  1. They must have hust needed bedding in mate , how do they feel compared to the normal setup on a vr , iv been stuck on weather to go for the 288's or the 312 setup , the one thing that scares me is that if i ding a wheel i wont be able to fit a standard wheel back on , and id struggle to get another 16" speedline I think ill keep my eye out for the 288's im just worried they will fade to fast on a spirited drive , the alpha is nice mate shame you had to sell up , iv always fancied the gtv i think thats the model anyway , lovely cars but i like how the golf looks on the audi wheels

  3. Id try spraying the bolts with penetrating fluid for a week or so let it get right it there You can also try giving them a good smack with a hammer to kind of shock them a tad , that sounds pikey'ish but it does sometimes work , just hit them straight on the head of the bolt Are you using a ratchet and long bar or a long breaker bar ? A ratchet will flex slightly , use a breaker and slowly use all your force If your having problems trying to keep the socket on the bolt i suppose you could always use a jack to support it at the bolt so you can use both hands on the bar If all else fails heat and lots of it should shift them
  4. Haha well you are supposed to call them names arent you , are you going to the national day at castle combe mate , Changed the fuel filter yesterday and im guessing its never been changed !! Ever ! I was putting of changing it for ages as i knew i was going to get covered in petrol , and i did , glad its done though i could hardly blow through the old one and the last bits that came out of it was just grey gunk
  5. Leads , plugs , dizzy cap and rotor arm , also the cold start valvs are dodgy when they get older so could be chucking to much fuel in on full chat You can also advance and retard the car off the dizzy if someone has messed with it it could be out causing juddery'ness if thats a word lol
  6. A company called adrad do a hella one for around 105 delivered , sure its wat it cost me , fitted perfect and i havent had a drop of cooland lost since fitting it a couple a months ago , remember to check the top rad hose aswell , mine had a small crack in it and was leaking slightly from there , they tend to get brittle with old age
  7. 300 quid bump , could do with these gone will be on ebay soon
  8. Well iv not got any massive updates , iv fitted the decat wich is nice and loud so im happy with being a hooligan for a while until i get bored of it again loke i did the last one , Ill try get a vid posted up when i can work out youtube and find time to film it While i had the cat of i checked the condition of the lambda and found this , is it shagged or is it just the casing , i got an intermitten fault code on vag com but it passed emissions and thought may be it could be the maf As you can see it has a few cracks in it Iv still not had chance to look at centering the steering rack either as it seems to have been set to far to the left so is catching on the arch !!
  9. Cheers bud i see wat you mean thats an ok way of doing it a actually , i can see the logik there I never ordered one of those camber tools in the end infact i have t had chen e to look at it yet but thankfully it doesent seem to be harming the tyres and i only have to driv it on a weekend wich is good
  10. Yea it is , i do like both looks though bit can see why everyone always reverts to standard , i always try to keep my mods reversible wer i can , i changed my steering wheel not so long back but i just didnt like the fact that the cabin didnt feel standard with a new leather wheel in it , i think it lasted a week before i took it off
  11. Looking good mate , tjats the only thing that would put me off , having to go to all that extent to get back to standard , although it seems you are doing a top job of it all
  12. My mate should be riding the TT this year so long as his shoulders fixed after coming off at cadwell lol !! Not the greatest of starts for the tt having to recoup from an off but i think its sorted now . Pretty sure he'll be riding his triumph 1000 if he goes with it , and i hope he has been paying attention as he sometimes rides with guy martin lol only on push bike Massive respect for these blokes though its got to be one of the most mental races in the world ! One small mistake and you dont get any second chances Rip to the chaps that have been lost to it over the years !! Just text him its next year he is doing it not this year lol !! Close though
  13. No jim your correct iv just read a few things and its right i didnt think of that but yes the wheels change as you jack the car up so ideally , you need the strut bolts loose and the car supported and to jack the car up slightly until the camber is right and then nip the bolts up , or thats how i see it anyway ! Im not sure how you would fo it with all the weight on the car as you wouldnt be able to get at the strut bolts or move the camber
  14. Vw owner the only thing that would worry me about thhe method with a long olank would be that wood warps and if it had warped say 3mm in the middle that would send the end quit far out , but i see your method and how you did it I thought maybe that was to good to be true , shame really as it looks at first glance like a cracking idea and relatively simple as you could set it wheile the wheel is off David i get you now it was my mind making things to complicated , i think ill do it this way to set the camber equally but instead of doing it from the wheel can i use two very long wheel bolts through the hub with the wheel off set at the same amount of turns in and the put the level flat on to the bolts to see how far out i am , then with the wheel of i can adjust it to the right angle as im not to sure how id take a measurment with the wheel on an then adjust it with the wheel off
