  1. Similar problem here. Although mine's a lot worse when its cold, which leads me to think its the box. How about yours? Apparantly you can adjust the mechanism on top of the gearbox to compensate, but I've tried and couldn't get it right. Someone told me there's a special tool to do it.
  2. Its the Corrado's poor sealing. Water just gets in everywhere; round the doors, windows, sunroof, boot, even just by osmosis through the bodywork. It then condenses in a wonderful fashion on our windscreens. In fact I found a puddle in my passenger-rear footwell yesterday, what a lovely surprise at this time of year! I can't wait to take out the carpets and try and find the leak, its not like I haven't done that half-a-dozen times... :x
  3. This is awesome! That switch (along with the door handles) are one of the things I wince at everytime I use. I live in mortal fear of them breaking. At least I know there's good solutions to both of them now :)
  4. And remember, its not all about performance! Its the whole ensemble, including the looks people give you as you pass by, and the occasional thumbs-up from other v-dubbers :) Hope you enjoy it!
  5. Ah, useful info! I didn't know that. I really do learn something new everyday :) Was that the same for the Golf btw?
  6. I've got the vein-like cracking on one of my bolsters. I tried the Mclaren stuff, it smelt really bad, like rancid cat piss, and it required about 2-3 goings over. It cleaned it, but didn't solve the cracking. Then I tried the autoglym, which smells bad too, and while it cleaned well it still didn't get rid of the cracks. Boo-hoo.
  7. Really? Very interesting... I will have to reconsider my membership next time its up for renewal. But then the RAC don't cover the person do they, just the car..?
  8. I've done it, twice in fact. First time was fine, friend broke down in their Corsa and the AA guy I called out was really nice. Second time wasn't so great. I used my mum's card to call out a homestart on my old Fiesta, the AA guy was a grumpy barsteward and although he fixed my car gave me a lecture on why I shouldn't have used another person's membership. I tried to tell him that the person is covered, not the car, but he said it didn't apply to homestart. So I ran him over. Not really.
  9. Having left mine for about 3 weeks over xmas/new year I came back to find the windows steamed up in about 30 seconds of driving down the road. My Golf had terminal condensation problems, I never sorted it... Looks like the C will continue the tradition. One thing to remember: even though the carpets may not feel wet to the touch the sound-padding and footwell beneath may still be soaking. If in doubt lift the carpets to check.
  10. Top bit of photoshopping! :) Is it your profession by any chance?
  11. No way! The same thing happened to me last weekend, almost the same place. Though I didn't witness the retard who did it. Thankfully it was on the same door that its gone into get repaired today, so I just told them to fix it along with the other dent. Still didn't make me any less angry though. Sorry to hear about yours :(
  12. I have to go over about a dozen or so speed bumps on my way to work each day. At the end of last year I was experimenting with different ride heights on my coilovers, and I found that about 40mm was about best compromise. Looks about right on the speedline rims too. I guess it also depends on how nasty the speed bumps are in your area.
  13. Whatever you do don't let the fluid level drop too low in the master cylinder and introduce air into the system. I did, and it made me cry. It took me ages to get it all out. i don't think the abs was too happy about it. other than that its quite simple :)
  14. Woah, shiny 8) Love that colour, adds an extra seductive quality to the car :)
  15. Don't re-heat rice! Biggest cause of salmonella, or so I've heard... :?
  16. You need one of these, Jim. They also sell some matching slippers. 8)
  17. Looks amazing! How long did it take you to strip it down? And how did you get the side plastic mouldings off? I need to remove mine for some body work and I'd like to stick 'em back on afterwards, but I hear they bend and twist when you take them off... Any advice?
  18. Second gear is nasty when cold, sometimes mine won't even go in, I usually skip it and go straight to third. As Kev said, MT90 can be helpful. It won't solve the problem, but can go some way to relieving it.

Just don't put in supermarket fuel! I hear its crappy low-grade stuff. :?

    No heat

Do you have the slidey left-right heater controls? And are you sure the plastic cogs under the bottom of the dash are aligned ok? Sometimes they slip a few teeth which means the controls aren't moving the full range. At least thats the problem I had all the time with my golf. If you're not getting any hot air then it may well be a heater matrix problem.. I don't know how exactly to repair it, but i know its a bugger to get too, deep behind the dash somewhere. I think VW start with the heater matrix then build the rest of the car around it.
  21. Cool 8) Lowered on speedlines is my fave look, you got just the right height too. It reminds me, i should lower the rear of my car so it looks a little more like yours.
  22. I have to disagree! I like the name. What I can't stand is when people mispronounce it, and say "Corrada"... Now that sounds gay... :?
  23. Very nice lady driving a ice-grey/silver'ish coloured L-reg through newton abbot sat. afternoon. Flashed (my headlights) at you and you flashed back :)
  24. Still, best car of the year goes to the new Golf GTI! Another win for VW :)
  25. nice! 8) Just needs to be a lowered a little, and then it'd look perfect. :)
