specific revs has peaked my interest a bit...

Free download of a new single from Hybrid, who I'm rather partial too... can download it here: http://www.hybridsoundsystem.com/2011/03/15/blind-side-free-download/ Ever so good :)

Yandards' Blackberry VR6 - Making my garden shed look good
Jim replied to emu's topic in Members Gallery
Haha... top man Yan. To be honest your collection was looking incomplete without a VR6 anyway ;) -
Because I think coullstar starts to feel unwell unless he's selling wheels or cars at least once a week! Why you'd ever sell that VR-T is a complete mystery to me, though can fully appreciate the allure of a big, fast Audi.. lusted after such motors for a while myself!

Can't believe you're breaking that mate - surely that could be saved!! ;) Joking of course. Looks like that must have hurt badly. And do I spy Recaro's in there...?
-
That seems fine to me mate. Send me a PM with your payment info :)

Skinnyman - you still got the rear speakers? And if so, is it possible to also get the connectors that plug into them and a little bit of the cable from the loom too (so basically just cut the connectors off with 6 inch of cable on them each) ? Let me know a price posted for that lot :)

Got a set in my garage but never actually get around to putting them in the car when winter comes around. They're seriously heavy duty and reckon they'll last you forever! :)

There are some good Evo figures here.. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargrouptests/221925/renaultsport_megane_dci_175_v_ford_focus_st.html ---------- Post added at 01:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 PM ---------- Though controversially it does suggest the VR might either just scrape in front of or remain level pegged with the Focus..

There's just no way a modern 2.5T would be slower than a VR.. no matter what the Parkers stats say. The car would have to be significantly fatter / weightier to be slower. And like many cars, it's not the BHP that'd nail you.. it's be the torque and the spread of it too... very well illustrated when we had a little VR vs Scirocco race in Germany in 2008. I was driving a new Rocco with the 2.0 TFSI (200BHP'ish) against Dom's VR with schimmel cams in it, and when we both gunned it at about 90MPH I walked away from him like he was stood still. I'm with Kev.. The torquey motor and the much more modern chassis would make a VR look quite pathetic on the straights or in the twisties! It's always hard to admit it though... :(

Stayed with some friends in Belsize Park in London this weekend and was very pleased when we headed into the village for some dinner, to see a tidy standard looking Twilight Violet VR6 with the optional Le Mans alloy wheels, parked up on one of the roads near to them. Anyone here? Reg was M47 **P...
