Thanks for coming back to me. Had wondered if some setting was wrong or my wife had figured out how to time out the forum - LOL

Hi I keep getting a message coming up when I'm on the site saying that the site is down. It comes from Cloudflare. It says that it can't offer me a saved page because it is not held in the cache. Normally I use Chrome, it happened just now and so I thought how about IE. Got straight on. Is there a mismatch between the forum and Chrome? Anyone else getting this?

Just looking atthe picture now - was viewing on the phone originally - the part in the picture has the nut fitted to remember to take it off before chucking it in th bin -
Seems Dads getting Corrados and mums getting SUV/MPVs is the trend. Got my C when my wife's '97 Saab 900 failed the MOT and she took the Touran off me. Happy days. Run it now as a daily for 11 months.

I replaced one recently. It cost about 10 from the stealers. You'll need the little rubber stopper on the end as that doesn't come with the plunger. You need to take the boot lid trim off to get your hand in the fit it. There's a plastic collar/nut that you need to find. My memory is that it was inside the boot lid. If you can't find it then you'll need one of them too. -

I know you said not an ebay one but how about this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190514479332?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649#ht_500wt_1413 The guy is moving premises but will be back in business at the end of January. It's a metal one rather than the plastic ones you usually get on ebay. I'm holding out for him moving in to his new place. -

Maybe a mad idea, but anyone fancy meeting up between Christmas and New Year? -
Sorry to see that Wullie. Hope you can get it sorted.

£400 seems a lot. Is that because of Aberdeen or something? I paid £240 for this year's insurance on a std VR6 with Admiral. It's a multicar policy. The Touran 2.0TDI was £305 on the same policy. OK I'm 48, both cars max no claim, but the C is insured for 8k miles per year, Glasgow, parked in drive, and includes cover for work related use, and a replacement car. Hope I'm not in for a shock next time

He might have stopped now based on comment in the thread but a link on page 32 sent me here:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-VR6-SPARK-PLUG-LEAD-REMOVAL-TOOL-/190514479332?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5b8c40e4&clk_rvr_id=292681260443&afsrc=1#ht_500wt_1202 Cheers D

I've got an Eye Brow to fit to my C. it's the separate type so I will continue to use the standard grille. What I'm not sure about is how to fix it to the car. It looks like it should be screwed into the headlamps. Got it second hand so no instructions. Can anyone put up some pics of how they have fitted similar eyebrow? - or eye browns as my daughter calls them D

As it says - I'm looking for a metal HT Cable removal tool for a VR6 Cheers D

I joined about a year ago and they were really slow to respond. At the time they were doing a website revamp, which may have slowed things down a bit. Having been a member and had a look at the site, i'm afraid to say I'm not so convinced. I think next time I'll put my money where I spend my time...that's here. Sorry, not really what I want to say about the CCGB

Why the difference between summer and winter? I'm definitely getting this too. Is it a longer warm up (poorer fuel consumption) period? Cheers

Was that the burgundy one on ebay? Saw that and was tempted. A good price and seems to have had some good stuff done.

Shelf fitting duties have been imposed and 'get yourself ready for the holiday' so not much progress. TBH, I think that there is so much junk on the laptop that I should flatten it, reload the OS and start from scratch. I've tried most things except Fishwick's suggestion. Will back up the stuff I want and then try that. Thanks for asking. How's the car progressing, did you get to the bottom of the prob you has the day we went to Scone? I've has a Hot restarting problem. I think it's lack of fuel. will idle - though not as cleanly as usual, but as soon as you open the throttle is just tries to die. It eventually clears - 3-5 minutes - then runs fine. D

Ditto on the Grand Prix. I use Rain-X on my C. I've put it on all the windows. I wasn't too impressed to begin with as I got wiper judder. I persevered and have put a coat on every month or so. Juddering has cleared and you realise that actually you've missed bits, so redoing it makes sure you get full coverage. Also I find below about 50mph, i tend to need the wipers as it doesn't clear too well. So if you do a lot of slower driving and need the wipers, expect to redo it. Definitely recommend it and persevering.

Summer? I live in Scotland now...

I've come across 2 sunroofless Cs in about 10 months of advert scanning. One is Wullies - I think it's a 1.8 16V H reg, the other is a burgundy VR6 which was on ebay last December/January that I was very tempted by, but was semi committed to the C I now have. It went for something like £1200 and reappeared on PH for about £2500 in the summer. Similarly, I'd like a sunroofless- I never use it and it's just something else that rattles. Had a 1990 Elan which I nearly always drove with the roof down unless it was raining, and - without wanting to start a debate on the subject - now don't see the point in an s/r. So if you have a very specific spec in mind the chances are slim. Not many black Cs around. Some people have put carbon fibre roof panels on their Cs. Are they 'easy' to swap? D
