  1. Cheers - thought for a minute I hadn't been sold a whole car!
  2. Just working on the thermostat on the C and noticed that there is a cover at the N/S end of the channel below the windscreen, but nothing covering the ECU and wiper motor. Is this right? If not can someone post a pic of what the covers should look like? Cheers
  3. Sorry if this is covered. I reckon the thermostat on my VR6 may be stuck open as the temp gauge shows about 70C all the time until in traffic, at which point it goes up to just over 90 and the fan(s) kick in. I am assuming that the fans are operating OK from what I've read here, so sounds like I need to change the thermostat. I've had a look at the thermostat's location and am trying to figure out how to get access to it. By feel, I can only get to 2 of 3 of the fixing bolts. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to get access? I'm guessing I need to remove some other parts, but don't want to start dismantling only to discover that I've taken off too much.
  4. Grey C in Tayport, Fife. Parked outside cemetery. K***EYP, I think. Just caught my eye on the way past. Also a bright green and grey Anglia (last shape), beside it.
  5. Just spotted this on PH...doesn't look too bad... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3054060.htm
  6. Had to wash it again tonight. Not only did it rain after I washed it last night, but the C was Bombed by a Southside Seagull that had just had a curry...what a mess
  7. Re-applied the RainX last night, been using it for the last few months and it's been excellent. Can you use it on the body work? Or is there sometiong like it that would keep the car clean?
  8. Yesterday, drove it to work and back. Than Wash Wax and Rainx - I'm sure the mpg's better today
  9. Not as nice...not exactly shabby
  10. Who was in the Red C going south on the M77 just before 6 tonight? Flashed and waved - cheers.
  11. VR6 with wiring loom problem http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3023192.htm
  12. Looks like Tuesday then. See you at the Transport Museum. Obviously non-Weegies welcome - I mean, I'm not a Weegie I live in Bearsden, don't you know D
  13. How does an evening meet down by the new Transport Museum by the SECC sound? I could do Monday or Tuesday evening (4th and 5th July)
  14. Saw a silver C parked on Roman Road, Bearsden last night about 8.30. Too far away to check the spec looked lowered
  15. Anyone spotted this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-VR6-BLUE-/220801882600?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3368d159e8#ht_1186wt_1139 It''s sitting at £600 with 1 day and 17 hrs to go and has a full grey leather Recaro interior
  16. I had 34.9 tonight on the commute of 24 miles. This was the full mix - motorway, stop/start town, 70mph, 50 mph, 40mph. At one point it was reading 38.2. Recently had new front bearings and have seen an increase of about 2mpg on my commute. Still will have to drive to the moon and back to get any payback. Ha ha
  17. Hi, I'm based in Bearsden and mine is a daily driver. I had and ABS problem where the light kept coming on. Caruth Jordanhill is where took it. Not cheap, but sorted. Yeah, we need to have a get together or drive out. What about going out to Loch Lomond on a weekday evening? I'm too busy with family and DIY stuff for the weekend.
  18. Was at Le Mans at the weekend and spotted 2 VR6 Cs in the campsite. in Maison Blanche a Moonlight blue M***LYK - had a quick chat and in Bleu Nord a Red L***EUD. Both looking nice
  19. LOL it's a Bora...stay back for some detention and the I spy books ---------- Post added at 09:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:44 AM ---------- Thanks for the updates. Clearly exceeding your expectations. It's a long way off but I feel something like this coming on. Driving a TD is so different to a petrol. My wife's got a 2.0 16v TDI Touran - loads of toque low down and can accel well in virtually any gear as a result - just runs out of steam too soon above 4000rpm. But makes for a very lazy/easy drive. In most driving conditions that speed cameras etc permit, that is often more than enough
  20. So - who is going to Le Mans this year? I'm going, and will be parked up with Pistonheads in the Bleu Camp site. Not taking the C, going in a friends A6 Avant. D
  21. Did you have a look at this? Looked nice in the pics - what was the reality?
  22. I was egged by the Anniesland weegies on the Touran. Didn't stop to find out what it was as it's a fairly major cross roads. Once home and realised it was egg, I made sure it was cleaned off thoroughly. I've seen paint really destroyed by egg. But at the point of impact there is a set of concentric circular scratches which the egg caused as it crumbled. Never tried to remove them but having read a few threads was thinking that detailing clay might do the trick...then again I'd have to do the whole car
