  1. Bought and fitted one a few months back after finding mine has been in its death throes for some time. Bit cheaper than heritage - think it worked out about €61 (£45) shipped to the UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Made-in-Germany-Electric-water-pump-251-965-561-B-VW-Bosch-0392020024-039202008-/181867583631? Great seller too. Shipped quickly with tracking details. Definitely made a small improvement to my coolant temps.
  2. Lovely! Looks super clean!
  3. Yeah - sounds like CV grease from the sounds of things!

    Panjo

The thing is, it's like groundhog day. People complain when they have to make a list of stuff; and now people are unhappy when people aren't making a list. For every opinion on how things should be done, there is a contrary opinion on how it should be done. Panjo was implemented to try and make it a fair system as we had countless cases where someone would list an item for sale, and several people would offer to buy it at similar times - or someone had already PM'd the seller and concluded a deal, then someone replied to the thread and took umbridge when they found out the item had sold. Again, I think Panjo is (in principle) a good system. But folks just choose how and when to use it, or list an item for sale and never return and we end up with items being sold and the item never being updated. In terms of breaking threads - it's just difficult to enforce.

    Panjo

It's like so many things though.. It doesn't work because people don't use it properly, predominantly by not expiring or removing items they have sold. I admit I have not used it much but sold a couple of items on it a few months wil no hassle? Ultimately I have zero say on this however and am just defending it based on my experiences... It is up to Andi.
  6. Been meaning to ask about this for ages but kept forgetting. A conversation with a friend at lunch time jogged my memory. Ever since the rebuild work done on my engine, where I assume the gearbox came off and a new clutch was fitted (don't know for sure) I've found that in fourth gear in lower revs I can really feel like vibration / shaking coming up through the gearstick. If I hold it it's extremely noticeable. It doesn't appear to happen in any other gear. Any idea what the hell this is likely to be? I'll have to take the car out for a spin to remind myself exactly how it feels as it's been a while since I was last looking out for this so can't remember the exact revs, and the level of vibration experienced!
  7. Ah the usual snobbery creeps in. The Saxo VTR/VTS were great hot hatches to be honest. Punched well above their weight. French hot hatches have always been extremely good as we all know. The VTS was a legitimate rocket ship. Though not sure I'd want to crash one.
  8. Just wanted to check but.. I'm guessing these are 'late' style wings, rather than the early type?
  9. Not sure what's going on but a load of items have been expired in Panjo and been bumped up. You can see from the listing date over a year ago! I don't think this is available any more.
  10. Yeah - I think this might force a major U turn on the F1 deal to buy out Red Bull. Certainly be interesting to watch the fallout of this. South Korean officials are on about now testing a range of other VW vehicles, and of course vehicles from other manufacturers.. this might be an extremely widespread behaviour so the auto industry could be in for a massive pummelling.
  11. I've got a new type Fiesta ST and the chassis on that is superb. It's super chuckable and handles brilliantly, and then of course you get turbo power as you exit corners. I think it'd keep up with a lot of quicker cars :) Whenever I get in the Corrado, it feels like I'm steering the QE2 in comparison!

    Guy`s storm

It showed up for sale on here about a year ago, via eBay (?) I think - and looked as though the new owner bought it in 2008 or so, and simply put it away and never touched it. It looked identical, had identical spec / wheels, etc and didn't appear to have done any mileage either. Not sure what happened to it though after that! :(
  13. I've never understood people who abuse celebrities on Twitter, etc - it's a strange phenomenon really. And then especially when it goes onto be about his wife or daughter!! He seems to really get a load of it too. There's some really effed up people out there :(
  14. I don't really agree to be honest but we're both entitled to our points of view I guess :) I think you could easily take any of the jobs they do on the cars to restore them for the show, and treat them in isolation. The fact they do them all on one car is just so that they can make a TV show out of it. I'm sure you, like me, have spent substantially more than £200 on the parts or tools to do any number of jobs on your Corrado.. how much is a new, decent suspension kit for example, plus the tools to do the swap? For people doing restoration work even on something as humble as the Corrado, £200 is frankly nothing. Part of it also showing you what CAN be achieved at home with a bit of practice and a bit of determination. They say it regularly, but if from watching them do a DIY repair on the show you're inspired to go out and work on your own car, then they've done what they set out to achieve - try and get more people enthusiastic about working on cars rather than getting put off because they're too complex or it costs too much to work on them. They also deliberately try and show new & different types of repairs as much as possible (watch out for VAG-COM in the Corrado episode!) which is why sometimes it gets more and more elaborate or specialist as I guess there's only so many 'brake pad' level type repairs that can be shown before it gets a bit samey :)
  15. Mike Brewer answers this question on a near daily basis on social media, and has done for years. I think they need to include a disclaimer at the start of the show. They don't include labour as the idea is that Edd is a home mechanic. Yes, admittedly with a large workshop and a set of ramps, and yes they do occasionally have some specialist bits and pieces that they use (e.g. Teraclean) but the idea is that a lot of the work you could quite conceivably do at home. Hence no labour charges. Some of the work I've seen people undertake on here (including full on, ground up restorations, engines out, etc etc)makes me comfortable with the premise of the show!
  16. Just had an email from one of the producers to confirm the date :) Woohoo.
  17. Sky. Though I think I'll be able to use their catchup service and watch on my laptop. Fingers crossed :)
  18. Typical. I'm away from home for a whole week when it's on.
  19. Pretty sure you can still get these from VW, Mic?
  20. Welcome :) They're easy enough to restore to an OE standard, but be prepared to have to wait or pay for certain pieces of trim (depending on how thorough you are) as whilst more mechanical type parts are widely available, trim and such pieces can be a mission. You also mention a timing belt. The VR6 doesn't have a timing belt - it has a timing chain system instead. Great news you may exclaim, as it won't need replacing like a timing belt.. but alas, that's not entirely the case. Timing chains themselves stretch over time, but more pertinently the chain tensioners are a known weak spot on the VR6 motor and can wear through and ultimately fail. It would be well worth either getting the chain tensioners inspected for wear, and maybe considering getting them done regardless given the age of the car (assuming there is no history to suggest it has been done). The bad news is it's a labour intensive job with the gearbox needing to come off so not especially cheap to get done :(
  21. Pretty sure that's him still.. the eBay user name seems familiar.
  22. Very cool. The number plate trim light alone would be worth it... they have a real knack for rusting!
  23. Well they're cheaper than OE ones now I think (assuming that is 800 quid for a pair?) and as Goldie says won't rot... So quite an attractive proposition. Think if I mine was going in for paint now given that both my wings are scabby I would be considering them.
