  1. I see that there are a number of us down south. Anyone interested in a meet up in Spring when the weather is a bit better? (I still need to get my G60 back on the road after last years supercharger incident).
  2. Sam, My spare is a Drivers Side. The glass is still intact but there is a crack running through it from top to bottom.
  3. Pristine Alloy Wheel Refurbishers in Woburn Sands (next to the train tracks) has a good reputation. Not used them myself.
  4. My daily driver is 322g/km. Happy the changes weren't applied retrospectively.
  5. I think we all agree they are great cars even with a boat anchor under the bonnet ;-) The G60 does appear to have a bad rep which I think is a little un-fair even after experiencing supercharge failure myself.
  6. Because the VR is a boat anchor? :-)
  7. The frequency of G60 maintenance is really dependent on use and pulley size. Going down from the std 78mm pulley runs the charger faster at all engine speeds from idle to the redline. 65mm takes the charger it to the limit at the engine redline so you have to be careful that you don't over rev on a regular basis. Most owners I know that run 65mm chargers tend to short shift taking full advantage of the torque. Bar the charger the G60 is ostensibly a 8V GTI lump so is failry bullet proof and a doddle to work on. I've owned a number of G60's and strangely the only charger that has failed on me was my bone stock VW charger with 25K miles on it. G60 vs VR6 is always going to be a touchy topic around here and I guess you can tell i'm firmly in the G60 /16v camp as I feel these engines suit the car. The sound of a G60 is also an aural delight. I'd try to get a drive in each to give you a better feel for which engine is best for you.
  8. I have a late fog with a cracked lens if that's any use to you. I will need to check which side it's from.
  9. Where did you check the spark; At the plugs or from the coil lead? The only reason I ask is I have had a couple of rotor arms fail on my G60 where the spark goes to earth through the distributor drive. One arm was brand new and had only covered 100 miles before it failed. Spark + fuel + correct timing usually results in the engine firing.
  10. Based on my experience of the BBK engine'd S4. - You need to use a high quality motor oil and there is 9.5L in the sump so an oil change is circa £100. They burn a-lot of oil esp if driven in town. The also leak oil (valve rocker gaskets are the main culprit). - The timing belt tensioners wear leading to a rattle at cold / warm start up. This is common. There are 4 chains & numerous tensioners. It's an engine out job to replace. Parts are around £1600 (from memory). - The variable cam timing gear can wear causing a timing error code. I don't recall if these can be replaced in situ. Replacement parts are expensive. - There are oil check valves in the v that tend to fail open allowing the oil to drain from the head to the sump. Not overly expensive fix but time consuming as the inlet manifold etc needs to be removed. These go along way to tame the start up rattle. - The flap mechanism in the variable inlet manifolds have a habit of seizing. - B6 / B7 brakes are cheap (circa £250 to do the discs / pads). RS are not. - The dual mass flywheel fails and is around £600 + clutch + labour. Look for a vibration around 2.5K when stationary in neutral. - The drive by wire throttle is not great which can make it a bit twitchy around town. That said it will pull from 20 mph in 6th. - The comfort control modules are under the passenger footwell carpet and it's not unusual for these it suffer water ingress. - The original Audi exhaust makes the V8 sound like a 1.8T so a Miltek is a must but it booms at motor way speeds. - The fuel economy is terrible. I manage a combined figure of low 20's high teens. ....and there's more
  11. I own a B6 S4 v8 and it's expensive to run. Drop me a PM if you want to know more. Make sure you enter into ownership with eyes wide open and make sure you're budget will stretch to the right car with contingency.
  12. I have these. The previous owner colour coded the needles green. They work and have 106K on.

    Items wanted

I can possibly help with the clips. I'll need to take a look in the garage later....
  14. These are the springs...
  15. I have a set of springs that came with a G60 I purchased. No idea what make or the drop. They are new (never been used). Free if you cover the postage.
  16. For the voice coil to rub on the pole piece either - The speaker has been subject to an impact and the magnet assembly has shifted in relation to the voice coil. Unless the magnet assembly is bolted to the speaker basket (i've never seen this on car speakers) there's not a lot you can do. - The speaker has been over driven and the voice coil has distorted; again not a-lot you can do. - The suspension has sagged due to age. Try turning the speaker through 180 degrees. This is an old trick used in vintage hi-fi. Are you sure that you are pushing squarely on the cone? Sideways pressure can result in the voice coil not travelling parallel to the pole piece.
  17. FK have confirmed that these are now NLA so i'm looking for a set. Please let me know what you have.
  18. The spring seats on my FK Konigsport coilovers have seized solid. I have mailed FK who are being slightly less than helpful stating the kit and spares are NLA. Does anyone know a source of these parts or better still does anyone have a set for sale?
  19. Jack, If you are close to Reading I have spare clocks you can try. The fact you have to hit the dash to get it functional points to an intermittent issue. The speed signal is Pin 7 and the Tach input is pin 10. If both are not working you may have lost the voltage regulator on the PCB or have a ground / power issue.
  20. I have a spare Instruction Manual. Any interest @ £10 inc P&P to UK mainland?
  21. Are you sure the multi-plug is seated correctly?
  22. Ok. I have a spare g60 engine / abs ecus so ill knock something up over the Christmas break.
  23. Whilst this is very true Jim there are preventative measures that can be taken so that your corrado is no less reliable than any 5 year old car. If the G60 I have just stripped for spares is anything to go by the issues are 2 fold; age and previous owners bodges. I've re-built my ABS / Engine ECU + relays and will start on the looms in the spring. Happy to build a quick how to guide; but only if there is sufficient interest?
  24. Pickup only from Reading. Front bumper in Pearl Green. It's the outer skin only. Rebar, grill, spoiler etc all removed. Has been cut for US side repeaters. It's a neat job but if you're not going to fit these you'll need to do something with the holes. Sorry but I can't post this item.
