  1. Interesting race, just finished watching it today as I was busy all yesterday. That crash in the pitlane could have been so much worse... I've seen it coming for a few seasons now, as all the cars rush into the pits everytime there's a safety car. The fact that it happened at the same time as the flying wheel may be coincidence, or it may be that the Renault lollipop man was distracted by that and released Kubica into Sutil's path. Either way, very lucky that not a single person was injured, as there could have been many injuries as a result. F1 is dangerous enough already, as the incident(s) above show... it doesn't need to be made anymore dangerous by people like Michael Schumacher forcing another car against the pitwall at the best part of 300 km/h... that was downright stupid and reckless. I'm not an FIA steward, but if I was, I'd seriously consider making an example out of him in order to stop anything like that happen again cos that could have been a really nasty accident. It's good to see Webber doing well, "not bad for a number 2 driver" He seems such a decent guy does Webber and he's had more than his fair share of bad luck and hard times. If it can't be a British driver to win the championship, then I'm rooting for the Aussie. Sebastian Vettel must think we were all born yesterday. He might not have thought he'd get punished, but as soon as he was told he was he was under investigation by the stewards he must have known exactly why. That is exactly why Brawn were so great early on last year, they interpreted the rules differently, exploited them slightly perhaps, but designed something the FIA deemed legal, whilst everyone else was complaining saying it wasn't fair and having to catch up. McLaren had the F-duct, which again was an interpretation of "no moving parts (other than the drivers knee)" but after the other teams played catch up and we saw Ferrari drivers going round corners one-handed with the other hand blocking that air hole the FIA banned them from next year. The year on the whole Red Bull have been more than one step ahead, and the others still aren't playing catch up. All credit to Adrian Newey and the rest of the design team.
  2. I find it rather ironic you mention Inception, unique and Matrix in the same sentance When watching Inception the first film I thought of was the Matrix  See I didn't but I see where you are coming from now though... I think Inception is far more phycological and the Matrix more sci-fi. It was more the metaphor... as they're waking up all connected to the briefcase thing... that immediately made me think of the Matrix and how they're connected to that via the plug in the back of thier heads
  3. Haha I'll tell him you said that. That's the legend that is Matthew Vikram Solly, founder of Team Solly y0! and co-founder of BodgeIt Motorsport
  4. I didn't know anyone with an oxy torch who was prepared to do that. (I did ask my old DT teacher if I might borrow a torch and canister, he politely told me that he'd rather keep his job) Far too late... I've spent a week getting the rest of the money sorted now  I'm so glad it was just one wheel, 4 hours of grinding was bad enough... my hands and arms are covered in little burns from the sparks, and I've got cuts literally all over my body, even areas that were covered like my feet and legs, from razor-sharp swarf
  5. Read below... Rounded bolt, not my doing though... Afraid so... already sold the other three though :) Basically, the garage rounded it, then denied it was them and said I had no proof (as I only noticed 2 weeks later and went back as soon as I realised). They said "anybody could have touched it and ****ed that up, won't have been us mate" Here's the more detailed post from my progress thread on the Corsa-C|UK forum
  6. Again, not a Corrado, yet, but here's what I did to my car today:

  8. I'm 20. Will be 21 at the end of August, after the policy has started. It's just about sub £1700... with 0 NCB. I have it in writing that when I add my 2 NCB in September (when my current policy on the current car runs out), I'll get most of the difference refunded (the difference NOW between 0 NCB and 2 NCB is £306.20) And that's with everything declared, including honest use and mileage. Sure I put my parents on as named drivers and took a high voluntary excess to drop the price, but neither of those is illegal, unlike the fronting that a lot of people my age seem to be doing. Just to put it into perspective, last year, I paid £2014 on a (modified, but no performance mods) 1248cc DIESEL vx corsa, this is a 2.9 litre 6 cylinder modified petrol.

