  1. Had both front wheel bearings and the left hand hub changed today, much quieter and handling seems a tad tighter...what'll be next?
  2. Any updates. What's it been like to run? How the handling and ride? Will you need to alter the shocks and springs? Cheers D
  3. Does anyone remember seeing a sketch of a Corrado in an off road style? Probably in the 90's - I think it was a VW concept drawing.
  4. Drove back from Aberdeen to Glasgow, after going up on Tuesday. Return Trip 330 Miles at 34.7mpg. Went through the road works (40mph with average cameras) on the M80 on the way up and had 41.1mpg showing on MFA. Nice.
  5. Dark coloured valver north bound out of Dundee on the A90 this evening about 6.15. Dark windows in the rear. Think it was a valver based on grille type. Waved.

  7. Arrived at Holiday Inn. Going for food in Hotel. Any one around after 9?
  8. Arriving this evening after 8. Staying near AECC
  9. Yep. I'm not on a stand or anything - just visiting. Are you going to be there? d
  10. Going to be in Aberdeen for a couple of nights this week Tues to Thurs - will do some C spotting
  11. Saw a white C, reg M*** XTM (I think) on Drymen Road in the road works in Bearsden this morning. Waved and flashed Morning!
  12. Mine is a daily driver. I cover 50 or so miles total on days I'm in the office. Though, with the price of fuel just now, a day working from home does put a tenner back in my pocket D
  13. Thanks - always nice to have a bit of reassurance. Hopefully get my refurbing done this weekend and order up tyres for next weekend. Cheers D
  14. You might have noticed my thread on refurbing my RS771s. I just thought I'd offer them up to the car to make sure the spigot diameter and stud pattern were right. Well they're fine. But what I have noticed is that at the front the clearance to the brake caliper is very small. I mean 2-3 mm - probably nearer 2mm. Now clearance is clearance, and I've checked 2 different wheels on the 2 front positions and spun them round. They do not contact, but 2mm seems very small to me. They are ET42, VW wheels. Has anyone else got this combination and if so what sort of clearance do you get? Spec BBS RS771, ET42, 6.5*16, VW part number 1J0 601 025E, other number 12 42 021. I'm putting them on a VR6, which I believe has standard calipers although the discs are drilled. Any thoughts appreciated Cheers David
  15. Just spotted the TDI grille badge...detail!
  16. This has been amazing to watch unfold. Attention to detail, speed of execution. Top Marks. I can't believe how OEM it looks. Congratulations. I can see this turning into a Wiki knowledge
  17. Caruth Jordanhill Garage in Glasgow is doing the work. They're sending the pump away to get reconditioned. One of the valves was showing up as inop on the analyser. If they can fix it the refurb costs £300 + vat, if they can't then it was going to be £500 for an off the shelf unit. I know you can get them (much) cheaper on ebay, but there's no guarantee they are any good. Whatever, hope to pick it up tomorrow so bound to be an £ouch moment.
  18. I've Speedlines on mine at the moment mmm...just wondering about a swap. what sort of condition are your wheels and tyres and what size of tyres do you have? It's just a thought at the moment, because i was thinking of keeping the speedlines for the winter.
  19. Yes... that's the source of the wheels. I guess that the bolts are loctited in. My idea to take the centre out is that it's give me a cleaner finished article, but TBH, I don't want to start it if I end up drilling out bolts. When you've done them in the past, when you put the centre back into the rim, does it need careful alignment to get the centre properly centred? I realise that it has to line up with the valve hole - LOL ---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ---------- Thanks for the offer - as you can see I'm in two minds about it. Might just get one of these to see if the bolts will move. If they are too tight, I think I'll avoid splitting them. Cheers D PS the car's getting the ABS pump reconditioned ATM. Once it's back I'll put some suggestions on the Corrado Ecosse thread for a Scottish meet up.
  20. I've a set of 16" RS771s that I'm refurbing and will soon need a set of tyres. Looking at 205/45 16s. Blackcircles do Pirelli Nero Zeros for about £90. Has anyone tried these or have other recommendations? Looking for low road noise, good grip and reasonably long life. What do folk think? Cheers D
  21. Hi - I've got a set of RS771s that I'm planning putting on the C. Am in the process of tidying up the scuffs, scratches and chips on them and am beginning to wonder if I should think about splitting the centre from the rim. Is this a no no unless you are a professional or is it a case of getting the special tool to fit the star shape in the head of the studs and getting on with it? If it's a case of getting the tool, any recommendations as to where to get one. Cheers D
