Might try that - adding another earth to it. It has to be something to do with the O2 sensor. Like I said at the top, the car goes fine when its unplugged. cheers Off I go to get my hands dirty again!!! Timo.
-
check all the earths, they are fine. I tried undoing the ecu vac pipe when trying to sort the idle issues with my car (now sorted) and it went a wee bit funny at idle. I never went out for a run in it though. Is it worth going out in it? Timo. g-man, Did you get my email yesturday mate after I spoke to you on the phone about charger rebuild kit?
-
idle switch works fine, even tested it with a multimeter. throttle presses it with ease when the throttle is shut. Got rid of the ISV now and have blocked off the pipes. Idles fine now 8) , Finally! Ta Timo.

What about that tar remover stuff? That stuff takes off anything  including half the car paint no doubt  Na, Its really good for taking tar off, I bet it'll take your white specks no bother. Timo.

Forgot to mention I have the vacuum hose on order which I will get tomorrow. Its the only thing left that can be the problem, surely? Any other ideas Henny, ? cheers Timo.

Right, I just about give up with this thing. At constant speed 50-60mph ma g60 starts to chugg like its choking. From advice from here and my own logic got it down to probably the lambda probe was the problem. So ordered one yesturday and have just fitted it to the car. Low and behold, it's exactly the same. What the $%£$ can it be? I've replaced the temp sensors, both blue and black this morning too. No difference! I have noticed that the vacuum pipe from the throttle body to the ECU looks a bit untidy and perhaps has been repaired in the past as it has a join in it. Could this be the problem? The car works fine when the lambda probe is unplugged, fuel consumption is good, goes like stink, no black smoke. Please help, i've ran out of ideas  Timo.

tried that already, no use at all!!! Cant tighten the screw anymore to lower the idle. ISV has now gone  There's been a few threads on this before and removing the ISV seems to have no depremental effects. I could be wrong! cheers Timo.

Is there any harm in unplugging the ISV on a G60? By unplugging, I mean disconnecting the power to it. I plan on removing it in the near future. Cant get the damn car to idle properly. It doesn't hunt but sits at 14-1500 all the time. Its quite imbarrassing in town!! Anyway, when I unplug it the idle sits steady at 1k and the car still goes fine. cheers Timo.

BANANA MAN, cheers mate, i'll see how I get on sorting other bits I need. Appreciate the offer, you may hear from me! Simon

cheers ma man!! 3 wire it is then. Simon
-
Cheers Darren, SOLD. I'll give you a buzz next week to sort it out. I'm away till Wednesday. Thanks again Simon

Could I use one of those universal lambda probes you can get from gsf? If so which one, there are many different numbered wire ones? I.e. 2 wire, 3 wire, 4 wire etc... I guessing I'll need the 4 wire one?! cheers Simon

Good one!! Na, just fancy giving it a shot. Just wondering how difficult it is? Darren, you do the rebuild kits dont you? How much? (PM me if you want) Cheers Simon

£90    .........................   Maybe next week 8) Timo.

Don't have a clue what chip is in it! Dont really want to look inside the ECU incase it wreck it. Timo.

Apologies to you all. Tried unplugging the lambda probe (with the temp sensors plugged in the right way round) and went for a run. No problems at all. The idle is less, it still isn't perfect but its a lot better. Mid-run I decided to just make sure and plugged the lambda probe back in, and it starts the black smoke, spluttering trick again. Quite chuffed now. Is it worth cleaning the probe first before getting a new one? Thanks for all your help Simon

Right... Been having a play around with it this morning. I found a spare blue temp sensor in the garage for a vr6. Checked the part numbers and they are the same so I switched it over with the one that it in. And the result is the same. If the blue plug is connected to the blue sensor it runs shite. Chuggs along with black smoke when you are trying to cruise and sometimes when idling the car starts spluttering black smoke. According to bentley both the blue sensors are within range when engine temp is up to normal. Car runs fine when the plug blue is connected to the black sensor (which is definitely had it!!, idle is still crap but it does go well bar that!) What the hell is wrong with the damn thing? Might test the lambda sensor Timo.

Just curious how many of you have rebuilt your charger. Mine needs done and I have some holidays coming up so I fancy giving it a shot. Got a really good guide for doing it. I got the link of this from some post on this forum. Its got plenty of pictures of each stage along with excellent descriptions. What do you reckon? easy-ish or pretty difficult. I really good at getting my hands dirty and really want to get to know the g60 well. Ta Timo.
-
So I reckon I have 3 choices then:- 1 - rebuild it myself. (Quite fancy doing it, get to know the g60 as much as I know my vr6!). How much is the rebuild kit? I've heard about £250? 2 - Take it off and send it to someone else to rebuild it. Again how much will this be? £400? 3 - Take it off and send it to get rebuilt and ported etc, stage 4?? would I need to do anything else to the car if it was done up to stage 4. Would there be much more gains in doing this? perhaps it already been done since its been pullied and chipped. Again, how much for this? Cheers I have a the first week in august so I quite fancy doing the rebuild myself. I have a really good guide for rebuilding the g60 which I got off the corrado-forum. Plenty of pictures and excellent detail. Timo.

That switch looks fine but I shall double check tomorrow. cheers Simon
-
cool, i'll get it them ordered next week. Cheers Simon
-
would it not give bad fuel economy??, and it only happens when I switch round the connectors on the temp. sensors. Simon

Emm, brand new S-type Jag twin turbo diesel, 6-speed manual box... What a beast. Also drove a XK8 jag with a 4.2 litre V8 in it on the same day. Mmmmm...... what fun! 8) Timo.

Nowhere near you mate, live in SW Scotch-land. There's no problem with fuel economy so I'm guessing that means the lambda probe is ok?!! Worth getting new temp sensors though, eh? cheers Simon