Ok so I've read the other 6 pages now. Looks like you've had some bad luck lately, hope it's good news from now though, give you a chance to really enjoy the car before the summer's over

Only got to page 4, where you moved the numberplate... will read the rest, but posting this before I forget... A mate of mine in a different car had his numberplate recess cut out to allow air to the intercooler... then because it looked awful having the plate anywhere else, he stuck the numberplate back on, effectively covering up the hole he'd made... to allow air through still, he cut out the letters, so it was effectively a white stencil. The intercooler was painted black, so unless close, you couldn't tell the plate wasn't normal... also ANPR cameras can still read it like that
  11. Law Abiding Citizen - 8.5/10 Really enjoyable... I think some of the scenes were a little more horrific than they really needed to be, but good story. Thought it was very Gotham City ish, reminded me of Batman lol
  12. What I did to my Corrado today... - Paid for it. Well, not quite... the money is all in my account now that I've sold a few bits of my old car and got this months money through into my account. Just need to give that money to Billcor sometime this week. - Insured it. Well, again, not quite... I spent most of the day on insurance websites and ringing round, it's all a very complex situation regarding NCBs and my current car/policy and the corrado and everything else... but I've now got a confirmed quote, in writing, that I'm prepared to pay. Just have to wait until office hours on Monday to pay for it. Perhaps it'll be the most expensive quote ever paid on this forum, but then I am surely one of the youngest on here.
  13. That's a good 6-8 bhp nearly on a standard VR then... I didn't realise it'd be that much
  14. I'll be running on Ronnie 99 only (Shell V Power/Tesco 99) I only ever ran my derv corsa on V Power Diesel, and it was worth the few pence a litre extra. From what I understand, and forgive me if I'm wrong... but with petrol though, there will only be a power benefit if the ECU can adjust timings to take advantage of the higher RON. But with diesel, there is a power regardless, as it is a measure of how fast the fuel burns (petrol's is a measure of how resistant to detonation I think) The additives in both super fuels clean the fuel lines, injectors and engine, so that can increase engine efficiency... that'd be good enough for me, an increase in power is a bonus
  15. sounds like you want to be moved onto the definite list :norty:[/quote:3rx1u0ea] Haha I may well do in the end. I'm still splitting the mods on my old car, so we'll see how much money I get from that and I'll let you know :)
  16. I want centre caps to match calipers I think... perhaps get front and rear calipers and centre caps all sprayed the same blue :norty:
  17. This colour I reckon I'd go for... already got blue centrecaps from the MOs I had on my old car, might get them sprayed a different colour though
  18. Not a Corrado, but does stripping my Corsa count? The interior is all out, apart from drivers seat, lots of exterior parts out, and they're all laid out on the dining room floor waiting for someone to collect them or buy them or be posted out. Only splitting it though, not breaking, so I'm putting it back to standard. Yeah I've been to Squires before, went on Jap night so lots of turbos the size of the moon  I used to drive from Leeds to the airfield at Sherburn when I was doing my night flying licence, so could always see the bikes on the way back.

    Music thread...

:gag: [/quote:1sn7c2rw] not to everyones taste I know. I never used to be a rap/hip hop fan, but you can't deny eminem's lyrical genius

    Music thread...

Just bought the Plan B and Eminem albums, will report back once I've listened to them a few times
  21. I'll be a maybe, but it depends how things go... if they aren't gonna start making them til September, when is the deadline by?
  22. Sorry to hear about that. For covering the hole, perhaps a bit of bathroom sealant, then some speed tape or gaffer tape over the top? Hopefully this won't ever happen again, but if it does, to yours or any other cars in your area, might be wise to invest in a decent alarm with proximity sensors, such as a Clifford, which beeps when you get too close
  23. Ben, you weren't listening to me, were you :nono: I already have one of these, just never fitted it, I've only had it 2 yrs mind  it will come with all the other bits  Oh sorry thought you meant you'd got a replacement tunnel, but never got round to getting one of these brackets
