Continental Premium Contact tyres... are these any good?
Timo. replied to matth76's topic in Drivetrain
I used to have continental conti sports. They were utter crap and cost a fortune. Dont buy them. Try Hankook sport tyres (cant remember model) They are cheap and really good. (Made by Bridgestone) I got a set of 215/45/17's for £92 all in. T. -
Checked the gauge to make sure the needle hadn't popped off ages ago. It was fine. Also swapped senders about which made no difference. They were changed for new ones too. T.

Yes it was warm. Do you reckon the cap is failing too quickly? The water temp guage has never work well so I have no idea if it is actually overheating or what temp its getting up to. T.

It has done this before, I suspect its an air pocket from what you are saying as it was topped up last time. Next time I fill it up I shall do it from the top hose on the radiator. Cheers T.

Stange things are going on with my Dad's G60. Its in storage at the moment but I went and started it this afternoon (eventually) and gave a wee run up and down a farm track. When I turned it off, the coolant started pi$$ing out of the expansion tank through the top. Its like it was over pressurised and the cap has hit max pressure and dumped the extra pressure. I have no idea whats wrong with, it was only running about 10-15 mins. All the coolant hoses were warm so cant be a blocked thermostat. I wonder if there is something wrong with the water pump, although I took the expansion cap off when it was running and the coolant was circulating fine. I just wonder if there is an air lock somewhere in the system. Its very confusing, please help. T.

Aux water pump is really straight forward. Undo 1 plug, 2 coolent pipes, take out old one, put new one in. Happy Days. Oil pump......dont have a clue. T.

Interesting. The old bora is a rather fast car. Need to get mine tuned. :) T.

Under taking is a big no no and damn right stupid and dangerous. And anyone caught doing it should be dealt with appropriately. I do however understand the 'dual carriageway' scenario, but any other time is not acceptable. T.

All I can say is GOOD EFFORT. Some more details of that crazy engine would be nice! T.

no worries mate. Better keep the wife happy ;) T.

If your 'engine speed sensor' goes it wont run at all. Defo sounds like the ISV to me. Its a really common. T.

Oh, 1 out of 10 difficulty rating. In fact its probably 0! :) T.

Easy mate. Its a road cylindrical shape electronic gizmo at the back of the vr engine, need to move the back plastic cover and you can quite easily get to it. Either take it off by un doing some pipes and load it full of carburator cleaner or you can blast it whilst still half connected. Personally I would take it off. You should get loads of black crap coming out once you let the carb cleaner do its stuff. It may solve the problem, but may not. A lot of vr's including mine occasionally stall, its another one of those things. Usually happens when you least expect/want it to happen. However if its happening alot a clean out of the ISV may help, otherwise it might need a new one :( T.

idle stablization valve (ISV) probably needs cleaned out with carb cleaner. Its the usual suspect for vr's cutting out. Also the little pot thing that the throttle maechanism rests on when you come off the throttle could be to blame (not the best explaination!) Have a search for "ISV". You'll find loads of threads on it. T.

Rob_B, Have you cancelled your order or are you still gonna get one?? T.
