Yup, the allen key-shaped adjustment is for taking up excess play in the rack, its quite sensitive, so only small turns. I've done it on my old MkII Driver, but not on my C, (which may be different because of power-steering). My old Golf eventually failed its MOT because of it, although it had some super-excessive play by the time it went in for a check. Had a recon fitted eventually. It could be play in the steering column though, not the rack, so check that... Does it feel sturdy at fast speeds? Does it wobbly and drift a bit?

Definitely get those carpets up and the sound-proofing out to dry, it can go this awful green moldy colour otherwise, and it smells soooooo bad :gag: The actual top layer of carpet can feel dry, but underneath it can be swimming. Do you park on a slope? I had a rear footwell flooding once, but it was because i parked on a slope and the water came in from the front wing, trickled back along the door edge and then into the rear footwell. Had me stumped for ages.
-
I had this myself, on the rear wheels, and I came up with a nice little trick: Jack the rear of the car up till the wheel is off the ground, then jam on the hand-brake as hard as you can. As you slowly lower the car back down the tyre will hit the tarmac and a slight twisting motion will be applied to the wheel, (normally you can hear your brakes 'creak' when you do this). If the hand-brake is on hard enough the twisting motion will simply break the corrosion. (Wouldn't work on the front wheels though...) Then apply some copper grease to stop it hapenning again.

changing brake fluid and bleeding complete system with ABS
kangaroo replied to jedi-knight83's topic in Suppliers Forum
I did this and introduced more airlocks into the system than i thought was imaginable. I then spent 3 days continually bleeding the system, getting a little more air out each time, till eventually it was all ok. I swore a lot during the period of time... Maybe I just did it wrong or something.. (it wouldn't be the first time). But if you're doing a simple brake-fluid replacement then just top up the reserviour with new fluid as you go along, it'll make things a whole lot easier. -
I can recommend the Toad Ai606, which is usually well priced and seems pretty rock-solid in operation. Best of all it comes with a life-time gaurantee. The basic alarm is about £300. I've got one in my C, but with the shock & tilt extras, and an additional interior 125dB siren. No problems with it so far.. (Oh, and just to add: its remote full-closure locking 8) )

Nope, I'm afraid I haven't, but I'll definitely find it and take a listen :) I do however have the Hefner album "Residue", which is really worth a listen, very mellow 8)
-
Oh! That Hefner remix is the best! Some seriously good off-beat drum-action, such a funky track 8)

How did you go about adjusting the servo? I had a nightmare bleeding my VR6, and it didn't make much difference either. Make sure you do the master cylinder nipple while your at it.
-
I got that in the car too! Not bad... More punky than I'd imagined, but its really grown on me. "Girls" has such a phat and groovy bassline, I love it :)
-
Haha! Dreamscape tapes! God that brings back memories... I've got several of those still lying around, but I'd never admit to it  :)

I went on a G-simulator out in Kennedy Space Centre earlier this year. It was a centrifugal simulator and claimed to pull up to 4G's. It was actually a rather unpleasant experience, but that could have been because I tried to look to one side rather than at the screen.. (really trippy effect, your vision twists in circles as you turn your head, made me feel sick :pukeright: ). At one point my cheeks were starting to ripple in a Roger Moore/Moonraker fashion. Not something I'd do again in a hurry.

Lose at least half-a-dozen screws in the process. Swear.

Here ya go, a couple of shots of my leather interior.
-
I have grey leather in mine, and at first was not convinced, but its grown on me and now I like it best. Its not as hot in the sun (though still gets a bit sweaty), and it doesn't get that shiny-worn look as much as black leather does, which makes it age better. It also doesn't show up bits of dirt and dandruff, especially when combined with a grey interior. I find all-black has a tendency to look continually dusty. But the best thing about it is that it offsets my black paintwork, so in your case maybe a contrasting colour would look better in a silver car, (therefore black might look cool  ) If I remember, I'll take a picture of my interior when I get back home.
-
Haha! But I'm a kangaroo, I naturally bounce :D  Glad they're on order now, I'm looking forward to getting them. Keep us updated on the progress, dinkus. Thanks 8)

Are there any benefits or disadvantages in removing it? Or is it totally redundant? You see if it doesn't make a difference I may just leave mine connected.
-
Nooo! That means there's only 4 left now...
-
I got a P-reg! :) Registered Nov. '96. Black with grey leather interior, no air-con though. Not sure about the 'shells left over' story, but I've definitely heard there are only around 5 P-reg's in the UK, and I believe one of them is also a Storm. (How unique would that be? A P-reg storm... cor...) I would buy his car for 8k, it sounds good.

Love the first photo (lowanglerear.jpg), it looks really neat 8)

Can I suggest you DON'T use City Link. They've stuffed up not just one, but two of my orders before. Plus they never actually knock on your door, they just post the "we missed you" card through. (Caught one of them doing it once, he had to go back to his van to get the parcel, the cheeky sod).
-
If 9000 were originally brought to the UK then my guestimate is that at least a third have either been written off, broken, or have fallen apart, maybe even up to half. So maybe around 5000 left? What do you think?
-
Mine's done 69,000 :) I wonder when the first big repair will be needed... :(
-
If you're going for leather I would suggest either grey or cream, its a little less hot than black.
-
I love that colour. And the wheels are ace. Nice! 8)

Rubber Seals need refurb - what to use?
kangaroo replied to Dancing Fish's topic in General Car Chat
I used AutoGlym vinyl and rubber care the other weekend, and its not bad. The rubber window seals were a lot trickier to do than the plastic trim though, and left the cloth black with rubbery gunk. Maybe the bumper care would be better? I've not tried it... Or lateral thinking, how about a tyre dessing? That's rubber after all.
