  1. Yeah, I just need to get 60-degree taper bolts now... still got the radius ones on the C at the moment
  2. My Compomotive MO5s arrived today. Want them on the car now, but can't afford tyres, so gonna probably put them on early next year when I take the winter wheels off. They're even better than I thought they would be, look really similar to the standard Speedline wheels, but these have the caliper clearance. Here's some pictures: Heres a picture side-by-side with the standard Speedlines in comparison... Comps (top) are 17s, Speedlines (bottom) are 15s
  3. Mine arrived today. No problems at all with them, although I've not weighed them so not sure how heavy they are. Here's some pictures:
  4. Get him to remake them in magnesium or something
  5. I'm inclined to agree with you there... the MO5s I had on my old car were almost identical to the speedlines... slightly curved spokes, no centre recess, the face was pretty much flush. These ones I much prefer
  6. My cheque has cleared, so just spoke to James and I'm all paid up... should be at my door tomorrow :D
  7. That's not at all bad really. Pretty quick for an alternator belt that isn't it?
  8. I think so Kev. Checked my account balance, and the cheque has cleared so will just give Comp a ring to make sure they do take payment today, and hopefully should have them tomorrow morning :D
  9. Surely all the more reason to put expensive tyres on. Daily drivers aren't pushed as hard as fun weekend cars and they aren't used as often so tyres last longer (time not distance) You gotta remember that the 4 tyres are your ONLY 4 points of contact between the car and the road. Sticking cheap budgets on is like wearing marigolds as oven gloves. And I've seen it happen before... a standard unmodified Clio 182 Cup was quicker and safer (braking distance/cornering grip) on Michelin tyres than a modified one (coilovers, ARBs, brakes etc) on budget "ditch finder" tyres
  10. Gutted for Hamilton, although it was his own fault... Gutted for Jensen that he couldn't stay out in front... Gutted for Massa that he didn't nail that greasy Spaniard in the first corner... Gutted for Webber that Hulkenburg didn't get the drive-thru penalty he deserved... Gutted that Alonso won... I'd have been a million times happier with a Ferrari 1-2 with Button 3rd as long as Massa beat Alonso. I just plain don't like him. Never have, never will do... the whole Alonso-Hamilton thing just further cemented my hatred of him into my mind
  11. After a quick Camskill look... I'm thinking maybe Conti Sport Contact 3s... £108.80 for 215/40, or £109 for 205/40.
  12. I don't think I'll be worrying about tyres until winter. These Comps are summer tyres, I think I'll leave the OZs on the car until November, then fit winter tyres to the TT Comps I got from dukest, then sell the OZs over winter and sort out summer tyres for the MOs ready to fit in Spring.
  13. What is the finish of the paint like on them? I did notice that a lot of the ones in their "showroom" were poorly finished, but maybe they just rushed through the display sets and didn't have the same quality control for them
  14. Really? I rated them a lot in the wet... although that was standing-water-wet and not just greasy damp road wet
  15. Only tyres I've never aquaplaned on... could go a good 30mph faster on a motorway with standing water than the Contis I had on before them. I think T1-Rs for the road, R888s for the track. Do they have to have tyres on?
  16. Mine would have been, but I didn't think they'd be done so quickly, so I haven't got the money yet. Thought I'd have at least an extra week so wasn't in a rush to cash the cheques, but posted them in today now and told him to put the payment through on Monday. I think I'll go with 215... Just offer slightly more protection for those kerb encounters... I'm thinking that value for money for good grip, £62 delivered for Toyo Proxes T1-Rs sounds good. That'd work out around £250 fitted for me.
  17. Sorry to laugh at your misfortune, but that cracked me up for some reason  52Kg sub??? Was it made of concrete? MTX Thunder 7512-44... it would occassionally set off house burglar alarms let alone car alarms

A low compression 2.0 GLi no less. That was bought during a "I don't need a fast car phase" some years ago, which lasted all of a week. It's true what they say, drive something schitt and you'll appreciate your own car a lot more :D Oh so true. Drove my sisters (2006) Ford Ka this morning, was like :gag: it's horrid. Then went and bought oil/oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs/leads, brake discs/pads, brake fluid, coolant, PAS fluid and serviced the thing. All was great until I realised the brake pads I'd bought from Halfords were slightly not quite a perfect copy... but I assumed they were just cos they were Halfords stuff and they'd make a "universal" pad that fits Ford Kas and other cars. After everything was done, drove the car round the block to brake-scraping sounds... went round again testing the brakes, and they were very firm and good... but stank horrible. Took the wheels off and the pads had shifted and were rubbing/gouging into the centre of the disc (bell/hub bit). Went back to Halfords and found the correct ones (I'll be going back tomorrow for a refund on the original pads and new discs) and fitted them. Couple hours work, it drove a million times better, revved much easier, braked much better, all round better car. But at the end of the day, it was still horrid and I couldn't wait to get back in the Rado!!
  19. Ooh I dunno about that mate!. I've followed Heresites (R32 corrado) a few times, driving hard, and his sounds epic on full chat :D That's an R32 not a 24v VR though? Isn't a "24v conversion" essentially just using the Mk4 head (I know there's a lot more to it than that, but it's not essentially a completely different engine is it?)
  20. My mate is an old schooler, and he's begging me to stick with a 12V... I'm thinking I will do anyway, but apparently the 24v don't sound anywhere near as good
  21. Spent the weekend watching films, mostly the ones the missus forced upon me! Salt - 8/10. Very clever I thought... and not as far-fetched as it might seem. Law Abiding Citizen. 9/10 Fantastic Four - 7/10. Jessica Alba brought it up from a 5 to a 7. Twilight - 5/10 Twilight New Moon - 5/10 Three Kings - 9/10. I love this film.
  22. Hi Ben I'm not sure what you mean by fully rebuilt. I had the bores de glazed these came out looking great with no sign of scouering, lipping or oval shapped bores on cylinders 1+6. I had all the head serviced including skimming, Valves reworked oil stem seals and hydrolic buckets replaced however the latter dont normaly get changed its just that I had a problem with mine which led to the head having to come back off. Also the oil pump was replaced as the old one had a problem with the PRV. Cheers Alan I mean the engine completely stripped down and taken to bits, all the gaskets/seals/rings/etc replaced, all the skimming done and bearings if necessary... that kinda stuff to essentially make it a zero-mileage engine
  23. only one? yea for now. gotta go to edition. broke the uppy downy handle though :( nice technical term there
  24. haha, true - at least with a standard C - guess a Turboed Vr6 might have something else up it sleeve ;) Oh most definitely... unless he decided to build a road-going Group A rally version, then you're well and truly "smoked"
