  1. We also felt the car was running with a bit of a misfire and found that spark plug number one seemed a bit wet with fuel compared to the others which might suggest it's that injector which is causing the hiccup. I think my plan of action should be to get my spare injectors sent off and get the tappets ordered - then tackle both. Maybe it's time to buy a Bentley manual and get stuck into some of this stuff myself.
  2. Thanks, Wendy. Some positive news indeed. I might either run some engine flush through it or just get them replaced. A set of new INA tappets (the best ones for a VR) are only £78 on eBay and had various offers to help fit free of charge :) When I have a bit of spare money I'll be looking into it.
  3. Nope. Sits in a garage for a couple of weeks at a time, sometimes longer.
  4. Had CrazyDave over today for a listen, and a spin in the car. Car started up fairly quiet (seems to be better when it's milder outside) and then after a short warm up the ticking was noticeable again once you started to build the revs. We agreed it sounded very top end, and not bottom end. Decided to take the car out for a bit of a blast to confirm she was running OK and we noticed when we came back the ticking had reduced somewhat - so it seems to be pointing to a noisy lifter / tappet. This makes me feel pretty good :) But annoying to be having to replace them again!! Time to find the best source of INA lifters.. Thanks for your help today Dave :)
  5. Might indicate an intermittent signal (bad wiring), the sensor itself (need to replace the expansion tank as it is molded into the plastic!) or could possibly even be the clocks themselves.. Hopefully not them though :)
  6. Yeah sorry about that limit. It is to stop automatic account creation 'bots' which would then flood the forum with spam posts. It is effective but confusing for new users sometimes :)
  7. 5 seconds on Pistonheads and I've found a full advert for the blackberry VR6 4WD turbo including a phone number... hope this helps. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/corrado/the-ultimate-vw-corrado-vr6-turbo-4wd------------------1994/3832068
  8. Apologies - I saw your message earlier but spotted it on my phone whilst out in town, and forgot to get back to you. I'm only human! I don't have phone numbers for the sellers of the cars you're interested in unfortunately - all the information in the advert is all there is. Have you tried sending them all Private Message?
  9. Always makes me so happy seeing another Corrado getting this sort of treatment :) Paint looks like glass! Lovely.
  10. Have you checked to make sure the cable is connected to the expansion tank? There is a coolant level sensor in there and if this isn't connected properly, the light will flash all the time.
  11. I'll PM you their postal address, and drop them a line to let them know you're onboard :) I'll enquire about covering the postage cost (cost me about £7 to ship my cable to them special delivery).
  12. Welcome back mate. Will try make it over at some point to come say hello and catch up :)
  13. That would be perfect. You know who it's for! I sent them my non-genuine lead and it won't work with VCDS lite so... They promise they will take good care of it. Will send you postal address later - they should be able to cover your postage costs too of course.
  14. Is there anyone that can help a friend with VAG-COM / VCDS down in the High Wycombe area? It’s for an early VR so the old 2x2 type connection. I sent down a VAG-COM cable I’ve had kicking around forever, but apparently it’s not playing ball.. though not sure if that’s down to VCDS being fussy, or the cable itself being suspect. I’ve never actually used it so I’ve no idea. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  15. Well looks like Trimsport are finally going to make these so not much point in running two projects. Disappointing having already put a reasonable amount of time into this, but... ho hum. **** it. Thread closed.
  16. Well, I guess that renders my project moot.
  17. There's a few folks with Corrado's up in the Glasgow area - hopefully someone can step forward to give you some help :)
  18. That might be interesting mate. Is it easy to hook up?
  19. Did you actually view this car prior to buying it dude?! The amount of problems you've had - I accept some are bad luck, but surely some of these issues you would have noticed during the viewing!
  20. Been soliciting opinion from a few folks now about the noise - some folks have said chains / tappets related, and someone else said piston slap and tappets. CrazyDave is kindly coming over on Sunday to have a listen and run a compression check so that'll be interesting.
  21. That's great information - it's really appreciated you finding out this information and posting it up. Will give it some thought if it's a route I want to pursue.
  22. Always (and for the last 3 years at least) 97RON or better. So generic super unleaded if I have no choice, otherwise Optimax / Tesco Momentum.
  23. Holy cow. An update. The prototyping company have been very busy with some major contracts, hence lack of updates all this time. Had a quick chat today and they're fairly confident they can reproduce the badge pretty closely. There were two options regarding the silver finish on the front of the badge - basically a painted aluminium finish, or actual metal plating. The metal plating option is going to make the badges prohibitively expensive (around £100 each!) whereas the painted finish would be £40-£50. I accept there is going to be a limited market for these, but interested to know if there is any appetite at that price assuming the reproduction is very close to the original? If not, I'll discontinue the work on these and we could look into some other trim pieces in the future and write these off as being too difficult / expensive to remake. Thanks.
