Try this thread http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?48545-Poor-idle-and-running-when-cold&p=749638#post749638 Also, if you do have muck in the tank it could be restricting the pump flow. It could be that in the past adding fuel has dislodged it, but this time not. I'm saying could be.

I've been noticing for that last few weeks that the car starts OK, but as I drive down the street, that there can be a bit of a hesitation as I apply the throttle. Once the car warms up this seems to disappear. However on Wednesday i drove the car about 45 miles cross country in the rain - motorway and A and B roads. No problem. After 3 hours did return trip - more rain - no problem. Pulled in and stopped for about 15 minutes. When I restarted the engine started OK but when i touched the accel pedal, the engine almost died. tried a few times and basically the car would not keep the revs up high enough to move. After coaxing it for a few minutes it seemed to clear and managed to do another 15 to 20 miles no problem. Today, drove about 5 or 6 miles in town - stop start, engine warm enough for fans to be kicking in. Parked for about 25 mins, and while the car pulled away OK it was almost like it was in limp home as it wouldn't above about 2500rpm (can't remember exactly). After about 5 minutes driving it cleared, but I kept having to work the gears to keep it moving. Is this a similar problem? VR6 - no mods, except immobiliser D

Yes, I'm Using XP and Yes it's a blue transparent one. I've tried various combinations of software - downloading one which has the COM1 to COM4 options, one that has that plus a USB option, the one on the mini CD. In between I've been uninstalling the software to try to ensure that the computer didn't get confused, but I haven't uninstalled the COM port drivers. Other than external harddrives, memory sticks and my phone, I don't connect any other devices - so I'll give it another go. Cheers D

Easypops, Swiftkid and Stonejag. Thanks for your help. Not in any particular order... Stonejag. My cable is a cheapy clone - £8 on ebay. Swiftkid. Don't worry about being vague. I knew the places you were meaning so have had a look. My laptop has 3 USB ports. When I get to the place in Device Manager that you refer to I find 2 RIM Virtual Serial ports and 1 USB Serial port. These are numbered COM 7, 8 and 9. In the advanced settings I can change the port numbers. The dropdown says that COM 1 to 9 are all in use except COM 2. This shows the same whether I look at the USB Serial port or the RIM Virtual Serial ports. Since COM 2 is not in use I'll try that and let you know the outcome. I'm assuming that I shouldn't set the port to any of the COM numbers that say they are 'in use'. Easypops. I wonder if that's the problem. I can't get wifi on my laptop when I'm out in the garage all plugged in. I'll try all the above again and see if I can position things to get a wifi signal. If that still doesn't solve it I'll contact you. Cheers for all your help D

Hi Just posting a short conversation between me and Elliott trying to get VAGCOM working on my laptop. Originally Posted by Elliott Coupland Yeah, it's the free 1.1 lite version your after. This is handy also. http://www.airbagnews.com/PDF/Fehler...%20english.pdf Good luck elliott Thanks for that. I'll try it again this evening. I was having a problem when setting up the comms port in the VCDS options page. It didn't seem to recognise anything. Can't remember what the message was now. Have deleted all the files and down a system restore back to before I tried loading anything. So hopefully things will work now. Cheers David Have now tried it and still not getting connected. I'm getting the message Ross-Tech USB Interface Not Found! Interface: Not Found Did you get this? I've tried the software you and Easypops sent me and the software on the disc supplied and still get this. Any clues? Oh - I've changed the Latency to 5 as well Cheers David

I've used Bearsden Auto Services in Anniesland, Glasgow. Seem to know what they are doing. Not too cheap, but they were described to me as 'older guys who worked in a VAG dealership when Corrados came out so know what Corrados are about' I've been happy with them

Sorry on Holiday then but should be OK for Scone on the 9th. If costs a problem going to Scone Palace, we could always do the Killin run on the 9th instead. Would that help get the numbers up? D -
Metallic Green VR6 K***CBD on Chamber Street in Edinburgh last night. Looked tidy

I've had as high as 33.5 for a tankful. My average for the last 5000 miles is just over 30. That's a mix of town, motorway, cross country. I agree that driving at 60-70 seems to improve the mpg compared to 50 so long as it's steady, but it drops off again around 70. What kills it is stop start traffic. It's really worth switching off at the lights. Right now my MFA2 is reading 32.3. The MFA is pretty accurate - to within .1 or .2 I find. I'm an mpg junkie and keep all the stats. -

Put me in the Cake queue -
Mmmmm...cake Great to meet up Great to see the other cars Hope everyone else's home DIY/vehicle strip downs/vehicle rebuilds went well...see you next time Just thinking of keeping the castles theme and thought Scone Palace could be central for Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Inverness, Lossiemouth and Aberdeen - 9th of October the RACMSA Rally of Scotland is in the grounds. Anyone fancy that for the next date? D

I had a reconditioned unit recently because a valve in mine had seized. I think I paid about £600 for the recondition. My garage in Glasgow did the diagnosis then sent the unit away. If you want I can ask where they sent it and get you the details. I know your are caught between cheap and maybe a lot of hassle, or more expensive, being sure it'll work, but asking if you paid over the odds.

I want one of those Other than the lights, are any of the parts off something else. I don't think it's a Polo back end. It looks like a Corrado up to the fuel filler.

Hi As the title says - Any going to Doune on the 18th got a spare Gearbox speedo sensor? Speedo playing up giving weird high (always high) readings. Anyone got a spare speed sensor I could borrow to check out if that's the problem? Cheers D

Was in a famous Scottish dealer at Jordanhill in Glasgow and spotted an M Reg VR6 Moonlight in the workshop. Left a note with the service guy to tell the owner about the Doune Castle run on Sunday 18th.

yeah...normal start, normal engine sound, then revs just drop.
