I follow the forums for a couple of pure electric cars, and they have had their share of problems but seems overall to be maturing pretty quickly. Have to remember that, for example, Honda's Insight has been out YEARS and Lexus have been doing Hybrid tech now for years.. so personally would have no concerns jumping in with a Hybrid or (my preference) pure electric :)

Glad to hear you are happy with the new acquisition. Running a Corrado as a reliable daily can test all of us. Last year was the straw that broke the camels back for me and I doubt now I will ever go back to using mine every day.. Will forever be a weekend car now. Hope you get back into a situation where you can afford another Corrado again as there was no doubting your enthusiasm for it and the desire to get things put 'right' rather than bodging them. All the best :)

We just need to get someone who can do some 3D modelling / scanning!!

Nice to see it back out on the road again David :)

OK chaps. I've registered on Shapeways and am doing a test print of these in two different types of black plastic as I thought it was worth exploring all avenues, so we'll see how they come out. They're due to arrive before the end of the month so I'll get em on my car ASAP. Total price for the two pairs was only $14 shipped so under a tenner for two pairs. So even we can either pursue this route, or look into our options with davidwort's mate but either way this next set we do will be a lot cheaper than the previous set :) Cheers.

Good news is that we (the CCGB I guess!) own the files and they're happy to send them to us in a useful format. Looks like we're in business :)
-
I've seen a few folks on here have pinstriped them so leaving little pinstripes of the original orange colour - always thought they looked amazing.
-
:) My only other concern is, if they don't release the 3D files to me, where we'd stand with reproducing the improvements they made to the original design. They were my ideas / suggestions but they executed the designs. If we then copied that into our reproduction of the trim piece, I wonder if we could be sued?! Hmm...
-
Indeed. I will drop the guy an email but I think really the business is as much that they hang onto the files and print them on demand rather than give away the files. I was charged virtually nothing for the design work that was done to be honest. I could find out if there would be a cost to release the original files as it may work out cheaper longer term for us to buy them, then print them elsewhere..

You should do a demo set Gregor81 and then start buying them up from breakers. They're always cheap as people rarely ever need to replace their rear lights. I reckon you could do a nice trade on them :)

The problem is the actual modelling part. The work to scan the pieces, and re-work them was done by the company that printed them. Going through Shapeways would be ideal but it would mean either re-doing the work, or getting the 3D files from the design company but I suspect they wouldn't hand them over. I would be willing to ask though.

May be worth going to absolute basics... pull each plug in turn, and verify they are actually sparking. Then do the same for the injectors. If you confirm you have fuel and spark, then look into things such as the ignition coil, timing, etc etc?
-
What's the history of the car.. any idea? Did you own it prior to it not wanting to start or have you acquired it as a non runner?
-
Have you confirmed you're getting fuel? Does it smell of fuel after repeating efforts to start the car?
-
Will keep my eyes peeled for you! Rare I use the Corrado at the moment due to it needing a bunch of work doing, and having no money but if you see someone flashing their lights at you in a red Fiesta ST then you know who it is :) I'm in the Earlsdon / Tile Hill area.
-
Are you based in Coventry now then? Where abouts? I live / work in Coventry too so will be looking out for you :)
-
I think I have your number - if we find ourselves at a loose end I will give you a shout. Again though, meeting up with random car mates might not go down too well so no promises :)
-
PM me your email address :)

You need the pink coloured one, so this one :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HAYNES-MANUAL-FOR-VOLKSWAGEN-PASSAT-1988-TO-1991-/381174769252?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58bfc96664 Cheers.

Deadlines help focus the mind. It's all good ;)

I arrive in Sirmione at the bottom of Garda on Sunday, Ron! Not sure my missus would be too keen on me buggering off to meet up with a Corrado Club friend but will keep an eye out for you all the same :)

I do have a feeling if someone has a full blown copy of SolidWorks they'd be able to import these EPRT files and export them in a more sensible format..
-
Hm looks like a good kit that. I was wanting to look into getting my callipers stripped and zinc plated as they are seriously scabby.. but I think that's going to be a difficult and expensive process.. maybe this sort of kit is the better option.
-
I don't unfortunately. The company owns them I think. I have a file they sent me which contains a copy of the drawing but is like a self contained executable, but no idea if you can extract the drawing file from it - I suspect you can't. Will try and find it.