  15. Would one of these be ok to use for a diy'er This is the item number for ebay sorry i cant get a link on my phone 360662850441 I could set the camber with this and the once i have found out how to center the rack i can set the tracking using a method like david suggests I thought maybe use some thick sea fishing line and wrap it round to axle stands front and back of the car to set the track correctly if it has moved at all
  16. Cheers for the replies . I think it was more the rack that has been moved across to the passenger side to much that was causing the tyre to catch the arch , nothing was loose but i couldnt get it to a four wheel align over the bank holiday so had to push the camber in to make it clear otherwise i would have just kept on ripping the tyre up David im pretty clear on all those ways you have stated other than the wheel bolt bits , did you mean you took the wheel off and put two bolts in the wheel holes and ran a level off that to see how much the wheel was off Is it best to center the rack first ? And how would i know if its central are they both the same size either side ? To the track rod ? Is there any diagrams on how to set all this up , i think id understand it alot better if i could see it if you know what i mean
  17. I have an issue with the front suspension on my vr , after fitting the new coilovers and thinking all was well i had it four wheel aligned and all the dials on the computer screen came up greeen and was withing limits and the car ran straigh as an arrow A couple of days later and i found that full lock to the left was stiff and closer inspection shows the tyre catching the wheel arch on full lock Seems when you look from the front of the car the passenger side wheel was about 10 mm or there abouts poking out further than the drivers side so yesterday i took both wheels off and slackend the two bolts that secure the strut and pushed them both back the same amount and tightend the bolts back up Now obviousley there is camber and i need to know what tool to buy so i can measure the camber and i also need to know if i need to move the rack across as i think thats whats causing one wheel to be further over on one side The car still runs straight but the steering wheel has gone off to the left a bit , does it need putting on a four wheel align again Im absolulty skint at the mo with an upcoming holiday and tax and mot and an ill pet to pay vets for so cant really afford 90 quid for a proper four wheel align this month
  18. Cheers mate ill doue check them tomorrow then , but i have had it on a four wheel align machine and all the camber and toe and tracking came up green on the computer screen , im wondering weather the bolts that hold it are tight enough !! Although i did use a bar to nip them up so should easily be tight enough Ill check anyhow Iv got to get the decat lengthend yet and its proving a pain in the arse as no one has any 2 1/4 inch stainless pipe Im popping out tomorrow to try get it done and then i can fit it ! And yea it should be pretty brutal on full chat lol ---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:23 PM ---------- Cheers mate ill doue check them tomorrow then , but i have had it on a four wheel align machine and all the camber and toe and tracking came up green on the computer screen , im wondering weather the bolts that hold it are tight enough !! 19. Happy to say the old slag passed her mot again , needed a bulb and the horn wire fixing along with a steering rack boot and a ball joint wich im well happy about On a bad not though after having it four wheel aligned it seems something ist quite right with the front end , the passenger side wheel seems to be protruding the arch about 10 to 15 mm more then the drivers side , this has ended up cutting up the tyre of the edge a bit !! Can anyone shed some light on what this could be ? Im just waiting on the decat been extended aswell and then it will be a straight theough pipe from the manni to the back box lol Iv also given up with wheels and decided to sell the merc wheels and sort the 3.68 final drive for the box for some more responsiveness
  20. Wheels look good mate what hoses do you need for the 288 conversion ? Is it just standard hoses for a vr ? And im sure iv read you can upgrade the mc ? Cant quite remember what car from though
  21. Bump for these and ill reduce the price to 320 as i really want to do the gear box before the national day at castle combe
  22. I can see why he was ****ed off that you swang out in to the road to stop him overtaking , but ii can see your side aswell and he should never of been tailgating in the first place , A couple of weeks ago i was sat doing about 40 in a 30 zone that was quiet so already speeding and some knob was about an inch of my bumper in an astra waving his arms about , so i just slowed down to about 15 to 20 mph and just sat a tad closer to the middle line markers , funny thing is we was already speeding but because of his dickhead'ish driving we ended up going about 20 mph for a good few miles , even better was the fact he dearnt overtake me on a single lane like your mate wanted to lol If you got his reg i would probably report him to the coppers just for peace of mind that they have a record of him and if anything was to happen it would have been pre meditated , even though coppers are **** they will log it down Either that or next time ancher on throw your seat belt of and go chin him before he chins you
  23. Haha cheers mate didnt see that you had posted on here ideally i need cash for these to do the 3.68 box
