  1. Well, I was looking for the Scooby Turbo I had promised myself all through Uni. It was a major incentive to make me work. My Old Boy was telling how bad fuel economy would be, blah, blah..... Wasn't particularly bothered about that. I just wanted the car I had been dreaming about for those 4 years. Anyway, he mentioned something about a VW Corrado. I went what the hell are they? He had had two VW roccos, one being a gt2. Stuck to the road like clue. He had once pointed out a G60 that had lived in my town and said he had always wanted one. Didn't really see what the big deal was at the time. Did a bit of research into the Corrado, instantly loved the looks and the fact there were barely any around. I have a thing about being different. Dont like being a sheep!! Really, really wanted a G60 for the pub talk. (I have a supercharged car, its better than yours. etc.) But read the horror stories and too be honest I couldn't find a low mileage nice one. Read about the VR6 and thought 2.9litres, 21 years old......yeah right. Manage to get a sensible quote with TESCO's. £900 approx. I then spent many months looking at total sheds until I eventually found a Flash Red, 93' in absolute mint condition. You know that feeling you get when ringing up about a car. Your speaking to the owner and chatting and I just though this sounds like the one. I went to look at the car. My Dad and I stepped out of the car, looked at the Rado on the drive, looked at each other and thought exactly the same thing. "SOLD". Looked round it, totally mint, took it for a drive, offered some money which was accepted. Handed over the cash and came home a very happy man. Had to wait 3 days for the insurance to come to sort the tax out. It was a long 3 days and my father congratualted me for not taking it out, claiming there was no way he could have been that patient. The rest is history and so is the 3.5k I've spent on it to keep it running for the past 3 years. Happy days. T.
  2. If it was fuel related it would be grey/black smoke. You said it was blue, that's oil burning!! Sounds like busted value guides/seals. T.
  3. How come we're not getting the R36? Do you mean the golf R36? or just the engine? T.
  4. 8) One 14mm standard 4motion ARB. Small and rusted, now in the bin! In with a 19mm Golf R32 ARB (36% thicker) £75 later. These has been on back order with VW since last June. Rocking horse poo springs to mine. VW were askig for VIN numbers before letting these go recently. Fortunately I managed to get one from the dealers the other day without any hassle. Makes a very noticable difference to the Bora. Much less understeer when pushing, turns in so quickly now and feels much better on the road in general. Next on the list is suspension and then finally some nice alloys. T.
  5. Mate, if it was a VR6 or a G60 I would say keep it. Mk2 GTI is one of my favourites of all time. Always wanted one of those. Its a tough one really, I would start saving and keep both. Can you not store one off the road for a while?? T.
  6. Often the bolts on the rear bias valve are seized on and 'cutting it off' is the only option. T.

    4motion HALDEX

Anyone with much experience of the haldex system?? This is more aimed at the guys who have done 4wd conversions. Does the Haldew system need looking after properly?? I heard about oil/filter changes in the rear diff every 40k or so. Is that really necessary?? Have you guys made up and funny tool to get the nut off and per usual VW had made it so no normal person can do it with a set of tools?? :( Obviously I want to look after it, but sounds a bit OTT to me. And there is no way I paying the dealer to do it. T.
  8. Just lent the Corrado to the girlfriend for a week as her car went boom on the way home on Friday. Obviously this was my fault as I hadn't fixed it. I mean, its not like I never work or have any spare time!! Hope she doesn't read this. Anyway, I want you all to cross anything thats crossable and pray for its safe return. Surprisingly it only cost £66 to put her on the insurance. She's 22 so I thought that was quite good, although I seem to be paying for that addition  Just washed and waxed it at the weekend too. Its looking the dogs ballerics. Lets hope it comes back like that. Manage to find her a nice little Toyota Yaris. 998cc beast. Totally gutless but quite a nice wee car and I'm sure it'll be very reliable. T.
  9. rixy, So many questions. Whats your's doing, using loads of oil?? Does it smoke on hard acceleration or just after long over-run? getting a 2.8 lump re bored is often a good route. To be honest you're almost better buying a second hand lump. It'll be much cheaper doing it yourself, but the parts are still around 4-500 pound mark. T.
  10. I spent over a grand on a head rebuild after serious smoking and oil consumption. I can still get it to smoke after long over-run although it barely uses any oil now. I would hold onto your money and put up with it, unless its uses loads of oil. T.
  11. Yup, its getting the 3.6 v6 out of the passat. between 280-300 bhp. 0-60mph - 6 secs 19 inch Lamborghini Gallardo still rims. Looks the dog $$£$^ in black. Supposed to be more driver focused and less refined than the R32 due to the R32's lack of character! Coming out early next year. The final flagship before the mk6 comes out. T.
  12. two nipples on the top of the abs pump (No jokes thanks!) T.
  13. Yup, must admit I enjoy the roundabouts especially wet ones on the Bora. T.
  14. Andi, What do you think of the engine then? I drove a v6 30v skoda superb when I did my response driving course. I have to admit I wasn't too impressed. Maybe it was just that car. Whats VW/skoda etcs need for a 2.8 24v (204bhp) transversly mounted v6 and a longitude mounted 2.8 30v v6 (197bhp)? I never quite understood that. Suppose with the passat having more room under the hood they dont have to fit the smallish 24v v6. PS. How can the owner of the Corrado forum not have a Corrado. Its a disgrace, hold you head in shame! Hope you find a new one soon. What was the final mileage on that beast? T.

    BBM VR6 turbo kit

    Thats what I thought. T.
  16. http://www.bahnbrenner.com/media/php/ca ... &catid=251 I'm guessing this will never fit a RHD vr6 Corrado. Would I be right?? Seems a nice price though. T.
  17. What a beast. Love those. What engines in that?? T.
  18. Shaggsy, cheers mate. Ronan, I knew they would be too. Its always funny to find out how much though. T.
  19. MMMmmmm..... cant be bothered to do the suspension again. I had lowered my tdi bora a couple of months before I decided to sell it to the get the 4motion. Bit of bad planning on my part although the 4motion purchase wasn't intended to happen so soon. Think I'll sit on it for a while. Went to the dealers to see how much the 17" Santa Monica alloys are.................£360...................EACH!!! I'll say no more T.
  20. Cant decide what to do with the bora. I promised myself I wouldn't modify it but I just cant help myself. :( I thinking, wheel wise, either 18" RS4 alloys. Seems to be some really good deals on replicas at the moment. Or 17" Santa Monica alloys. Always really like them and they were an additional upgrade on the 4motion bora. Suspension - ride height is a little high although handling is excellent and the ride is comfy, propably thinking just H+R springs with standard shocks. Re-chip. Cost is rather high £400 for only 8-10bhp. Not sure if its worth it. Probably need and exhaust system to make it worthwhile which adds even more cost. Finally thinking Neuspeed rear ARB which is the cheapest option out of the lot. These really seem to transform the handling. Only thinking about the rear. R32 arbs are like gold dust. Any advice welcome. T.
  21. Darren, are you still wanting this charger?? Simon
  22. 24V Renshaw, Jay, have you got an uprated dog bone engine mount? Just fitted a powerflex one and I'm well impressed with the difference. Before, the engine looked like it was trying to jump out the engine bay when you revved it! T.
