  1. Haha yeah we are going rather off-topic. Australia is one place I've always wanted to emigrate to... shame you have to be an Aussie citizen to fly for Qantas, and that takes 5 years I think of living there before you can become a citizen by naturalization
  2. Better now than if it had come to making a claim
  3. Ahhh no worries. I was gonna go the Forces route, had a date to start IOT as a pilot back in 2007, until they found out about my nut allergy :( The worst thing was, I'd passed OASC and the medical and not a hint of any issue at the time. So the civil route it was and now I've finished uni, looking to get 1-2 years experience in Flight Ops before going through the commercial training, so that I've got something to distinguish myself above all the other newly qualified pilots, when I start to interview for an F/O position. I wish it was good money for the kinds of jobs I've applied to so far... not even £20k (I think the average graduate starting salary is around £22k now) but then again, I would be right at the bottom of the ladder in the Ops department, for a job that isn't necessarily a graduate position I'm not bothered how big an airline I work for as my first job, (or even my first flying job), but I do ultimately want to work my way up into a bigger company and do the whole long-haul route before I'm too old to enjoy it all
  4. Doesn't sound great mate. I'd refuse to pay for that cover you had before it was cancelled, but I am assuming you've already paid it and they're just gonna refund what you didn't use. If there's any other issues with regards to your money, I'd definitely get in touch with the FSA. Did you have anything confirmed in writing about the mods, ie once they told you over the phone your mods were covered, did you ask for written proof to be emailed/posted, for your own records?
  5. Thanks for that Akinesis, I've just spent the last 5 minutes literally pissing myself with laughter. On a side note, what airline/amo do you work for, and do you know if there's any graduate jobs going for someone who's just got a degree in "Aviation Technology"

In that last pic, is that the bit that made its way through the head and into the cylinder?

I'd be tempted to just buy a complete VR6 engine... or if you can afford it... buy 2... then stick one straight in, a case of a simple swap... at least you'll have a running car... then with the 2nd engine, you can strip it down and rebuild it, replacing all the worn parts and gaskets, sandblast the block & gearbox, get it all painted up nice so it looks clean and newer etc Two 2nd-hand VR6 engines is probably no more than one reconditioned one... and then when your rebuilt one is in, you can sell on that other one for the same as you paid for it
  8. greasegriff Bought his Wavetrac LSD off him... paid on Tuesday evening, the diff arrived with me this morning, well packaged up. Top lad :D
  9. That's the longest bump I've ever seen
  10. Not a bad idea actually... one of my mates works opposite the factory as well, be an excuse to go
  11. I'll see what they say, I dont need an answer anytime soon, and infact could ask them myselves when I ring up with payment details. Just thought I'd put it in the thread incase there was anyone else who might want to do a similar thing
  12. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=95723
  13. I've got another question now too  Would it cost any less than £130 per wheel if they were not painted, ie just cast then primered? (I'm asking as I am not after a standard silver/grey/black/white etc, and know someone who can powdercoat them in the exact colour I want, for rather cheap/free)
  14. Insured it... £1389 for the basic policy, added some extra cover efforts to take it to just over £1435 Not bad for a 20 year old driving a modified 2.9 VR6
  15. Know-it-alls and one-uppers are the two most annoying kind of people... and there's no reasoning with them, they're always right and always better, even when they're not.
  16. This is what I want... once I've stripped the car for track and fast road use. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Motorspor ... 65/0/13844 For now I'll settle for a more OEM looking one
  17. I've just had a thought, if a few people were to want a colour between anthracite and that silver, would they be able to do that cheaper than they would otherwise?
  18. THIS I mean i really want a corrado shell dropped onto a gallardo for some reason  IF i had unlimited corrado funds as i like to call them that would be me right there lol. Ben u picked up the Vr yet? This coming Saturday :D
  19. Essentially, you could fit any engine into any car. The only real limiting factor is how deep your pockets are, as you will have to make lots of custom parts for uncommon conversions.
  20. Sounds a good spec, especially if there's lots more to come too It seems to me that there isn't much of a 1/4 time difference with nitrous though, 0.43 seconds, I'd have expected more
  21. I have heard it is also illegal to drive on the road wearing a helmet... as it hides the identity of the driver. It doesn't make sense though, as bikers have to wear a helmet by law, but then the law often doesn't make sense. The track cars I've been in usually have foam cabletied or ducktaped around the bars that go along at head height... similar to that outdoor pipe foam insulation, maybe it's exactly the same stuff lol As for MOT, there's no reason why it shouldn't pass as long as it is correctly fitted... On a slightly less relevant note, I've seen a photo online of an Impreza that had apparently been involved in a 160mph crash and rolled several times. You could only tell it was a scooby from the badge, it was pretty much the same shape as the roll cage, which had buckled in places and two of the welds had broken... but it did it's job, and obviously the cage took a lot of the crash energy causing it to break, but without that cage, the energy would have gone into the rest of the car and the occupants
  22. Good thread buddy, you got a full spec list of what's done to the car, with average 1/4 mile and 0-60 times etc?
  23. That silver looks darker than most OEM silver alloys, but I've got a feeling it might end up being the same colour. Grey doesn't look too bad though, might opt for that. Does anyone know if they're sprayed or powdercoated by Comp?
  24. Oh don't worry, I will be going... but given all the lovely things they sell, I'll need to have more than petrol money in my bank account
  25. I wish Demon Tweeks was closer... wanna try out all the wheels, see which I prefer
