Don’t envy you with that although I have my own sill woes. Mines not rusty just the sill lips crushed a bit further back where some twit has jacked it up without a V block or similar. In fact it’s amazing how many places want to jack the car up on the sill lip, I’ve just been taking the wheels in for years because of that.

Aha ha I had my suspicions, petty rust that, shame you can’t get the panel anymore that has that knuckle on, it was pretty cheap when available compared to other stuff. I wouldn’t really want a lot of filler down there as it’ll chip with the stones coming up off the wheel, several coats of under seal might be better for it,

It happens. Funny though, thanks for sharing that Easy. can I ask what’s going on with the front of the passenger sill, it looks strangely like an ice cream.

Standard set up on mine but with Brembo grooved discs and the ferodo pads below. A lot more stopping power and less fade
-
Nice one easy, how long do you think it took for the alarm removal once you got going with being an alarm novice and all? Did you have a slight euphoria moment when it was out?
-
I bet if you order the Brembo one an ATE one will come in a Brembo box

A list of cars that had them fitted https://www.yoyopart.com/oem/7366698/vag-3a0615123a.html

After all that, it looks like they used this calliper on the mk3 and mk4 with a 288 by 25 disc.
-
It’s not that hard easypops if you have a parts car to hand which I’m sure you do. They chop some wires out and put their own in, like fen says once you’ve removed the easy stuff chop their stuff out one by one and replace with cable from the parts car of the same colour, you’ve got loads of time. They’ll also be plugs down there of the same colour not connected, if they weren’t connected before don’t be tempted now.
-
I think I may have the answer on the callipers, but may be wrong i think the earlier ones which ABV has are for a 22mm disc as opposed to the mk4 ones which have a 25mm disc be t the same 288mm diameter. I would imagine if it’s a different callipers it’ll be a different piston, a phone call should clear it up.
-
I think these aren’t the same, his has 731 and 732 stamped on the housing, I think they are mk4 ones, is the piston different ?that’s the question.
-
Stuart seems to be right about the VW part numbers for the callipers and like He also says widely used so must be out there now you have those part numbers for the callipers you should be able to get something locally, but you’ll probably have to phone someone up. Keyo those part numbers don’t seem to include the piston, number 15 seems to be a calliper guide. It looks like VW never did the piston without the calliper, it’s all very confusing

Nice one Keyo

More likely this one though with the year. ebay item number 272219252319. where’s Keyo he’s better at this, because I haven’t come across what you are try to achieve matey, I’m just trying to help, I don’t actually know for sure. You’d may have more luck if you can get the part number for the calliper or piston, maybe the dealers can help if you can’t get it online.
-
Might be this one from bigred on eBay item number 282860263003 but do a different one for golf about your cars age
-
Is that the front? How big was the disc?
-
Agreed, good solution, very nice
-
Pleased for you mate after your saga. where does your ABS light go then if you’ve got that switch fitted
-
Pretty sure same piston as a mk2 golf on the rear 38mm, although the housing/calliper is slightly different for the ( post face lift) later models and VR6, plenty on eBay, or like Sean says and send them off to a specialist if in no rush. just noticed it’s the b4 Passat ones you’ve got in bits. Are the the same as your vr6 ones, post a pic up

They would be blasted to remove the shine before coating. They only shine because they are polished and there isn’t much that would adhere to that. But hey it’s a free world I ain’t going to insist or talk anybody into anything that’s a bad idea or they don’t want to do.
-
i don’t think you’ve thought that through properly. Cars are made of steel instead of stainless for cost reasons. If a car made of stainless steel received a nick to the paint it would just stay a nick but the car made of steel with the same nick in the paint would have it’s nick pretty quickly turn into a rust scab that eats away under the paint/coating, flaking it off and eating through the steel if left unchecked.
-
I’d get the stainless ones and have them powder coated, they’re should look great forever as when the coating chips the rust wouldn’t get underneath and scab it.
-
It’s a common theme, can’t seem to find a really nice one at the mo.

I bought a couple already but not really tip top. So yes mate still after a good one, if you could help that would be great, cheers.
